Omg I’m planning a solo trip and had originally booked an Airbnb as well. It was so beautiful and had great reviews. Less than a month before the trip I started getting this strange feeling. I just didn’t have peace about it. Something was just telling me it wasn’t safe. I followed my intuition and decided to book a hotel. Afterwards a strong sense of peace came over me. INTUITION IS #1. God was protecting me from something!
Hi Kai! Love this! Amen! He is always protecting us! I totally agree. We have to go where the peace is. Even if we are losing a little bit of money in the process, it's worth it to be at peace and safe! 💕
@@swisdom9117 my trip was cut short but it was beautiful. I went to Miami. it’s like I could almost physically feel God protecting me everywhere I went during the short time that I was there. Thanks for asking 😇
Biggest mistake I made was bringing my friend with me twice. We both wanted to do different things. I couldnt do what I wanted when i wanted. Never again.
@@KRodCollective yeah I can put up with him in short doses but I can't travel with him. He wanted to sunbathe all day either at the hotel or on the beach and drink all night till morning like 7am. I wanted to get up early and explore. Experience the culture, eat at nice restaurants and have just a few drinks in the evening. I've learned that its best to solo travel. I dont think it matters who I go with even if it was a partner or wife it wouldn't be as fun.
@@garyrobinson8665 Great point Gary. Travelling with others is not always fun. You feel pressurized to do things someone else's way. At the moment, I am travelling in Croatia and every day I just do what I want to do, when I want to do it, and how I want to do it. No pressures, just freedom. It can get awkward when dining alone at night, other than that I am having a great time. Last month I travelled to Jamaica and had a blast. Made so many friends and memories. I gave up my job to explore the world and spend more time on my own development. Its been great so far
Don't stay too near train stations, in my (female) solo travels, areas around train stations have many homeless people (mostly males) and generally speaking, what looks/sounds like people with mental health issues. I try and look as androgynous as possible (I'm 5' weigh 110 lbs; I'm not a big person) and never tell anyone I'm on my own. I've stayed in Airbnb's solo without any problems but I don't tell them I'm travelling solo. I say my partner is out looking for something, eg. buying a sim card, a parking spot, a pharmacy etc. I book mostly day tours with tour companies in those countries and have encountered no problems. I do lots of research before I go, have paper and google maps, stay at places that are on the same street or a street near the Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, Four Seasons etc. I love the freedom of solo travel.
I'm new to solo traveling so YES YES YES to all of this. Research is so important; I study my destination for a good 6 mos before my trip. I always book a walking food tour to meet other travelers and to get a good lay out of the area. Solo traveling is the best!
YOUR LAST ADVICE MEANS so much to me …Pushing 50 years old of age you become more and more fearful…. And I hate that. No matter if your a woman or a man . Fear is in your head and the next thing you know that fear might take control over your life… I’m planning my first solo male travel at the age of 50 , and I’m so nervous about it that is producing a lot of anxiety. I really appreciate your good vibe and energy, and that last positive, beautiful advice means the world to me… THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Hiiii!!! Firstly, thank you for watching! Although I’m not 50, I totally understand the idea of becoming more fearful as you get older. There are so many things I did 10 years ago without thinking twice that now I’m like “Hold up, wait a minute.” 😂😂C’mon solo male trip! I love to see it!! Good for you!! Try not to let the fear consume you. You are braver, stronger, and more capable than you know. Remember to use your street smarts, do exhaustive research, and trust your gut! You got this! I guarantee you’ve done harder things. We are here for you! 💪🏾💕
I took the plunge and did my first ever solo travel to Japan for two weeks. I fully agree on social etiquette in a foreign country...respect the culture and the people, and you will get respect back in return. Experienced a lot of bowing in Japan, so whenever someone bowed to me, I bowed back in return. I did notice a few stares on local transports since I am a person of color, mostly from some elderly folk, but this did not bother me one bit...just learn to ignore and not take any offence as I am sure some of these folks have probably never left the country and never interacted with a person of color before. As a solo tourist to Japan, I also chose to register my arrival with the Canadian consulate...you just never know. Also Whatsapp and a good wifi connection are your friend...I always kept my family apprised of my whereabouts every morning before I went solo-sightseeing, including giving them the number of my hotel or Airbnb just in case .
I cannot begin to tell you how much I love and appreciate this comment. You sound like you had an amazing trip! I have been wanting to go to Japan for so long. I will be going soon. Thank you for sharing this! I'm so glad you had a great trip! 💕 Big hugs and safe travels.
Your comment about Trusting Your Gut has ALWAYS served me well. The times I didn’t listen and tried to accommodate friends and family, or cut corners to save a dollar SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENED. Usually something that would inconvenience me or put me in bad space mentally, financially, etc. So, I agree 100%!! I’d rather be Safe and wrong about what could’ve happened than unsafe and right about the feeling I had.
Im a guy but this is still really sound advice. I don't travel ANYWHERE with out doing a crap ton of research beforehand. It was to the point that when I visited NYC for the first time, I knew the subway system better than some locals.
