- This one took a while, sorry it took so long but I had to fight the VOID. I could not stop until we had attacked one of their settlements. Getting all the necessary upgrades took a lot longer than I though it would. I think it was worth it.
We started out trying to be SWAT wizards and ended up being drug dealing wizards with Thrall warrior wizards fighting for us. It's like a two tier system. If you have skills that are useful to the colony you get hired to do them. Cooking, crafting, Researching etc. If your good at shooting and natured focused you get magically lobotimized and war casked to fight for the colony. Works great.

Honestly, that anima farm might be the nicest thing you’ve ever done for a prisoner.
A bunch of hippies who love drugs and trees locked into a permanent euphoric high, allowed to worship nature 24/7, while also lowering their carbon footprint to almost nothing. I've known some people who would consider that a literal heaven.
Lamb 1: Are you sure this is real? This seems too good to be true. We must have been turned into meat beacons when they anesthetized us for the Nuclear Stomach installation.
Lamb 8: Yeah, we never seem to sleep, we don't have to take many breaks to eat. All we do is worship at a tree all day and occasionally walk through a portal for a few seconds before coming back.

in case you didnt know, you can create "loadouts" with the psycasts you want to show up and can cycle through them to make it easier to find certain ones

At 35:43 Francis acquired the pyromaniac trait.
Well that was a fun episode, and a perfect amount of preparation, as you noticed, if you had a bit less dps/ range or no hurricane, void would just swarm you and instakill entire team. And what is resurrecting them is Nerotonin-4B implant, in fact if you pay closer attention, you would notice that they had a lot more artificial organs in the beginning, but they got shredded and regrown a bunch of times until just indestructible implants were left.
Fun fact: W in Polish is pronounced like a V, so Dawid is pronounced normally like David. Well, more like Dah-veed. Really happy to see you reference Polish cultural elements like Borsch, Vodka and Potatoes! The rest of Poland enjoys these stereotypes! :{D
Draco was feeling weird. She was sad ... but not? That didn't make any sense, but that was how she felt. Willie had take one hit from that weird, fast-moving Void thing and now Willie was dead. She did not want Willie to be dead. Angrily, she shot at that Void thing. Zoe had skipped it away just a second too late. Draco wasn't mad at Zoe, though. That thing had bee awefully fast. But still ... after they finally killed that thing, Draco just stood there. This was the first time since she had joined these people that she did not feel like humming. Draco looked up as a hand landed on her shoulder. Zoe looked at her with eyes that brimmed with so much power that Draco couldn't stand looking her in the eyes more than a second. She looked to the ground again. Zoe then said: "Don't worry, Draco. I know how much Willie means to you. We can fix even death, I promise you that. We'll bring him back to you."
Draco felt relieved. Coming from Zoe, this sounded reasonable. Still, she had this weird feeling in her gut that would probably only go away when Willie was standing next to her again, alive and happy.
"I'm a monster!" Yes... it was the lack of a table for the lambs to eat at that tipped the balance!
I like how this VE mod really isn't that OP when compared to the VOID. Like yeah sure you eventually won, but the death of willie goes to show just how fast things can go wrong. Definitely shouldn't get too complacent with them around. And the whole training montage you had to do just to get to this point makes the victory ever more satisfying.
Even though willie will be resurrected, I think the appropriate response to this setback is a complete and total annihilation of the VOID for their trouble. Only fair

That's just VOID. There's barely anything you can do to stop it aside from keeping them at range. Eventually, once he has a pawn loaded up with their implants, they MIGHT be able to tank a few hits instead.
And it was just a bruise: imagine what a clean hit would do...

