Very good, the only thing with which I would take issue in the ESV translation of 1 Peter 3:21. When it says that we are not saved by the putting away of the filth of the flesh (KJV), it’s not talking about washing dirt from our skin, it’s a parallel to Hebrews 9:13-14. The blood sacrifices of the OT provided complete forgiveness of sin, (Leviticus 4:20, 26, 31, 35, 5:10, 13, 16, 18, 6:7, 19:22). Leviticus 4, 5, & 6:1-7 deal with the burnt offerings commanded by God to atone for sin. In each case we read the emphatic statement that through the animal sacrifices “They shall be forgiven.” That is the putting away of the filth of the flesh or sanctified to the purifying of the flesh. But Peter is saying that even though forgiveness is included in our baptism into Christ it is not what saves us but rather our conscience is purged from dead works, that is ,when the old man is crucified with Him and the body of sin is destroyed, from that point on the motions of sin no longer work in our members to bring forth fruit into death. (Romans 7;5-6) So then we have a pure conscience void of offense toward God and man. (Acts 24:16) That’s salvation from sin promised by the angel to Joseph in Matthew 1:21. It’s always best to stick with the 1611 KJV ❤️

People are quoting John 3:16. That statement was BEFORE the Great Commission was instituted where baptism for all is
a condition. Further, even in Jn 3:16 it says those who believe SHOULD be saved not ARE saved. Many people BELIEVE that Jesus
is Christ and the Son of God but refuse to follow him as Lord. Are they saved? True belief is Jesus as LORD means to do what He
says without hesitation nor quibble with reference to baptism. Can you imaging as person claiming Jesus as his LORD and
just refusing or putting off to do the very first outward act of obedience He asks one to do? Of course not.

@@TheHeavenTestdotnet-gr2ou Acts 8: 12 partially answers your question. The topic of Jn 3:5 is about entering the Kingdom of God. Under the Great Commission, Phillip preached to the Samaritans about that topic ( good news about entering the Kingdom of God) and they were baptized. Later this same man (Phillip) preached to the Eunuch in vs 36 and the Eunuch said " there is water , can I get baptized?" All of this taken together shows the topic of Jn 3:5 being implemented under the Great Commission. HGence, water in Jn 3: 5 has reference to water baptism .

@@TheHeavenTestdotnet-gr2ou Very simple. Jesus is answering the question Nicodemus asked. How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born? This is born of water, when the water sack breaks. Jesus said you must be born both ways to enter the Kingdom. Just because Jesus was speaking in general terms doesn’t mean that salvation comes from saying “the sinner’s prayer.” No such concept is taught anywhere in the scriptures. No one was born again until after Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. Then Jesus told them what to do to make disciples. Baptize them so that the old sinful man that we inherited when the water broke, could be crucified and the body of sin destroyed in baptism. (Romans 6:3-7) This is born again, when the old man is crucified and the new man rises. Ephesians 5:25-27 says that He sanctifies and cleanses His church with the washing of WATER according to the word. It then becomes a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, but be holy and without blemish! Then according to Hebrews 12:28-29, His grace gives us the power to serve Him acceptably with reverence and Godly fear, and thereby escape the consuming fire.

God does have an ordained process or procedure of accepting His gift of salvation best expressed in Acts 18:8, hearing, believing, and being baptized. It is God's prerogative to select the process that He wants for individuals to come to Him, and He has chosen hearing, believing, and being baptized. Every detailed account of conversion in Acts follows this process. Acts 2, 8, 9/22, 10/11, 16, 18, 19. Those Ephesians who were saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8), also followed this same God ordained procedure in Acts 19:1-5, culminating in baptism in the name of the Lord, which is water baptism, see Acts 10:47-48.

It doesn't say exactly that in scripture, but the principle is still found in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will saved. That is basically what this prayer is saying that Jesus is Lord and Savior and confessing that with the mouth. So, even though it doesn't explicitly say in the Bible pray this way, I believe that someone can truly be saved that way based on Roman's 10:9-10. It also says Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

Great verses to mention! But Ephesians 2:8 says "for by grace ye are saved through faith" (KJV). No need for confession nor believing in the heart. Or if we go with Acts 2:38 we need to repent and be baptized. Actually, Luke 13:3 mentions repenting to avoid perishing. Still the thief on the cross defended Jesus' innocence, acknowledged His kingdom, and let Jesus speak him to Paradise (Luke 23:40-43). The point is thus: only considering one set of Bible verses to find the way to salvation is not advisable. We must consider the whole New Testament.

In baptism The body of the sins of the flesh is destroyed by FAITH in the operation of God, who raised Jesus from the dead. (Colossians 2:10-12) That’s how we are saved by faith. Calvinists invented, “faith alone,” to negate God’s operation in baptism. Baptism isn’t salvation, it is only the starting point to a life of holiness that leads to the end, everlasting life.
