This was great, Tamara! The best I can get my 90 year old mom to stick with is cleanse & moisturize. She’s used Olay forever & doesn’t have a wrinkle on her - not one! She won’t use sunscreen but she always wears hats, sunglasses & covering clothes when outside, so that’s something. 😀

What a nice thing you're doing for your aunt. I recently encouraged my friend who is 75 to try Mineral Fusion cosmetics including their tinted moisturizer as a base and she is in love with putting make up on again. Hello! Thank you for the simple routine. About the SPF, did you mean to say a quarter tsp? That one pump looked like it would fill up my tiny quarter teaspoon... do you use 8 pumps to cover your face?
Great routine. Older people or those with parched dry skin might also consider using petroleum jelly or vaseline all over their face as a final step. This will certainly lock in the moisture as it is the most occlusive cosmetic ingredient out there. Older people usually don’t break out with acne so that wouldn’t be a concern either.
I have started using petroleum jelly as my final barrier step at night. Or, I will combine my prescription vitamin a with it for around my eyes. A lovely, cheap product! 🤍☁️🤍
Eucerin and Vaseline have been so my go to products for 30 yrs whenever I have a dry skin emergency, hands, arms, and sometimes even my face and neck. One overnight treatment makes a huge difference.
I really enjoyed this and found it interesting and useful. I’ve been thinking about all of the different skin care products I’ve tried this past year and how and when I should use them and quite frankly I was getting lost. These are simple steps and you’ve mentioned some products I already use, plus some that I’d like to try for the first time - thanks so very much! You're so lucky to have a living aunt. I have one living aunt on my dad's side. My grandmother used Ponds and wore a sun hat in the summer months. When grandmother died at 82 everyone commented on her beautiful skin. Good for Aunt Mary Jo for wanting to keep her skin pretty and healthy.

I thought spf dosage was 1/4 teaspoon for face AND neck. So I use half that amount on face only, and use a clear, cheaper mineral spf on my neck. Cheaper, and doesn’t rub off tint on clothes. I used the drmtlgy mineral-only spf , but thought I might be allergic to it. Alumina is high on the ingredient list, and I can’t wear antiperspirants with aluminum. I’m not positive. I’ll give it another try when my forehead stops itching!

I can see why it is confusing...the cloth I showed was a limited edition print. The link is to the company that makes The Makeup Eraser, and I can see why it is confusing...they have SO many products and sizes! The original Makeup Eraser is pink, although is does come in several colors and sizes. Occasionally they will release limited edition prints like the one I showed. You can also buy the makeup eraser at sephora and Ulta as well as other places I am sure. Here is the link to Sephora, which shows the original Makeup Eraser. This just confirms that you're genetically blessed! Both you and your aunt are gorgeous! I come from an antiquing family and remember going to a shop in Shakopee often during the late 1970s and through the 1980s. One of the dealers/managers was well into her 70s and had flawless skin. My mom and her friend asked her how she looked so good. Her answer: Ponds cold cream and Vaseline.

Over the summer the left side of my face became very dry & my usual Purity Made Simple Moisturizer was not helping. I watched your video & you talked about CeraVe. I started using both the am & pm & almost overnight my skin went back to smooth. Still continuing to use both. I also use micro fiber cloths & love them. My grandma is 89 yrs old, and i looked in her drawers recently her skin care is literally 4 steps. Cleanser, essence, sunscreen, and moisturizer. Im just more amazed that her hair is still jet black.