I can't believe you let Willie die just seconds before securing the base! Thankfully, you do have psionics that can fix him, but dang, so close to a perfect operation, taking down a whole V.O.I.D. base with zero casualties.
This whole run is so fun to watch, thank you for putting in so much time on all the min-maxing and tedious stuff (like growing the anima grass and all the corpse management) so we can see what monstrosities these mods are truly capable of creating (without having to spend literal days trying to figure it out ourselves). Feedback & comments:
1) Video description could use an update. It's now a three tiered caste system: Workers, Caskets, Lambs. One could argue that traveling merchants with luci addictions embody a fourth tier.
2) Autocast only works with certain specific psycasts, namely combat casts that are meant to replace guns. Icycle, IIRC, has damage that scales with psi sensitivity. I don't think there will be many autocastable abilities that come close to competing with warcasket guns.
3) There are better ways to farm psylevels. Neuroformers and rituals (blinding and anima tree) instantly grant a psylevel, completely ignoring the EXP requirement and LEVEL CAP. You can get a psycaster to level 100+ this way... dump all the levelups into Psystats, and the focus costs for psycasts will have a 100% discount.
4) A short list of incredibly powerful psycasts you haven't played with yet:
Raid Pause (Chronopath). You've used this once or twice, but haven't capitalized on it's value. It should work on the raids that attack combat tiles (including a VOID combat tile). Only attacks break Raid Pause, utilities like freezing, psychic shock, weather effects, and insanity won't necessarily break the pause. If combined with invisibility/skip/doomsday, should keep incoming raiders clumped up for longer. Study needed.
Snap Freeze (Frostshaper). Infamously broken, maybe have been patched. Two casts were an instant KO on ANY unit to include centipedes. This is because the game only has heat armor, nothing has cold armor.
Blizzard (Frostshaper). All outdoor pawns gain hypothermia and slowed movement. Do some quick construction to keep your SWAT team "indoors", and you'll be able to keep this active during combat.
Steel Construct (Technomancer). Individually useless, but in a group, they make great meatshields. A layer of constructs 1-2 deep could have saved Willie.
Paralysis Pulse (Necromancer). Should be able to knockout VOID units in a massive AOE. Test if Health Swap can wake the caster up. If not, have the Lambs cast this one.
Summon Pack (Wildspeaker). Useless but fun. Can serve as a distraction while setting up a forward operating base while assaulting a tile.
Obscure (Nightstalker). PERMANENT invisibility, as long as the caster does not "attack". Requires an Eclipse to prevent sunlight from breaking the invisibility. Perfect for scouting and using non "attack" psycasts.
Eclipse (Nightstalker). Causes an Eclipse, turning the entire map dark, and therefore targetable by many Nightstalker abilities.
Shadowskip (Nightstalker). The caster can teleport to any dark place on the map, ignoring line of sight and distance completely.
Decoy (Nightstalker). Another way to protect your front line from melee rushes.
Shadowfocus (Nightstalker). Some more psy sensitivity.
Intensify Shadows (Nightstalker). Looks cool, turns dim light into pitch darkness.
Assassinate (Nightstalker). Can target ANYWHERE on the map that is dark, ignoring line of sight and range. Perform melee attacks that scale with psy sensitivity.
Luck Transfer (Harmonist). Makes the unlucky target always miss all attacks, makes the lucky target always hit all attacks, IIRC. If you want to 1v1 void in melee, use this.
Transmutation (Harmonist). Drug stacks are a mediocre target. 150 flake = 150 * 14 = 2,100 silver. A masterwork (enchant quality) grand sculpture is 6,380 silver. A gold one is worth 40k silver. Masterwork Cataphract armor is worth 5k, as are most persona grade weapons and power armors. Any unwanted void loot is another great target, especially if they can form stacks. If you abuse stack limit mods (ie, thrumbofur tailcaps x10) you can get 50k + market value on a single stack, resulting in getting multiple copies of an item from transmutation instead of just one. (IIRC, maybe have been patched.)
If you elected to add Hemosage and Puppeteer, they are pretty broken too. Hemosage can inflict naseau on all human pawns on the entire map (bypasses psychic deafness) and have an artillery ability that shoots over walls and with scaling damage. Puppeteers are what you are doing with thralls, but more ethically abhorrent.
Wow! Either you've copy-pasted the Wiki or you've deeply studied the game and the mods. (no offence, it looks the same from someone who's just a Rimworld spectator)
The Group focus does work when meditating at the tree. Group doesn't really effect what a pawn focuses on, it's just a flat boost to their psyfocus gain based on how many pawns are around them. There's simply pure gains with the Group focus.
By the way, Vanilla Psycasts Expanded gives you the ability to create custom ability arrangements, so you can put all of the ones you use most in one area, hide ones you know you won't be using, scroll through them, etc. It helps SO much with finding the right ability in the heat of battle. It'll save you all those five-minute spans of time searching for the right ability.
I feel like this episode, and this series as a whole just goes to show how not vanilla many of the "Vanilla Expanded" mods are. VOID has always been one of the most powerful factions out there. Not completely invincible, having that little bit of chance to be able to actually fight them, but they got annihilated here. By powers in a mod that are supposed to be balanced around vanilla. That's not to say that you can't do some insane things in vanilla Rimworld (see: Murder Rangers), but it is just ridiculous how anyone could look at this and say "Yeah, that's in line with base game balance."
FJ made a completely self-sustained colony on a maxed out difficulty combat tile before Biotech came out.
Probably worth keeping in mind you're also observing it being used by a guy exploiting the living hell out of what the expanded psy-casts mod can do here. There's a lot of things that aren't very balanced there, but to reach this level of busted you very much have to go out of your way to get there.
Basically you guys argue it is balanced. Just balanced by the fact you normally have to put insane effort and resources into getting that sweet, sweet bustedness.
So my take is being a ruthless psychopath is a superpower in this game.
I imagine that most players would think that the vanilla expanded mods are quite balanced, but this is FJ we are talking about here, If there is a way to exploit a game or mod, then FJ will find it, and use that exploit to the fullest. Most players don't go to such lengths when playing with mods, and most players don't play on the highest difficulty, so there is no incentive for them to resort to exploits in order to "win".
I did a comparison of VPE and vanilla psycasters. A max level (6) vanilla psycaster has neural heat and sensitivity equivalent to a VPE level 10 psycaster. The default level cap in VPE is 30. You do the math. When VPE launched, there was no level cap. There's STILL no level cap if you use rituals and items to gain psylevels. Nothing's stopping a player from dumping 100 anima linking rituals into a single pawn to give them 100 psystats with 100% focus cost reduction.
That's before mentioning that EACH psycasting path in VPE is significantly stronger than vanilla rimworld, even the "trash" tier Wildspeaker.
I don't care what unit of measurement you use, or what you measure, there is absolutely no planet on which VPE could be considered "vanilla balance".
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the mod, and I think it's crazy impressive. I appreciate and love the effort that went into producing the mod. I only take offense to it being marketed as, to quote the steam page, "[psycasts] each kept in line with vanilla psycasts when it comes to balancing and visuals". What vanilla psycast was Consume Corpses or Transmutation balanced against?

