Thank you so much for sharing. I moved to Chicago after graduating from FOHI in 1994. Never been back to Fontana but I always have Fontana in my heart. Your videos bring back memories of my childhood growing up in Fontana. THANK YOU
I love your videos. I remember all of this. I’m 30 so I remember this time!! I miss Lucky, Kragen and Thrifty!!! I grew up in Temecula in the 90s/2000s.
1MNUTZ and dont forget kragen as Soon as I saw that Brought back so many memories As a matter of fact my dad worked in that shopping center For a couple of months Meanwhile construction Pick back up This was back in the 90 around the time of this video
Wow I was born 1997 and moved to Fontana in 2000. Till this day I still live in this city. Thank you for showing these! Brought back some old memories. I’m amazed on how much has changed and how much is still here.
I go back even further. I used to live in a house on the site of the Lucky's parking lot. I recognized the Sierra Liquor Store which was there in 1968. There was a field surrounding us, our house alone in it. We were renting, my family being very poor with no dad. I attended Juniper for part of 1st grade and part of 2nd grade. We moved a lot. My number one memory is one time having to walk home by myself and being very afraid. When I got to Sierra I did not know how to cross a street but when I saw a dog crossing I thought maybe it ain't so hard. The speed limit was 70 miles an hour then and that dog got killed right in front of me. I still remember that like it happened yesterday. I walked to Foothill (there was no sidewalk then), past the liquor store, to the light and home safe. My mom is 85 and she got a kick out of your video. Thanks.
Honestly, I didn’t grow up in Fontana, and don’t remember if I’ve ever been there in general but I know of the area. I loved watching this video and seeing Thrifty and Lucky cause we had those stores as well. I grew up in Glendale/Griffith Park area. I loved seeing the fashion, the old cars, the tv and commercials that played on it, the radio, all of it. The PS1 in that catalog, the gas prices wow!! Love it. Thank you so much. We need more videos like this. Even the prices on the Del Taco drive thru menu. Like how did you know to record those things? So smart
Hey Gilbert I ben watching your videos for a couple years now and injoy them really cool looking at around Fontana how it look I ben living here like 20 years now
Ah man I been to that Lucky's 1000 times when i was young. My parents still live right down the street. They just tore down Sierra Liquor a couple months ago. Hey what elementary and Jr high did you go to? I went to North Tamarind then Alder, I think I'm 1 year older than you born in 1980.
I miss Thrifty, which is basically Rite Aid nowadays but it still seemed more quaint when they were Thrifty Drug Stores. And Del Taco! Some of thee BEST burgers you can ever get at a fast food place and their fries are awesome - crinkle cut! Thanks for sharing your memories Gilby!
I didn't live in Fontana in the 90s. I was living in san Bernardino in the 90s. It used to be a rite aid. It is now a WSS store. The liquor store got tore down in the 2010s. I'm glad they put a sidewalk where that house is at. Some of the places are still around.
I grew up in Fontana in the 80s and seeing how much development changed the city and how much new housing was built in the 90s things definitely changed in just 10 years. All the development along Foothill Blvd brought new housing and business. I can say I’m old enough to remember when everything north of Foothill was just empty fields.
A lot of Hondas in this vid. I got my first car in '96. It was a 9 year old Accord. So even I had one that year. Im from the Detroit area so our car landscape was quite different. Lots of new Jeeps, Grand Ams/Prixs, Dodge Intrepids, Caravans and Neons. Tons of Tauruses. Not many Nissans and far fewer Toyotas. A few of the cars I saw on this vid were already kind of scarce here. I look at todays parking lots and its a sea of tall SUVs and crossovers.
I'm pretty sure that Lucky's was my first job in October 1996. Does anyone know if it eventually turned Lucky / Sav on instead of thrifty? I thought i worked at a brand new store up the road on baseline but don't remember anymore.
I used to go to that shopping center with my mom all the time, the lucky was Fiesta Mexicana at the time and I would wait for her to do her nails right next to the store
I Ben in this erea since 2001 on Paine st crazy how I just notice that Ford short bed truck with the rollover bars n big lights on top drive into the rite, aid parking lot and I stil see that truck driving around here in Fontana in2019
Because morons vote in Democrats and we pay 14.5% more in Gas taxes and r the Most taxed State in the Whole United State's. Newsome is getting recalled like Grey Davis did right now. That illegal loving Bastard will be out in February when he is recalled from being Governor of California. 95% of the State don't want sanctuary policies and it was never Voted by California residents. Over 20 Million have signed the Petition to remove Newsome and it only take 1.5 Million for him to be recalled
We don't have a "Lucky" store here in the southeastern U.S. A lot of people are saying online that they used to remember it being called "Lucky's". #Mandelaeffect
Back when L.A. was a quaint little town. Hey Gilbert you need to get your old video cameras you bought off ebay and get some footage with those and post it.
cgeorge6786 I though 3.52 was quite a lot though. Here we are 1.9 millions and I think that's huge. In my eyes small towns are cities with a population lower than 50 000. 1 000 000< are big metropolis (in North America)
Thank you so much for sharing. I moved to Chicago after graduating from FOHI in 1994. Never been back to Fontana but I always have Fontana in my heart. Your videos bring back memories of my childhood growing up in Fontana. THANK YOU

