I remember being 27 and seeing this the night it came out on espn and balled my eyes out. I then grabbed a vcr and a tape so I could show anyone that came through my house. Amazing 5 mins!
What I love most about this video is that EVERYBODY in the stands is cheering for this kid!! Even the fans of the opposing team are caught up in the moment and embracing the beauty of what is transpiring!
At the end of the day there are more good people than bad, it's just that the bad ones get noticed more. But in that game, goodness was present in all its splendor.

@@jamedlock83 Lebron James is one of the classiest athletes in the history of sport. How many others have been in the limelight since they were 15 and handled it with such grace? Never any trouble. Much worse people out there..
RIP Kobe Bryant. My fondest memory of Kobe is when he smiled and cheered for JMac at the 2006 ESPYs. Kobe went for 81 in a game that year... other than Wilt Chamberlain's freak 100 game, teh best scoring game in NBA history. and then JMac came along... And Kobe genuinely happy for him. Class act Kobe. Atta Boy.
Just heard someone talk about this game and this kid and watched the video - holy smokes what an awesome story. And I love that all the students were so happy for him. That's not how I remember high school, glad to see kids with empathy and big hearts.
Give a wild High School crowd a reason and they will always cheer. But to see the genuine exuberance from his teammates on the bench is absolutely priceless.
The most underrated part of this video, is that he got up 13 shots in just over 4 minutes. That cracked me up, but this video makes me tear up every time, just like it did in 2006.
Every few months I purposely look for this video to help clear my mind through difficult times and everytime it never fails. I was a basketball player from high school to some pro in Japan while I served and you can watch his game from this little clip and see he has real basketball skills/talent. From his shot to plain ole body movement.
This is my favorite sport video ever......I have been blessed to see Dr J, Alan Iverson live and this is without a doubt favorite!!! I cry every time and proud to say so. Just bought my 3 yr old Autistic Nephew a really nice NBA basketball his suze after taking him to the park and he walked on the court, (actually ran), and the guys let him shoot the ball.....when I took him off he had a fit so I bought him the ball today, then this video hits my feed. There are no consequences!!!
I do too. And I remember the late great Stuart Scott saying something like “if this don’t move you, check your pulse, cause you dead, man!” Such a. Great story
I don't have autism, but I was a bench rider after freshman year in high school. I always got a kick out of the crowd and my teammates getting super excited when I would hit a 3 here and there. This video reminded me of that in a way. Great opportunity and experience for this kid. It's 11 years later, and I bet he still remembers this vividly!
I played 4 years of varsity basketball and the most I've ever scored in an ENTIRE GAME is 28 points. This guy had more points in half of a quarter than 90% of players in an entire game! Imagine if had played all game...
He was just jackin up shots of course he was gonna score 20….that being said…..if they actually ran sets for him and got him some minutes I’m pretty sure Brody woulda balled out, they shot looks pure and he has confidence to shoot it like bruh shoulda been playing

All of his shots sent chills down my spine and tears from my eyes. This brought me so much joy to see. I need a warm towel to remove the tear stains on my face.

Been watching this video at least twice a year for the past 6 or so years. Still motivated whenever I'm reminded that in Jmac's only 4:19 total career playing time, this man has NBA stats. 60% from 3-point range..... Steve Kerr has the next highest all time at 45%. Give this man Jmac his flowers
One of the best videos on UA-cam, period. There’s a million things to love about this story. My favorite is watching his teammates freak the hell out each time he hits a shot.
I came here because i thought life wasnt fair. I needed to see this. So i can be quiet & deal with my downs. Jmac, we all have to be jmac in life. Smile every day & appreciate life & what it gives us
The other team was clearly letting him shoot, and he was only 5'6" in a big high school. He wasn't doing anything but spotting up and shooting lol. I mean I absolutely love this story but it isn't hard to see this. But they didn't have to let him shoot, so huge props to the opposing coach and players.
I can totally relate to J Mac. I didn't make the varsity team. Not even the JV squad. I was put on the sub varsity team. Lowest of the low. Did that stop me? God no. God himself could not stop me. I was in the weight room and on the court every day. I went to the varsity practice and the sub varsity practice every day. When the first game of the season, I was rampant. Unrelenting. The King of the court. At the end of the game, my stats were unmatched. 44 points 4-4 on 3's, 15-15 inside the ark 2-2 on the stripe. Along with 6 blocked shots, 5 steals, and only committing 2 fouls. I did that on almost every single game. I proved myself worthy. To top it all off, I was given the nickname of the left-handed assassin.
@@1TotalJabroniHonestly I think I saw some defense and I know damn well I wouldn't have made any of those shots even if I was open. Not only that but if short players can play in the NBA then I don't think it is too far fetched that he could have been productive in HS over a longer period than one game.
I agree, imagine if he’d been allowed to play more. I think having an autistic bent gives those a robotic like operation where they can dial in and super focus on a task at hand