Yes, you are so right about planning the time of arrival. I've learned my lesson. My first solo travel was in November to France and I arrived at night. I've researched the how to ride the train, but because it was nighttime past 9 and drizzling, I got lost. Was really scared. Thank you for mentioning that.
@@se2664 one person was kind enough and who spoke English to give direction but I was walking/circling for almost an hour in the dark and rain. Very scary but lesson learned. Wait at the airport till morning 😊
Omg i’ve been traveling alone domestically since forever but i managed to bite the bullet and book an international flight. I booked this cheap hostel but after a few days I always feel uneasy that’s why I cancelled my booking and proceeded to book a hotel 4 times the price! Yes, i spent waaay more but I can feel the difference on how excited I am for this trip. ❤️
I just took my first solo trip to San Diego and I had a blast. I took all of the tips from this video and I felt very secure. If people asked me if I was by myself, I just told them that I was meeting friends at another hotel. All of my excursions were done during the day. I came back one night in the dark, but it wasn't bad, I had to walk to long blocks from the trolley, but my hotel was on the corner of the 2nd block. I'm looking forward to doing another solo trip soon
Melanie!! I'm so sorry for the late response! I have been thinking about you and your first solo trip! Congrats!! 🎉You did it friend! You should be so proud of yourself! Cheers to more solo adventures! ❤
I was wondering how you navigate the questions when asked who you’re traveling with? I’m a terrible liar and feel bad about not being honest, but 100% understand why it’s almost necessary to do in this situation.
You are SO RIGHT about not posting your location online in real time! I don't ever do that. :) And keeping track of your belongings is very important when traveling too-especially in TSA!
Friends of mine did that. You know what happened? Their house was burgled and insurers refused to pay up because they plastered the fact that they were on vacation on social media. Slam dunk, house emptied, no insurance pay out
Fact is that sooner or later, if you are in a resort, people will know that you are travelling alone. They will see you alone daily and click on within a few days that you are solo travelling. You can't avoid this. This is when you are more likely to be targeted if an unscrupulous person or persons happen to be staying in your resort. Personally I wear a fake engagement and wedding ring. This may persuade some people to think that your partner is out there with you, but maybe he is on business while you relax. It's always best to stack up barriers to being targeted. I know that sounds paranoid, but if you are a young or attractive woman, you just have to be even more aware of your surroundings. There are many upsides to travelling alone; you are not needing to please someone else or make compromises, you just do as you want and when you want. The downsides can be eating alone at night. This is when the stares and comments emerge. Trust me, you will be stared at or commented on sooner or later, this is unavoidable and it's something that you need to prepare for and get hardened to. Male solo travellers probably will be treated with the same curiosity or disdain. For me, travelling to the Caribbean countries alone has always been a pleasure, but I find southern European countries more difficult because their customs are often more conservative, aloof or family-centric. I started traveling alone for my job in the 1990's and it trained me well for later life when I am on vacation alone. Most middle aged women I know would never travel alone and they admit it. They are too embarrassed and/or too scared. Do not be either, embrace life and travel, we are only here once!
Love this! Thank you so much for sharing. I agree with you that we can never be too careful and must take all the necessary precautions. You're right! We only have one life to live...let's live it well. But also be wise. 💕
I recently did my first trip alone and ever since I plan to do more! It's just so cool that you are the only person to decide on plans. Thanks for your video!
I definitely try not to stay in Airbnb's alone or in foreign countries and if I do I book saying there are two people coming. And yes, intuition is everything!
Incredibly good points. I strongly agree on always prioritising your safety despite sometimes not wanting to seem rude for a reason or another. Your safety is way above other peoples emotions. Stay safe ladies
Thank you for these tips. I have traveled alone for business for over 12 years, but now that my children are older, I am sooo looking forward to my first alone leisure trip.
You are so right about keeping track of your belongings! I have traveled with my sister and even then I sat my cell phone down at a store and casino and left it there. Luckily I did not lose it.
great tips! i made mistakes in the past but never again. it’s so true about posting pics in real time w/ the location. the way the locals and travel agencies like your pics and inbox you is insane. i also made the mistake about telling folk i was traveling alone. i was good on all my solo trips because my head was on swivel but never will i do those things again. thanks!
YES!!! I feel like my inbox is so filled with spam that I don't even check it anymore, it's so wild! Yup, we live and we learn. I feel like I'm always learning new things, especially when it comes to safety. Thank you for watching! 💕
This is sooooo helpful! I’m solo traveling this month for the first time in nearly 20 years and I’m kind of freaking out. I’m sure I’ll be fine, but I’m a totally different person than I was back then and I’m doing all the research now. You made some great points here and I’m definitely thankful for that. ❤️
I do have to say, I had one super scary situation. However, I made sure to always be in highly populated areas before dark (which isn’t hard to do in Amsterdam this time of year). Thankfully, I knew what to do and found some really awesome “long lost friends” to help me out. Stay vigilant. Even the safest of places have some outliers. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I felt fully prepared. ❤️
I'm embarrassed to admit that I made the rookie mistake of telling a tour agency my hotel AND room number on my first international trip with one other person 🤦🏾♀️ Thankfully the hotel let me switch rooms and they didn't charge me which was definitely a plus. Please don't be like me!
