20 Years of Amrita Physician Assistant Program

The year-long #celebrations to commemorate the 20th #anniversary of the #Amrita #Physician #Assistant #Program (PA) began on Saturday. The inaugural ceremony was held at Amriteswari Hall, #AmritaHospital, Kochi. The guest of honor was David E. Lizotte, Executive Director, Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Clinical Assistant Professor James #Madison #University Physician Assistant Program, USA. Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director, Amrita Hospital inaugurated the event.
Dr. Vishal Marwaha, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine, MV Thampi, Chief Program Administrator, Amrita Centre for #Allied #Health #Sciences, Dr. Anand Kumar, Head of Department of #Neurology, Dr VN Unni, Dr DM Vasudevan, Prasad VG, Ebin Abraham were also present on the occasion. A get-together of alumni, staff, students and faculties too took place following the inauguration.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is someone who works together with physicians or surgeons and other healthcare workers. Physician Assistant specialists are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services in virtually all #medical #specialties, as delegated by physicians.

Congratulations the enthusiastic first batch(2001-2003) of Physician Assistant program at AIMS Kochi; who had the courage to takeup the challenge of a new professional career path of PA unknown ever since.
