Hi Erin, The good news is, you could make a living as a mind reader. That seriously is the next video on my list! I'm going to do a side-by-side experiment comparing the effects of "dye under the ice" with "dye over the ice". I'll keep you posted! Take care, Nancy
Nancy Gamon yay!! I can’t wait to see it!! Have you also tried sprinkling extra soda ash on the dye or ice? I read that ice dyeing can rinse out the soda ash as it melts. Sorry for all the questions! I’m away from home for work for two weeks and I miss my tie dying! So excited to try your methods. Thank you for sharing and answering comments.
Hi Erin, I have read and wondered about the same thing! Testing the effects of sprinkling extra soda ash on top is ALSO on my to do list. I can see I had better get busy making some more videos! Nancy
Hi Erin - Here's a new video comparing the side-by-side results of placing the dye over vs. under the ice: ua-cam.com/video/iN3IzhKARCQ/v-deo.html Take care! Nancy
Hello! I had my notifications on for your videos and watched it right away! They are both great and I can’t pick the one I like best! Thanks for uploading that video. 😁
Hi Jesse, great question! Since not all of the powder turns to liquid during the ice melting phase, I cover projects with a cloth to protect them from the little spots that can occur from clumps of undissolved powder sitting on the fabric. Some people like the spots and leave projects uncovered. Some people turn garments inside out to lessen the appearance of spots on the front side. If you're not having issues with spots (or don't mind them) just carry on as you are! Thanks for watching. :) Nancy
Hi Dog Lady, How interesting! It's possible that the video itself is muted. (Try looking at the bottom left, near where the time tracker is displayed - is there a slash over the volume icon? If so, click it to unmute.) If that's not it, do a quick internet search - I think you'll find lots of other tips about solving the "no sound" issue. Thanks for your message! Nancy
"Don't cry before it's dry!" Excellent advice!
haha! It's become my mantra...
🤩 wow I am so amazed thanks 🙏 for sharing
Oh, great! Thanks for the kind words. :)
Amazing video!
Hey thanks, Shawn!
your trick is very nice to memories. ❤
Glad you think so!
Very nice tutorial.
Thanks, Chelle. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful! Have you ever tried putting the dye powder down before adding the ice? Curious how that would effect the design.

Sploochy splotches 😂
You know just what I mean, right? :)
I think if you will turn your shirt inside out the little speckles won't show.
great tip!
Is there a reason you cover the shirt before adding ice/dye?! I usually place the ice directly on the shirt
