“Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall” The windows at Hardwick were a sign of Bess of Hardwicks wealth and influence and the hall had more windows than any other great house of the time
i love how groups are trying to preserve history but i don't like the take that we need to preserve them as ruins and habitats for animals... this feels like we are cheating ourselves out of something more special if we could try to restore it in a way that takes it back into time a bit more... put some paint on the walls, put a roof on it, make some living history
I want to see a before and after when it's done
Magnificent to see such an heritage being maintained.
Such an important restoration! Great job!

Did the scaffold tour at the old hall when the conservation work was being done. What a piece of history, hat's off to all involved.
Wonderful to see conservation of both a historical building but also wildlife that now uses that building for shelter.
Such a important restoration, A great job.

Why not put a roof over it again?
Will they put a roof back on???