Hahaha oh we all have our fair share of travel mistakes. I totally get it. I’m glad they let you switch rooms though, that’s great! Thank you for sharing! 💕
I’m getting ready to take a very long road trip so I always appreciate videos like yours that help remind me of what to watch for, even though I grew up in a large city and have a bit of “street smarts” to show for it. And yeah, I’ve watched so many true crime videos where people were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was trying to not be rude, got lost while traveling, ignored their gut instincts, or a myriad of other mistakes while traveling alone and the perpetrators took advantage and did horrible things 😳🥺🫣 So yeah, thank you for sharing this great advice; it can literally save lives! ✌🏼💖🖖🏼
Yes!! 100%%% I used to listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and they are such good reminders and have lots of hidden tips. You can NEVER be too careful! Ever! Thank you for watching! Yes! We've got to have eachother's backs! Much love to you! ❣️❣️
My husband is ALL the way accross the country from me due to military training and I'm flying out to visit him in a couple weeks, but I've never flown before. Let alone flying solo. I'm a little nervous but really excited and this helped a lot!
Hi Grace! Yes, it can be nerve wracking but you’ve got this! I hope you have a good trip and get some time with your husband! Be safe and take it one step at a time! ❤️❤️
I’m planning a trip with my kids to the coast. I’m the only driver. I’ve been binge watching all these types of videos and you give some fantastic ideas. One thing that I found important is to check reviews of the places you’re considering to book. I have probably booked and canceled 10-12 places based on reviews and just having a bad feeling. Last thing I need is to get to a hotel just to find out they canceled my room or it’s not available.
Hi!! Yes, yes, yes! Thank you for this! Readying all the review last is so important and can save money and stress. I have decided not to book certain places because the reviews were bad and vice versa. Such a great one! Have a great trip with your kids! Safe travels! 💕
I'm on my second solo trip in June 2024 abroad and looking forward to it, the first one was scary but once I got to my destination I enjoyed my own company, felt empowering as a woman. June will be my next one and I can't wait. Go for it, have basic commo sense you'll be fine.
I'm going on a two month solo trip soon and I'm so excited but also quite nervous. I've never been on a solo trip, let alone a two month one. This is combined with an internship though, so I will have people there that can help me, but its still a little bit scary 😅
This was so informative and I feel so empowered and excited! I've always been scared of solo travel, but really wanted to try. It's always been a safety thing, so I feel like this will help a lot. ^_^ Thank you sis!
Agree with every single one of these! I’m getting back in to solo travelling after about 5/6 years. I always land in the morning / midday, keep my wits about me, stay at a hotel, get cabs or taxis instead of public transport, plan ahead, not oversharing etc. It’s sooo important to feel safe!
Everyone keeps saying don’t tell anyone you’re traveling alone, which is a safe choice but nobody ever says what they say when asked. Do you just say “No” and change the subject or do you say your husband is in the room? Why or why not? 🤷🏽♀️
This is such a great comment! For me, it depends on the situation. Sometimes I try to feel out their motive for asking and go from there. I will lie if I have to and say I’m traveling with friends or my family is with me or something like that. Or I’ll even flip it back on them, again depending on the situation. Sometimes I’ve met other solo travelers like in a hostel or Airbnb and then the jig is up, but it’s okay because we both end up exploring whatever city together. But I still don’t let my guard down either way. I hope this makes sense. Maybe I should make a video about this. I really think this needs to be talked about more. 💕
Thank you so much for this! I considered booking an Airbnb too, but I have heard too many horror stories about Airbnb's lately. A hotel gave me peace of mind.
I’ve only solo traveled around America and the carryover is so similar!! I’m super excited to really explore the world love the vid thanks for the tips! Also as a side note: I’ve on multiple times have found myself in some SKETCH situations, but as a man I’ve honestly never felt unsafe; even one time in florida walking down what seemed like a homeless hostel of a street at 2am without a hotel 😅that night was interesting to say the least. Crazy the difference in treatment a man gets over a women.
Love this! ❤ I naturally do this because I grew up in a rough neighborhood but I would imagine this being very helpful for a lot of people who have never experienced crime firsthand!
This is gold sister. I wont say much because I just saw the video and now I am a bit paranoid XD but all that you are saying is so useful, thanks so much xxx
I have a solo trip booked next week and I’m beyond ANXIOUS, its to Jamaica where I have tons of fam & friends but haven’t told a soul.. staying in all inclusive but am still a bit weary because even hotel workers could probably figure out after a few days I’m alone without even speaking to me. Im still going and super excited but will def have my guard up on full alert!!! (I made sure the rooms have a manual lock inside the room and purchased a door device from amazon 🙈) unfortunately it was more $ to say 2 people were staying so that may be why I’m a little psyched. Im sure all will be well 🙌🏽
Omg, I'm planning my 1st solo birthday trip this summer to Jamaica and even though I'm from there, I just want to use this time as a wellness trip. I'm super excited to do this for myself.
