You did add a fabric medium to the paint, didn't you? You might not need it since it's not something you're going to putting through the wash regularly.
Did you vacuum it before painting? Or run a lint cloth over it to pick up any specks? I haven't painted on upholstery before so I don't know from experience but I've seen others do it when painting upholstered chairs. A stippling brush might have been good to get into the fabric on the first coat of primer. Lots of tedious little dabs into the fabric. Oh, what joy that would have been (excuse my sarcasm)! I've seen that painting over the tape with the base colour before. I'm stunned to see how well it worked on fabric. That looks amazing!
You've just inspired me to paint my old lounge (a mid-century one that belonged to my parents). I was planning to re-upholster it with fabric I bought many years ago but I think I'll try painting it first to tie me over until I can be bothered to try- and probably fail- and eventually try again! (I'm not sure that I'll like the upholstery fabric I bought many years ago so painting might be best anyway.)