Hi Tamara this sounds like a great routine for dry/older skin. Older skin can be very thin, dry and fragile, meaning many of the much hyped ingredients really aren't suitable any more. They don't need too complicated a routine and need a LOT of moisture, as the skin is rarely producing any oil at all anymore. I hope she likes the new products and sees some results. My mum has been complaining for several years about her skin - she has rosacea and dermatitis (I have rosacea and eczema). Despite taking her a variety of products and explaining patch testing and how to use them, they are sitting unused. She won't stop using her favourite fragranced products and has therefore not had any improvement in her rosacea. Nor will she wear spf and you really have to with rosacea. It is very frustrating lol. I've had to ask her not to complain about her skin any more, as she won't try anything to fix it. Her Doctor gave her cream and after reading about the possible side effects on the leaflet, she won't use that either. I was a Registered Nurse for about 20 years prior to disability with a great deal of experience in both Maxillofacial and vascular - wound healing was a big part of that. We can only help those who really want to be helped lol. My rosacea and eczema are really well controlled, as I am on top of any flares immediately. I use the correct skincare for my skin and it's so much more comfortable when it's calm. It has made me mutter a lot (once i'm off the phone) over the last several years, when she complains about being red etc lol. Best wishes.
@Trinity M thanks but she won’t wear a hat and I have offered many times to go through and help her try stuff - I have even given her products as gifts and then had them returned to me months later unopened. It’s more about being set in her ways and unwilling to try other things. If you keep doing the same things then you get the same results. I’m not asking her to change, just swap stuff with what she has already. Nothing complicated was offered. She just is reluctant to try anything else. My point was more about moaning and asking advice then not trying anything, which is frustrating and pointless. Now I just change the subject.
I discovered your channel about a month ago and am loving it! I’ve been trying to stick to a skin care routine (after many false starts in the last year). Considering trying the lactic acid however, I am using Trentinoin (.025). Should I only use the lactic acid on the nights I’m not using trentinoin? Or am I confusing that with a different Ordinary exfoliator that I’ve heard mentioned in other videos? Also, per your recommendation I’ve been using the Mad Hippie cleanser and I love it! I actually look forward to my nightly cleanse now 🥰

I really enjoyed this video. Aunt Mary Jo is lovely and I hope she will enjoy h the updated regime. As for Ponds, I keep a jar in my tennis bag for winter matches. Here in Atlanta, tennis is year round outdoors. When the temps are in the 30s and 40s the Pond Creama S helps my 64 yo dry skin survive the match. I am looking forward to updates with Aunt Mary Jo.
Yes they do .. my skin is so sensitive so we will see , the only creams I can use atm is la mer and Lancôme precious rose but the price is too much so always wanting to try something more affordable.. it sounds great .. X

What a nice thing you're doing for your aunt. I recently encouraged my friend who is 75 to try Mineral Fusion cosmetics including their tinted moisturizer as a base and she is in love with putting make up on again. Hello! Thank you for the simple routine. About the SPF, did you mean to say a quarter tsp? That one pump looked like it would fill up my tiny quarter teaspoon... do you use 8 pumps to cover your face?
Great routine. Older people or those with parched dry skin might also consider using petroleum jelly or vaseline all over their face as a final step. This will certainly lock in the moisture as it is the most occlusive cosmetic ingredient out there. Older people usually don’t break out with acne so that wouldn’t be a concern either.
I have started using petroleum jelly as my final barrier step at night. Or, I will combine my prescription vitamin a with it for around my eyes. A lovely, cheap product! 🤍☁️🤍
Eucerin and Vaseline have been so my go to products for 30 yrs whenever I have a dry skin emergency, hands, arms, and sometimes even my face and neck. One overnight treatment makes a huge difference.
I really enjoyed this and found it interesting and useful. I’ve been thinking about all of the different skin care products I’ve tried this past year and how and when I should use them and quite frankly I was getting lost. These are simple steps and you’ve mentioned some products I already use, plus some that I’d like to try for the first time - thanks so very much! I no longer use a moisturiser in the morning but l use Avene spf & then my foundation.
You're so lucky to have a living aunt. I have one living aunt on my dad's side. My grandmother used Ponds and wore a sun hat in the summer months. When grandmother died at 82 everyone commented on her beautiful skin. Good for Aunt Mary Jo for wanting to keep her skin pretty and healthy.

I thought spf dosage was 1/4 teaspoon for face AND neck. So I use half that amount on face only, and use a clear, cheaper mineral spf on my neck. Cheaper, and doesn’t rub off tint on clothes. I used the drmtlgy mineral-only spf , but thought I might be allergic to it. Alumina is high on the ingredient list, and I can’t wear antiperspirants with aluminum. I’m not positive. I’ll give it another try when my forehead stops itching!