Thank you so much. I've done a couple of solo trips in the U.S. and have done really well with research. But you have made me think about some things internationally. I will probably try an English speaking country first and know that I'm in a safe hotel. I appreciate your knowledge. I will want to leave and arrive during the daytime.
i'm planning a solo trip to barcelona in the summer and honestly, im a bit scared of pickpockets and scams but i don't want this fear to get in the way of my trip. :( thank you for this video ❤
This video is SO helpful!! I'm taking my first international solo vacation next month. When meeting people on tours etc., what do you say when they ask 'who are you traveling with?' or 'are you alone'?
Hi Morgan! Yay for you!! So exciting! 🎉I’m going to make a separate video on this. So much of it relies on context and who is actually asking. Sometimes I just straight up lie. But all depends. 💕
This is a great point! Sometimes, depending on the occupancy fees, I’ll put 2 people instead of 1. Hotels, I feel fine just putting one but with an Airbnb, I’ll sometimes put 2.
You advised not to tell people when you are traveling solo. In the past, I slipped and told a few people when I was traveling alone. Thank God no harm came to me. In your video, I was waiting to hear examples of what you would say when asked. I could see it being easier to make something up if you’re not likely to see the person again during your trip. In situations like an all inclusive resort, it could be harder to pretend your not alone if you cross paths with the same people at the facility.
Yes, I’ve done the same. It all depends on the context. I’m going to make a separate video about what you can say instead. Yes, sometimes it’s hard to avoid making anything up because it’s obvious that you are alone. But sometimes I do make things up.
Hey this was sooo helpful wow! The first thing about your laptop helped me . I tend to carry a lot at once and for me I know I need to pack evrything away before walking around. This will also keep me off my phone and alert! Next the arrival and departure! Wow didn’t even think of thattttttt I really wanted to leave Catalina Island at night in order to have a full last day but you are right! Danger waits at night! I’ll def make sure I’m gone by afternoon and back home by night! I am extremely grateful for this video ! Another thing is the Airbnb when you talked about it I thought about the fact that at a hotel there’s lots of other people . If you need help you can find it! But an Airbnb is just you alone at a house. Could be harder to get help! Thanks for this
Hi Zoe!! Yessss! That day, my stomach dropped. My laptop had my whole life on it at the time! 😩😬Yessss, sometimes it’s unavoidable to arrive/leave at night but if you can help it all, try not to. 💯on the Airbnb. Sometimes it’s just safer to stay in a hotel and if you need help, you can always call them. These days, I only stay at Airbnbs unless I really know the city well or I’m getting a good deal and have a good feeling about it. Safe travels to you! I’m glad this video could help! ❤️💕
been solo traveling for atleast 6-7 years. here is my best tips 1 plan your budget , if i pay with cash you can budget the money for each day you are away. exchange money before the trip 2 bring a pen and pencil so you can write down activites/locations you want to visit and try to plan which day you are going to visit them 3 if u can book sightseeing from the hotel, they know which companys that i serious and not a scam 4 dont get drunk if u are not near your hotell ( well dont get to drunk no matter what) 5 have a time when you are going back to the hotel. if u are alone dont walk around at 2 at night 6 ask service personal in the first place for diraction and stuff people can try to trick you 7 be skeptical if someone offer you to join for a party or give you a drink ( a common scam in some countries is that nice looking girls ask guys to join them and then they need to pay a huge tab) 8 you can meet people at sightseeing groups of u are feeling lonely 9 know what the topping system is in the country you are going to 10 book a taxi from the hotel or use the "redbusses" so you dont get scamed 11 buy water bottles at the airport when u arrive if u come late maybe stores are closed or far away in the night 12 spend the money on a hotel room. its safer and way more nice to have your own room and have your own bathroom 13 always look for landmarks. near your hotel or if u are at a sightseeing tour. take a pic if needed. like a pic on the license plate on the tourbus or something that standsout so you are not getting lost so easily
Just subscribed, your content is so helpful! I've been solo travelling for 3 years, thought I knew a lot but your videos are showing me that there's still more for me to learn 😂
I'm planning my 1st solo two week driving vacation. I've done my research and have cabin and hotel booked. However, I'm so nervous that it's clouding any exciting feelings. How do others handle the mix emotions?
Hi Ann! That’s so exciting! I know the feeling. Especially since it’s your first time doing it. It’s only normal to feel nervous. Try not to let it get to you too much. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Unless you feel unsure about something where it feels more like a sign not to go. But if you’ve done the research and have the appropriate tools that can help keep you safe, you should be okay. Remember to pay attention to your surroundings and stay vigilant. You’ve got this! 💪🏾Please let me know how it goes! Happy travels!! 💕
This video was so helpful, a lot of the stuff on the list I knew what to do and not to do, but your energy just made me so much more confident to do a solo trip so thank you so much
Aww thank you! I know what you mean. A lot of these things ppl know but it's articulating it and having that confirmation and reinforcement. Safe travels to you! 💕
I woke up near Barcelona at a friend's house. He offered me a ride to the airport but I thought I was so cool and smart, I turned him down and went alone, making one after another stupid decision all morning. End result: I missed my flight. My super-great online travel agent helped me get another flight at 6 the next morning, through Istanbul. I knew that if I went anywhere to sleep, I'd miss that next flight, because how do you get to the airport at 3 am for a 6 am flight in a foreign city when the only words you know have to do with food??? So I spent the night in the Prat airport, not sleeping. Then I didn't sleep all the way to Istanbul, a few hours layover, a long sleepless flight home with crying babies, and a 2 hour drive home. The moral: say yes.
