Hello, no I cut the strip against the grain (sorry, I'm not sure if this term is right in english). If you cut it on the bias it's gonna be much more voluminous and you will lose the pattern(black & white blocks). But I recommend to test it individual on your fabric (for example bouclé I would definitely cut on the bias).
@@sewingdiary ok thanks! I have boucle and it doesn’t look like it would work that easily. I did one with tweed on bias. Took forever! Yours is quite pretty
@@Justdiggingit did you tried to split them with the needle? Or you can make little cuts, like every 1-2 cm, along the threads. And than split. If on bias doesn't look nice, try along and against the grain. Because on different fabric you have to choose different direction.