That is the problem with blunt damage versus slashing, which can do 'pass-though' damage. Swords are superior to hammers with what you are attempting to do with killskip.
Can't remember whether you have focus in VE:Psy. If so, it increases sight, which increases melee hit chance.
Also, Rimworld really hates 2 colonies. It is a massive resource hog for each additional colony. That number of tribals on a single tile would have resulted in significantly higher TPS.
It's still sad you went for Psy over RoM, though you will have a far easier time with VOID this way. Plus, you are not killing yourself with hard-core options for RoM.

A couple of episodes ago, I commented that FJ was now "lost" to the dark side, this episode not only confirms that opinion, but also indicates that there is a certain willingness, and perhaps fascination, for FJ to progress even further along that dark path.
This episode also confirms that only mad men would willingly install the V.O.I.D. mod, because the only way to survive, or even to win against them, is to fully embrace the darkness of other, more powerful mods, and the evil options contained wihin those mods, to become as powerful as the V.O.I.D.

I assume that kill-skip didn't wok because of the absence of the CE mod. If I remember correctly, if your melee overpowers them then the damage goes crush through phase until it completes the total damage or kills them. If you hit a finger for example for 10 damage but your total damage is 75 then the finger hit crushes through the finger and chest, so they die.
Francis casually: Willie's dead, but that can be fixed.