I've traveled solo multiple times. I'm going to London, and then back to Edinburgh in a month. I'm off to Cozumel over my break five weeks after that. I've traveled solo to Israel, Senegal, Kenya/Tanzania on a safari, Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights, Yellowknife, to see the Auroras there too, Montreal, Las Vegas, plenty of places in Europe, Ecuador, Cancun area, Malta, Costa Rica, along with multiple trips here in the US to solo backpack or camp. I've even done solo canoe trips. I've been to other places too. I've had young women latch onto me on these trips as well. They were solo travelers as well. I think that they deemed me as safe. I am I suppose. I am 6'3", 250 lbs and an Army Veteran, who has spent time in a war zone. They loved that no men were bugging them when they would be with me. Even when I've backpacked solo, young gals have asked if they could camp near me.
Hi Miles! WOW!! Amazing! You are living travel goals, I love it so much! Thank you so much for watching over women throughout your travels. This means so much more than you may ever know. You are a gem. Safe travels to you! ❣️
Thanks for watching! I recommend looking at that particular county’s tourism website, reading blog posts around that country, watching YT videos, and reading forums like those of Reddit. Hope this helps! Safe travels to you! 💕
Funny note on keeping track of your stuff. I was disembarking on a domestic flight recently and saw some ladies corralling their kids and a small dog. One lady was telling their little girl "make sure you are holding your tablet, dont lose it" as she was walking away from her own tablet and phone in the seat back pocket. I yell hold on and scrambled to grab it for them before they kept scurrying away. We all had a good laugh about the irony
Unfortunately most of the cheapest flights, buses and so on are night ones. And in some countries the public transport has very unpredictable timing. You may arrive too late, too early and whatnot. Blending in...well in some countries you can do that. But in some others, no.
2:30 I LOL’D so hard bc the first time I traveled in years to Seattle, I literally left my laptop during the TSA check and pretty much walked off before the TSA guy lifted it into the air and asked if it belonged to someone. Of course, I turn around thinking it’s someone else’s problem, and it was mine 😂, it was my problem 😭 my dad laughed at me and said “you can never travel alone”… but yes, so easy to loose belongs when you travel. Pack light and triple check!!!
😂😂😂 "It was mine, it was my problem." Such true words. hahaha I almost did it again the other day. I was like "Are you serious?!" I can't have my things scattered or else I WILL FORGET IT! 😂
I posted videos in real time when I travelled to Seychelles but I understand why it’s not a good idea. It’s obvious to keep track of your stuff regardless of where you are and whatever you’re doing. That’s a life too not just for solo travellers.
Nice video. I like to stay at hostels to save money. Some hostels even have private rooms and a fraction of the cost of a hotel. Dorm rooms and the common rooms give you an opportunity to meet fellow travelers and hear about their experiences. I've learned some great hacks doing this.
i really want to travel on my own to visit more countries. but still i am hooing fot a travel buddy because thinking about traveling solo also makes me a little scared
Hii!! That’s a really good question. It all depends. Sometimes I look if there’s a single occupancy fee or if it is more expensive to book with 2 ppl or not. If it’s not, I’ll book for 2. Other times, if I am pretty secure in the area being safe and good, I’ll just book for one. It also depends on the kind of hotel as well. Fantastic question! 💕Hope this helps!
That’s a good idea! I certainly can. In the meantime, I usually go with the things that I love that bring me joy like food, tours, museums, thrift stores, and outdoor walks and parks.
Do it, Book a nice hotel and plan your itinerary and you'll be fine. Be careful at night though and stay in busy areas. I went to NYC alone a few years ago. I really enjoyed it
I've been researching accommodation for my London trip. I also noticed that the hotels are kinda pricey and the cheaper ones are a bit far from city center. The hostels are cheap but I don't like the idea of staying with strangers. I also don't like the idea of using a shared bathroom even as a guy. How was the public transit in London? I used transit in Toronto last year and felt that it was OK but I lost a lot of hours waiting for late buses. I used transit for longer distances and then walk as long as I could before using an uber if necessary.
I stayed outside of the tourist area in London. If you don’t mind using the tube there are some really nice hotels. I just stayed closer to the airport- more of a business area. But very nice and manageable.
