- 🇷🇸 Nova Varoš (Нова Варош) - Small town Serbia is the home for Part 5 of my 2022 Serbia series - Nova Varoš in the district of Zlatibor! Just an hour from Užice on the bus (also not far from Čačak, Požega and Zlatibor), Nova Varoš (new town, formerly Jeni Kasaba) is known for its pine trees and dramatic landscape, stretching as far as the eye can see! Is this Europe’s scenery no one sees?
Although a small town, there’s still amazing Serbian food such as burek and pita sirnica, pršuta, kajmak, and cheese, hidden churches, cemeteries, a mosque, skiing and hiking opportunities as well as geek-out moments for classic car and urban architecture enthusiasts!
People often only go to Belgrade and Novi Sad. But the scenery, history, architecture, people and Serbian food in this region are all amazing. There are great bus/train connections to locations such as Zlatibor, Bajina Bašta, Užice, Požega, Ovčar Banja, and more!
This is my 5th visit to Serbia (I was first here in 2019). I have managed to explore quite extensively, visiting outstanding locations such as Kruševac, Subotica, and Kragujevac!

Honking is some kind of a tradition and a showing off. After the wedding ceremony, all guests follows the newly married couple, and many of them honk. The honking is also presented, when the groom goes to the bride's house. 13:25 is the Chapel. It's usually built by some rich people, in older times, to show off. By the way, you done a good job showcasing Serbia. I'll have to beat that.

You mentioned earlier that you will go to Eastern Serbia. Well, since you like cemeteries you should visit Rajac, near Negotin. It's cemetery is unique in Serbia.

The honking....one of the wedding traditions in Serbia. The groom's side does the honking as they drive to the bride's house, to 'claim' her. Other traditions follow when they get there, resulting in revels and lots of schnapps...
How I've never known this until now is a mystery! Thanks for the info! There are some really unique wedding traditions in Serbia for sure!

I'll be there for the first time in 3 years after Serbia. Will be doing some London videos but not you're usual boring Buckingham palace videos. Graffiti, brutalism and what people don't normally show!

That's awesome! It's a great point that I often forget that not everyone is in the position to travel. I might approach some future videos from this perspective! And your first point I've always felt like I fit in to Serbia easily, it must be the 30% Balkan in me haha although not from Serbia!

I believe myself that people in central part of Serbia, in smaller cities are much better than people here in Belgrade... So many wonderful and calm people there that i have met. I have family in Gornji Milanovac, which is an old city too, not as old as some but still is... Anyway yeah, there is a common theme amongst some older folks who always say that children from Central Serbia when studying in Belgrade do much better than other kids, because they are more aware how much is at stake and how much money their family is giving them... which usually happens, they do better than most from Belgrade
@@davidostrowski679 one more thing if u see like cop cars on road stopping cars they do that as like regular check or if a car is speeding over the limit or any other unlawful driving they do... Zlatibor will be amazing. It's such a nice place... Idk if u ever visited but Stara mountain is a nice place, the view up top is amazing there... There is one guy from Brazil btw who came here and lives still here, fell in love with everything, he has the accent and speaks as much as native people do... He has UA-cam channel, forgot his name but mostly videos are on Serbian, but he knows so many good places dude... Thiago Ferreira is his name... Maybe try contacting him for info if u interested 🤔

It's about joy, as you sense. I always like Prince Charles because he was unashamed to talk about place. Architecture of whatever sort becomes balderdash in the face of place. I've sensed he understood that. If global warming is a real thing it's ironic. Many of the right dismissed it too much because it hit buttons on the left's inclination to avoid reality. Association and comfort. But how often have they not looked at reality? Comfort zones. We must associate things in order to thing. Categorization allows thought. It also leads to gossip and comfort. Great! I look forward to the rest of Serbia and the rest of your travels! At least there's very little indication you'll buy a camper and travel with a cat. But if you stay in some worthy place in Poland and get a cat...Who knows? I'm thinking of getting an angel since they became allowed in my building. Given my earlier blatherings you probably know how open I am to angels. Seems absurd not to be. Far be it from me to say it's a full moon when it's not. You and I look at it and see the moon from both perspectives!
You should've gone uphill to the hotel Panorama, Zlatar mountain. That's the most beautifull part of Nova Varos.

3:48 could be a wedding
The honking and flags out of sunroofs will be a wedding convoy . There may be local variation but I went to a Serbian wedding in the U.K. and the closest male relative of the groom ( the brother in this case ) had to go to the home of the bride and ‘buy her ‘ off her family . This money gets recycled at the reception as a wedding gift to the couple. The negotiation can be quite a spectacle with bids being rejected by the family . On this occasion the brother filled a briefcase with paper cut into £20 sized notes and put real notes on the outside so it looked like there was a million pounds in the case when he opened it up . Everyone knew it was a joke but played up to it for a laugh.