I love Del Taco. I sure do miss Del Taco. Best delicious tacos.
One of the best from the great state of California where I was born.
Those little Hondas were sure popular in the 90s. Some of the best Honda ever made,in my opinion. I love the nostalgia in seeing these videos
That was AWESOME seeing the Super Shops store and at the same time listening to the sbc idle👍👍👍
I didn’t move to Fontana until 2004 so I love seeing how things use to look 👀
Hey Gilbert I ben watching your videos for a couple years now and injoy them really cool looking at around Fontana how it look I ben living here like 20 years now
Luckys.....Wow, what a blast from the past.
Welcome to my time capsule!
Gas Prices in California from 1996 was $1.27 on Saturday, March 2, 1996
I wish it was a 1.27 a gallon again lol !
Thank you for these memories, Gilbert. Watching this on 6/2/20 as the world burns in chaos.
7:40 Wow, the original Grazzianos Pizza.....used to go there every Friday night after the football games,
6:49 PS1 used to cost nearly $300.00 Bucks
Ah man I been to that Lucky's 1000 times when i was young. My parents still live right down the street. They just tore down Sierra Liquor a couple months ago. Hey what elementary and Jr high did you go to? I went to North Tamarind then Alder, I think I'm 1 year older than you born in 1980.
Most of the stores are still around in 2022 wow 👌
Thanks for the video buddy. Consider changing your channel name to "Gilbert's Time Machine".
I miss Thrifty, which is basically Rite Aid nowadays but it still seemed more quaint when they were Thrifty Drug Stores. And Del Taco! Some of thee BEST burgers you can ever get at a fast food place and their fries are awesome - crinkle cut!

In 20 years, the regular taco has only gone up 20 cents. That's not too bad.
Cool video- I stayed on Mango- where that elementary school is located- there was a chicken farm there back in the day
A lot of Hondas in this vid.

I remember both of those commercials. Phil Hartman was such a big star back then. It's sad he died.

Did you guys see the fast food prices back then WOW!!!
Did you see the price of gas? WOW I remember paying $1.29 a gallon.
Luckys is now an El Super grocery store. The thriftys is now a rite-aid, but the gas station and Del Taco remain the same.
I almost died at a Lucky's on Foothill in the 80's. If you're a glass is half full person you can say I was really Lucky!
The Lucky Supermarket is now El Super while the Thrifty drug store is now Rite Aid. Also the Kragen Auto Parts store is now O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Did you see the gas prices @3:25? Those were better times.$1.27 for regular.
That's my hood boi!
Todays Gas Prices in California is over $4.00 dollars

Somehow, I miss Joe in your newer vids. You should try to locate him and do a reunion vid 👍
Still lived there in 96 . Sierra liquor was the initial stop on the way to lytle creek! Just saying.
Back when L.A. was a quaint little town. Hey Gilbert you need to get your old video cameras you bought off ebay and get some footage with those and post it.
cgeorge6786 L.A was a little town back then?
You're wrong dude Los Angeles was always a big city!
Whiskey Pool Wrong LA only had a population of 3.52 million in 1996:)
cgeorge6786 I though 3.52 was quite a lot though. Here we are 1.9 millions and I think that's huge. In my eyes small towns are cities with a population lower than 50 000. 1 000 000< are big metropolis (in North America)
Whiskey Pool I was just being sarcastic LA has been huge for a long time.
cgeorge6786 Yes haha just look LA from the sky! It's actually larger than NYC by size!
Back when the mountains were white during March! Now it’s all dry and hot 😒

Gilbert, have you ever thought about drinking and smoking, just like your brother?
Nothings really changed..other than gas prices
Gas was a buck 47 WOW
Back in the 90z before it all went to hell
Add a dollar to the gas price then and that’s what we’re paying in Austin
That's cheap considering this was 20 years ago. I think it's actually under the inflation curve.
Tupac was still alive and shocking the world