Hi there! Sorry for my late response. In my opinion, London has one of the best public metro systems in Western Europe. If you've ever been to NYC and used the subway, The Tube is 100X better, again, IMO. The issue is, the city is so dang big and expensive that it kind of gives you no choice. I would take the Tube over an Uber due to traffic, etc. Have you considered hostels with single rooms? Those can be great sometimes too. 💕
Londoner here, definitely stay outside the centre you'll get a nicer experience, you'll immerse yourself in London more. Our London tube networks is so easy and gets you anywhere very quickly, very fast and reliable. Yeah I get you on the hostel thing, sharing a bathroom room with others is not nice.
I lost a small change purse that had about $150 in small bills I was going to use for tip money. Don't know if it was stolen out of my purse or it just fell out and I didn't notice. So that kinda sucked.
Aww man! I'm so sorry to hear that Shelly!! The same has happened to me. I lost a pouch with about $150 USD one time too. And since then, I always try to split up my cash. 💕
I lost my box of goodies at Heathrow airport to. Good tips. Be careful of a rooms that have a hidden camera .don't give any private information to a taxi driver , shop keeper ,waiter.
I love traveling alone and PREFER it. I want to move organically through a place and be able to experience the people, the culture, and all the sensory things unique to an area. Having other people with me is distracting. I also don't want everything to have to be aa democratic discussion over how long we stay somewhere, what we do, whether we accept an invitation from a local or check out something we spot while there, etc. I want to be fully free to guide my experience according to my travel preferences. The only way I'd enjoy having someone with me more than being myself is if their travel style is exactly like mine. The only thing that sucks is that being female makes certain parts of the world that I really want to experience off-limits to me because of safety. Otherwise I'd love to see Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, and N. Africa.
Yes! I totally understand this. There’s a lot of compromise involved in group travel. Yes, it is amazing to travel with someone who has the same travel style as you. I have a couple of friends like this and it just makes the experience that much better. I totally agree with you. There are a few places on my list that I haven’t traveled to yet solely because I’m a woman and for safety reasons don’t want to go there alone. Thank you for sharing!! 💕
I’m just going to London alone for 4 days and I’ve already been there, don’t think this video is for me lmao, absolutely saving this info for the future tho
Hi Tateeaunna!! Yes! Sometimes I do. It all depends on the trip. But if I’m traveling by myself sometimes I’ll do excisions and tours and things like that to get out and experience it and also meet some people. Hope this helps! 💕
Did any of these solo travel mistakes surprise you? Got any words of advice for new solo female travelers? 💕

I'm 18 I have a question for you is there any way that they could let me get my own identification to travel alone at the airport to get a passport
Great! How was your trip otherwise?
Wow! Had the same experience! God is truly the GREATEST!
always follow intuition 🫶
@@swisdom9117 my trip was cut short but it was beautiful. I went to Miami. it’s like I could almost physically feel God protecting me everywhere I went during the short time that I was there. Thanks for asking 😇
Biggest mistake I made was bringing my friend with me twice. We both wanted to do different things. I couldnt do what I wanted when i wanted. Never again.
Hi Gary! Ugh, yup! I’ve had to learn that the hard way. Some friends you just can’t travel with for various reasons. 😩
Omg your comment has confirmed it! I am not going with this particular friend! She’s so rude
I hear you! I'm never going on a trip with my cousin again after putting up with her antics in Thailand
Check, check, check to all of these tips! So good! Thank you for sharing!! 💕
I'm new to solo traveling so YES YES YES to all of this. Research is so important; I study my destination for a good 6 mos before my trip. I always book a walking food tour to meet other travelers and to get a good lay out of the area. Solo traveling is the best!
Yes!! Love this! Research can make such a big difference. And yes to walking food tours! I love those too! Thanks for sharing! 💕
I really appreciate your good vibe and energy, and that last positive, beautiful advice means the world to me…
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Just saw this comment and hope you had the best time!
These are great tips! Thank you for sharing!
Yessss!!! This! I love this so much! I agree!! 💕
Im a guy but this is still really sound advice. I don't travel ANYWHERE with out doing a crap ton of research beforehand. It was to the point that when I visited NYC for the first time, I knew the subway system better than some locals.
Yes!!! Love it! Thank you so much for watching and sharing! 💕
Perfect
Yes, you are so right about planning the time of arrival. I've learned my lesson. My first solo travel was in November to France and I arrived at night. I've researched the how to ride the train, but because it was nighttime past 9 and drizzling, I got lost. Was really scared. Thank you for mentioning that.
Hiiiii!!! Ugh yes! I’m glad you got to where you were going though. I’ve def had my moments of getting lost, solo. It is scary! 😬💕
I hope you knew French to ask locals for help
@@se2664 one person was kind enough and who spoke English to give direction but I was walking/circling for almost an hour in the dark and rain. Very scary but lesson learned. Wait at the airport till morning 😊
Had an accidental solo trip to Miami last summer and I want to travel solo so much more, thank you for the tips!
Hahaha love that Christina! I’ve had a few of those myself. Love that you accident stumbled into it! I hope you have many more! 💕

Doing my first solo trip for my 30th birthday and I couldn’t be more excited!
YAY!! So fun!! When is your birthday if you don't mind me asking?