Seeing how confused he was when they started resurrecting. Ahhh, priceless. Watching him get cocky enough to allow one into melee range was just delicious. Those warcaskets may as well be made out of papier-mâché compared to VOID

Next step: Temporarily settle on a VOID combat tile? Bring in all of the colonists and lambs into the tile and see if you can spawn a massive wave of VOID. If it's too much, dip back home using the gate.
I'm not sure how the game calculates how many VOID to send. The monetary value of a VOID pawn is incredible (check 1:16:21). I'm not sure if the monetary value of a VOID pawn is considered when determining the size of the wave.
Monetary value is only used on the player's side (with pawn count and some other factors like recent injuries) to calculate raid size through intermediate "raid points", while the raiders themselves use that raid point score to determine how many raiders should be sent by spending those points, with each raider "class" (pentient, scavenger gunner, janissary, centipede, etc) having a combat power rating that serves as their price.
If you've ever seen quests that involve a fight say that the enemy force will be approximately some size and then have an entirely different composition to the one listed (especially with mechanoid raids), it's because it's listing an equivalently priced raid. Similarly you might also see that quest raids are labelled as being double-sized meaning they have double the budget as a standard raid.
Add increased melee attack speed to the mix with Killskip. It is luck dependend you dont hit a limb (although it should be rare since zeus hammer can hit multiple body parts). But she will kill like 1 or 2 while waiting for cooldown. My vamp also has increased movespeed from deathrest, 20 melee and archotec arms, legs just bionic just plow trough the attackers while i wait for killskip. But sometimes the killchain is just amazing.
You can also use the luck transfer (harmonist) to get rid of pesky misses.
You very nearly got dominated here, seeing how Willie died in one hit and Brian nearly died too. All that effort to minmax is sorely needed just to stand a chance.

As much as I'd love to see Francis add all the Races Expanded mods to really flesh the races out (and get more genetics), I don't think he needs to. He took on a VOID base with 7 people, and won.
I guess my only suggestion now is CAI 5000 and let the carnage begin.
I can't recommend CAI 5000 highly enough. It makes everything far more interesting, from early game to late game. I don't think it's possible to survive using both CAI and 500% threat, not without VE mods or the equivalent.

You could set two pawns up with those grenade launchers, focusing on the same spot, and just teleport enemies into their target area. Maybe have a guy standing off to the side with a machine gun of some sort, to finish off the ones that luckily make it out.

There is an amazing synergy between health swap, resurrection, psyring, thrall, the deathless gene and the blindsight meme which allows you to produce a huge amount or organs and also lots of psylevels at the cost of corpses. Basically, you use the resurrection to make the body alive again, thrall to recruit them and blinding ceremonies to give them a psylink. If they fail to get a psylink, no problem: healthswap them to a harvesting dummy (aka a humanlike with the deathrest gene used entirely for harvesting purpose) to kill them and start again. If they get blindness from the resurrections: no problem, blind eyes don't get transferred, so you can healthswap them with a psycaster to transfer their eyes (which can then be used to farm psylevels), healthswap them again with the harvesting dummy, and start again. They got dementia from the resurrection? That's honestly not a dealbreaker, but you can also cure this: transfer their eyes, transfer their organs, remove the skull on their corpse, then resurrect. In the end, you gain low level psycasters "lambs" with 10 digits, digits you can use to cast resurrect and fuel the whole process. Once a psycaster "lamb" has spent all their digits: healthswap with the harvesting dummy and send the fully spent corpse to the "hat" department. Interestingly, since all their wounds will be healed by resurrection, you will actually get more human meat and leather from them. Each corpse will earn you 64,000 silvers worth of organs, lots of medical exp and around 3 or 4 excess psy lvl. You can get be a bit more psylinks by having tribals meditate at the tree and/or by harvesting the psyessence of spent lambs. You may also un-taint apparels by making your lambs-in-training wear them before you transfer their organs to the harvesting dummy, as resurection un-taint any apparels from a corpse. It's not too rare to see corpses with hyperweave pants, shirts and dusters, so being able to reclaim, repair and increase their quality to masterwork kinda nice. You may also surgically reclaim artificial organs and implants from corpses through the whole process.
