as someone that works in an art store i have noticed that for beach pictures its rare to sell a golden hour print but all the photos when the water is the most blue sells the most
Hi Mads, just wanted to say thanks for this video, as someone who shoots everything in between sunrise and sunset for many years, I feel a lot of photographers will discover a whole new world of photography fun, Keep up the great work 👌🇮🇪
Spot on Mads, and so practical… clarity, dehaze, and saturation sliders can kill a photo but when used sparingly can bring to the viewer what my eye was seeing at the time. Pragmatic. I’m going to focus on that for a while. Thank you for all you do Mads 👍🏻
I can resonate with this video because I've had many of these lightbulb moments in the last 3 months. I recently moved from a desert area to one with forests covered in various tree species. It's so beautiful this fall in the USA from the changing colors and I have been experimenting several times a week getting up early to walk through fog and play around with the subject separation because of it. Your videos are wonderful! Pro tip for people reading this. If it rained the night before and the morning forecast predicts no wind, there is a good chance it'll be foggy or misty. Try it out!
Thanks Mads. Just received my first SaaL photo book - over 200 photos of my wife's life - a present for her 75th Birthday. Very good upload software, quality printing and fast delivery 5 days from upload to receipt of photo book (with gift box). Excellent service so thanks again for your recommendation and your excellent, informative videos.
Hi Mads. Just given my wife her book. She absolutely loved it. Now preparing for a surprise long weekend in Copenhagen where she can practice her Danish! Thanks again for the SaaL recommendation.
Thanks for an engaging and inspiring video. Most of us camera carriers are not pros, comunicating with a large audience. My audience is my family and my medium is the slide show. I am not going to cover my walls with a few large prints but I have a NAS and a Chromecast to run a slide show. Also, I use photos as a communication starter - can you recall....etc. Of all the photo pros out there on UA-cam, you might be the one who can help make my shoots and edits a bit more artsy and interesting.
Still relatively new to photography (2 years in/hobby level), and think your vids and photos of the Faroe Islands inspired me when chosing a destination to spend some bonus flight points on. Have just booked flight and housing for next summer and can't wait to go! Thanks for the great work and vids.
Thanks for sharing Mads. Rethinking what you are doing is always a good thing. I'm currently working on a couple of projects which require revisiting the same locations monthly. Great fun. I enjoy your channel. Great tips.
Haha you early photos with super clarity look exactly like mine did! That slider was like a drug, you just needed a bit more and then a lot more! Nice video with some great tips.
Brilliant video Mads. I thought the explanation and your expertise in the video was excellent. As you say we all sometimes crank up the clarity and dehaze slider too much. Absolutely stunning image's. Look forward to the next one.
Excellent advice, Mads. I too was a bit hard on the HDR, your photos looked like mine, and still can be on the clarity and dehaze sliders. Must stop from now on! Agree with you on orange sunsets, sunrises have more pinks/blues, but sunsets! Thanks Mads for this informative and rethinking video.
Those early days of photoshop HDR were wild times indeed 😂 so true on atmosphere, I do spend more time planning when to go rather than where for that very reason!
Great and unique tips! Content request: would love to know how you do photos into the sun like this at 11:49 while still keeping all this dynamic range. If I did it I bet either the sky would be blown out or the ground way too dark. Would love to know how you do it ☺️
A comment on what you said at 0:18... Not accepting blindly what authorities say and always trying to find and analyze the logic behind it is beneficial not only in photography but also in other areas. I would even say it's a good approach to life in general. :-)
Long shot but can you comment on the trigger you use from such a long distance to get yourself in some of your shots? Long shot to get long shot info:)
I figure Mads just sets his intervalometer to take a photo every couple of seconds as he moves into position. He then shows only the perfectly posed final image.
And why can't you hang a photo with a little bit of orange in it on your wall? It definitely would brighten your room and make you feel better during the short grey winter days ! You have to open your mind ! ( I am just trying to dismantle the argument )
Over-editing is ruining so many potentially beautiful photos nowadays: I see it on so many photographers channels here on UA-cam (but also other platforms). Photos of nature simply looking unnatural or sometimes just plain fake: nature doesn't scream with color in most cases, so why should your photos? Such a waste.
Dear Mads, I'm following you since more than two years and I just get a little boring with your videos. Don't get me wrong but it looks like you have learned me a lot but you just keep on repeating the same topics. As a positive negative feedback I just want you to be aware of it. I think I'm not the only one. No problem still love your unbelievable skills.....no worries about that.
That's all good, Joost. I have no problem with constructive feedback, I actually appreciate it, so thank you! Let me hear, what do you like to watch from me? I really try my very best to mix it up. A few tutorial-like videos like these, which by far are the most popular on my channel (just go and see what's most popular on my channel) and then a whole lot of videos where I go out into nature and take photos at generally new locations (which is what I prefer). The only problem is that those videos never really get any views, no matter if I go to faraway locations, popular locations or local locations... So the only logical conclusion must be that most people prefer something like this.
Also, I have never talked about pragmatism, that golden hours are overrated, photographing from elevated positions, that early spring is great for photography or that printing makes me think differently. Yes, I have mentioned the HDR editing and dehaze/clarity sliders before and it's quite obvious I enjoy atmosphere. However, not all people watch all my videos anyway, so a bit of repetition is necessary. You'll be surprised about how many people keep asking me how I take photos of myself from a distance... 😅
You are right Mads, I don't want to get in detail which you did or didn't. Your strongest skills are, and that's really what I like about you, your eyes... you see potential photos no one is seeing and you make the best compositions about these not seen possibilities by others. You are much better than Nigel or James or Thomas in this regard. And that's what I like to see and maybe a little of your way of living and exploring in Denmark. I love your country btw! But I do understand the business site of youtube as well as your approach to it. Only try to be a little less teacher and be more of a storyteller as you do with your photography. Thanks Mads appreciate it! @@MadsPeterIversen

I love the summary of golden hour - “It’s so bloody orange”
sometimes its urine yellow ;)🤣

I love how your passion showcases outside the normal photos we see elsewhere and just take that moment to capture something new.
Really good choice of concepts that will impact my development Im sure. Thanks
All good points. 🎯 Carry on. 👍🥂

Another great video, Mads!
Refreshing perspective on golden hour and the less favourite seasons.
All very good points. The sales point about golden hour was really interesting.
thats an impressive amount of amazing pics Mads,.
Definitely a very good one: Bookmarked
11:19 i reckon you should get saal to get some bottle openers made up with that image... I'd buy one

Bracketing ;)
@@MadsPeterIversen ahh that makes sense of course. Didn't know drones could do that as well. Looks like a drone shot ☺️

Sad story: I love fog and I live in southern Italy - THE END
A good coat, trust me biggest thing that lets you stay out...
Mads, I only see now that we are both European partners for Kase Filters. An honor for me!
Couldn't find the Saal Digital link. That's bad. But video was superb!!!
They're there now, forgot to add them ;)
Should I use spot focus or whole frame focus for landscape photography?
I use spot as it gives me more control, check my video on focus :)
@@MadsPeterIversen thank you very much

@@nancyturek1121good thought. Eats up a lot of space with my speed and 45mp Nikon 850:)
1000% agree on printing your photos...they shouldn't live on a hard drive somewhere.

I am not saying you can't, but I argue why not in the video ;)
SAAl requires a download of their software to order a print. Is there a way around this?
No, you can just use their website.