It’s on the 18th ☺️
I did my first solo trip to somewhere new to San Diego. I fell in love! Got to go to several other cities, too.
I was wondering how you navigate the questions when asked who you’re traveling with? I’m a terrible liar and feel bad about not being honest, but 100% understand why it’s almost necessary to do in this situation.
I'm thinking of going to San Diego any recommendations?
You are SO RIGHT about not posting your location online in real time! I don't ever do that. :) And keeping track of your belongings is very important when traveling too-especially in TSA!
Friends of mine did that. You know what happened? Their house was burgled and insurers refused to pay up because they plastered the fact that they were on vacation on social media. Slam dunk, house emptied, no insurance pay out
Absolutely!
Oh no!! WOW! I'm so sorry to hear that. You can never be too careful!
Yes!! That’s the best part! So happy for you! 🎉Thank you for watching. Safe travels.💕
I definitely try not to stay in Airbnb's alone or in foreign countries and if I do I book saying there are two people coming. And yes, intuition is everything!
Thank you Natashea! 💕
Incredibly good points. I strongly agree on always prioritising your safety despite sometimes not wanting to seem rude for a reason or another. Your safety is way above other peoples emotions. Stay safe ladies
💯!! Safety is always #1! 💕
Thank you for these tips. I have traveled alone for business for over 12 years, but now that my children are older, I am sooo looking forward to my first alone leisure trip.
Hi Danielle!! Yesss!! Now it’s your time to enjoy a leisurely trip. Have so much fun! ❤️
You are so right about keeping track of your belongings! I have traveled with my sister and even then I sat my cell phone down at a store and casino and left it there. Luckily I did not lose it.
Yes!! Ugh, yes! It's the worst when that happens. I'm so glad you didn't lose your stuff either! 💕
great tips! i made mistakes in the past but never again. it’s so true about posting
pics in real time w/ the location. the way the locals and travel agencies like your pics and inbox you is insane. i also made the mistake about telling folk i was traveling alone. i was good on all
my solo trips because my head was on swivel but never will i do those things again. thanks!
Aww!! Yes!!! You've got this! It's like riding a bike! I hope you have an awesome trip! Trust your gut! Lots of love! 💕

And yeah, I’ve watched so many true crime videos where people were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was trying to not be rude, got lost while traveling, ignored their gut instincts, or a myriad of other mistakes while traveling alone and the perpetrators took advantage and did horrible things 😳🥺🫣
So yeah, thank you for sharing this great advice; it can literally save lives!

Hi Grace! Yes, it can be nerve wracking but you’ve got this! I hope you have a good trip and get some time with your husband! Be safe and take it one step at a time! ❤️❤️
Hiya! How was your flight? My partner is also in the military so I’ll be flying to Cyprus. I’ve flown once in my life so I’m so terrified 😅x

Yes!! I love this! Our safety always comes first! Thank you for sharing. 💕Safe travels!
I enjoy the planning as much as the trip!
Me too!! I actually love trip planning! 💕
Hopefully this helps!! ❣ ua-cam.com/video/2oICsvV6S2c/v-deo.html

Spot on advice! Ice also been solo travelling for a few years now maybe 6/7 and this is great advice.
Thank you for watching! 🥰❤️
The scripture you quoted about not being alone is so true but you gotta use your head also.
Absolutely!!

Thank YOU for watching!! 💕
I’ve really enjoyed this video. What about office people that did your booking, they know you are travelling alone!

Great tips I was planning a trip had late flight but was meeting a friend changed to earlier flight due to her plans changing
Thank you for watching!! Safe travels to you! 😘💕
been solo traveling for atleast 6-7 years. here is my best tips
1 plan your budget , if i pay with cash you can budget the money for each day you are away. exchange money before the trip
2 bring a pen and pencil so you can write down activites/locations you want to visit and try to plan which day you are going to visit them
3 if u can book sightseeing from the hotel, they know which companys that i serious and not a scam
4 dont get drunk if u are not near your hotell ( well dont get to drunk no matter what)
5 have a time when you are going back to the hotel. if u are alone dont walk around at 2 at night
6 ask service personal in the first place for diraction and stuff people can try to trick you
7 be skeptical if someone offer you to join for a party or give you a drink ( a common scam in some countries is that nice looking girls ask guys to join them and then they need to pay a huge tab)
8 you can meet people at sightseeing groups of u are feeling lonely
9 know what the topping system is in the country you are going to
10 book a taxi from the hotel or use the "redbusses" so you dont get scamed
11 buy water bottles at the airport when u arrive if u come late maybe stores are closed or far away in the night
12 spend the money on a hotel room. its safer and way more nice to have your own room
and have your own bathroom
13 always look for landmarks. near your hotel or if u are at a sightseeing tour. take a pic if needed. like a pic on the license plate on the tourbus or something that standsout so you are not getting lost so easily
Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing! 💕
Just subscribed, your content is so helpful! I've been solo travelling for 3 years, thought I knew a lot but your videos are showing me that there's still more for me to learn 😂
Hi Rachel! Aww thank you! 🥰Welcome!! 🎉💕

Aww no!!! Thank your for sharing this! Right?! Sometimes we just have to accept the help and say yes. I'm glad you finally got home safely though. 💕
Such an informative video! Thank you for sharing your 10 years of travelling with us! 😊💖
Thank you so much for watching!! ❣️❣️🥰Cutie cat also!! 😻
Good advice
Thank you for watching! 💕
Great info! What website do you recommend research when traveling intentionally?