I'm having a hard time with the Cleansing Cloth link. It goes to Make Up Eraser site but I don't see anything that looks like what Tamara is using in this video. Can anyone tell me where to find it?
I can see why it is confusing...the cloth I showed was a limited edition print. The link is to the company that makes The Makeup Eraser, and I can see why it is confusing...they have SO many products and sizes! The original Makeup Eraser is pink, although is does come in several colors and sizes. Occasionally they will release limited edition prints like the one I showed. You can also buy the makeup eraser at sephora and Ulta as well as other places I am sure. Here is the link to Sephora, which shows the original Makeup Eraser. I have about 8 of these cloths, use them a couple of days, and throw them in the wash. The full sized original is about $20 which seems pricey...but They last forever!

I come from an antiquing family and remember going to a shop in Shakopee often during the late 1970s and through the 1980s. One of the dealers/managers was well into her 70s and had flawless skin. My mom and her friend asked her how she looked so good. Her answer: Ponds cold cream and Vaseline.

You can apply the Lactic Acid on dry or damp skin…but I usually do these steps without waiting in between.

Over the summer the left side of my face became very dry & my usual Purity Made Simple Moisturizer was not helping. I watched your video & you talked about CeraVe. I started using both the am & pm & almost overnight my skin went back to smooth. Still continuing to use both. I also use micro fiber cloths & love them. BTW loved seeing your doggie sleeping behind you on the bed. So sweet. ❤️🐕🌹

I’ll be sharing this video with my 79 year old mother. She has a bathroom full of products, but doesn’t have a real regimen. So many things irritate her sensitive skin or feel too heavy so they just sit on the shelf. Hoping these will start her off on a new journey. The best skin care routine is one that you will actually do. 😁💕. I see Timeless has a 10% Vitamin C serum, perhaps we will try that one. The Drmtlgy looks light and pretty. Hi Tamara this sounds like a great routine for dry/older skin. Older skin can be very thin, dry and fragile, meaning many of the much hyped ingredients really aren't suitable any more. They don't need too complicated a routine and need a LOT of moisture, as the skin is rarely producing any oil at all anymore. I hope she likes the new products and sees some results. My mum has been complaining for several years about her skin - she has rosacea and dermatitis (I have rosacea and eczema). Despite taking her a variety of products and explaining patch testing and how to use them, they are sitting unused. She won't stop using her favourite fragranced products and has therefore not had any improvement in her rosacea. Nor will she wear spf and you really have to with rosacea. It is very frustrating lol. I've had to ask her not to complain about her skin any more, as she won't try anything to fix it. Her Doctor gave her cream and after reading about the possible side effects on the leaflet, she won't use that either. I was a Registered Nurse for about 20 years prior to disability with a great deal of experience in both Maxillofacial and vascular - wound healing was a big part of that. We can only help those who really want to be helped lol. My rosacea and eczema are really well controlled, as I am on top of any flares immediately. I use the correct skincare for my skin and it's so much more comfortable when it's calm. It has made me mutter a lot (once i'm off the phone) over the last several years, when she complains about being red etc lol. Best wishes.
@Trinity M thanks but she won’t wear a hat and I have offered many times to go through and help her try stuff - I have even given her products as gifts and then had them returned to me months later unopened. It’s more about being set in her ways and unwilling to try other things. If you keep doing the same things then you get the same results. I’m not asking her to change, just swap stuff with what she has already. Nothing complicated was offered. She just is reluctant to try anything else. My point was more about moaning and asking advice then not trying anything, which is frustrating and pointless. Now I just change the subject.
I discovered your channel about a month ago and am loving it! I’ve been trying to stick to a skin care routine (after many false starts in the last year). Considering trying the lactic acid however, I am using Trentinoin (.025). Should I only use the lactic acid on the nights I’m not using trentinoin? Or am I confusing that with a different Ordinary exfoliator that I’ve heard mentioned in other videos?
Also, per your recommendation I’ve been using the Mad Hippie cleanser and I love it! I actually look forward to my nightly cleanse now 🥰

I really enjoyed this video. Aunt Mary Jo is lovely and I hope she will enjoy h the updated regime. As for Ponds, I keep a jar in my tennis bag for winter matches. Here in Atlanta, tennis is year round outdoors. When the temps are in the 30s and 40s the Pond Creama S helps my 64 yo dry skin survive the match. I am looking forward to updates with Aunt Mary Jo.

Yes they do .. my skin is so sensitive so we will see , the only creams I can use atm is la mer and Lancôme precious rose but the price is too much so always wanting to try something more affordable.. it sounds great .. X