Thanks for watching! I recommend looking at that particular county’s tourism website, reading blog posts around that country, watching YT videos, and reading forums like those of Reddit. Hope this helps! Safe travels to you! 💕
Thanks so,so much for this information 😊
Thank you for watching!
We all had a good laugh about the irony
hahahaha Aww!! You're so sweet to catch that for her. Yes! That's a lot of people and things to keep track of. 😂😂 💕
Luv this!
Thank you for watching! 💕
Unfortunately most of the cheapest flights, buses and so on are night ones. And in some countries the public transport has very unpredictable timing. You may arrive too late, too early and whatnot.
Blending in...well in some countries you can do that. But in some others, no.
Yes, it all depends on the destination. This is more general advice. 💕
Oh😮I'll be arriving in dubai at night, i plan to get a uber directly to my hotel
Yes! Do that! Sometimes it's hard to avoid. Be safe!! 💕
Hi Marian! 100%! I'm always doing the "phone, keys, wallet" check every time I go out. 😂😂
Great video and tips! What are some responses you have if someone asks who you are traveling with?
Ha! I just saw you posted a video for responses about this! ❤
hahaha yes!!! Thank you for watching!! ❣️
Nice video. I like to stay at hostels to save money. Some hostels even have private rooms and a fraction of the cost of a hotel. Dorm rooms and the common rooms give you an opportunity to meet fellow travelers and hear about their experiences. I've learned some great hacks doing this.
Yes! Some hotels can be nice, especially the ones with private rooms. Thank you for sharing! 💕
Great advice
Thank you! And thank you for watching! 💕
i really want to travel on my own to visit more countries. but still i am hooing fot a travel buddy because thinking about traveling solo also makes me a little scared
Hi!! I totally get that. It’s also a different vibe if you’re solo vs. with someone else or a group. Take your time! 💕
Hey @KrodCollective When travelling solo for when you are booking hotel do you book book a room for two or one?
@@KRodCollective thank you so much
Can you please talk about what you do for fun during your solo trips
That’s a good idea! I certainly can. In the meantime, I usually go with the things that I love that bring me joy like food, tours, museums, thrift stores, and outdoor walks and parks.
I’m trying to plan a trip to New York. only for two days, but I’m simultaneously terrified to go through with it.
Do it, Book a nice hotel and plan your itinerary and you'll be fine. Be careful at night though and stay in busy areas. I went to NYC alone a few years ago. I really enjoyed it
You got this! Did you do it? If so, how did it go?
Yes!! Love this! 💕
@@KRodCollective Hello yes! I went and it was very fun 🤩 although, I do admit it was a bit lonely but still overall worth it!
Love your channel ❤🎉
Thank you! 🥰Thank you for watching! 💕
Good information
Thank you!! Thanks for watching! 💕
Agreed! I usually stay in Southeast or East London. Super easy to take the Tube and lots of places to explore in those areas.
@@pancakesandtea Thank you for this great insight!! 💕
Yesssss!!! All of this! Thank you for the great tips! 💕
Can you suggests a country that is safe for first time solo travelling? I’m planning to solo travel in Switzerland and I’m a guy
Japan. Very safe even at night.
Thank you.
Thank you for watching! 💕
I am curious. Have you done trips to Pigeon Forge alone?
I have not!
I'm a female traveler and i do all these things even when I'm with my husband. Because I'm very just overly cautious. These are very good tips
I love it! Better to be safe! 💕 Thanks for watching!
Handy advices! Greetings from Amsterdam🇳🇱. I’m actually a local motor tour guide for (solo) travelers, for a new sightseeing experience🏍️📸
Hi there! Oh! I love this! I’ll have to check this out the next time I’m in Amsterdam. Thanks for sharing! 💕
@@KRodCollective thank you for checking! Added you on IG 💫
I’m just going to London alone for 4 days and I’ve already been there, don’t think this video is for me lmao, absolutely saving this info for the future tho
Hahaha Yes! Save away! Safe travels to you! 💕
I will look up the common scams in Cabo San Lucas . I’m going there in July with my sisters but still I need to know what I’m getting into
Yes! Absolutely! I hope you have a fun and safe trip! 💕
Hi, I have a question. Whenever you travel internationally do you go and do excursions?
Hi Tateeaunna!! Yes! Sometimes I do. It all depends on the trip. But if I’m traveling by myself sometimes I’ll do excisions and tours and things like that to get out and experience it and also meet some people. Hope this helps! 💕
I’m new here. Places to stay in algarve, Lisbon, Porto?!!
Welcome! Oof, I’ve only stayed at Airbnbs in Porto! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Have a safe trip! 💕
