My native village in South India also has a large number of snakes, the majority of them are cobras. We have a temple of the snake God and it is considered a great sin to kill a snake. One is sure to come across a cobra or two, especially in the fields.
Yet, we have no record of any case of snake bite in living memory.

Fascinating! It is a perfect balance. ‘Respect’ takes on a proper meaning. It’s almost as though some of the snakes seemingly disregard the fishermen; they’re not food, so just keep an eye for surprises, yes? No reports of bites - no surprises. So, where do the fishermen sleep to keep away from the spirits as they hunt, because some rodents must be around inside the huts? Or this doesn’t happen, maybe. Thank you for your nice video, the gray headed species is pretty with such distinct markings. Feathers are fascinating, same as scale patterns are. I know you guys really enjoyed this foray!

Remote outback Australia is very similar.
Snakes do not perceive humans as a thread per se, and are quite relaxed around the very few humans they encounter.
Snakes are quite inquisitive, so one might find a snake investigating even ones limbs, body, or just looking in a cold night for some body heath...in ones bed or sleeping bag.....😉😊😊
The trick is not to panic....you won't get bitten if you remain motionless and keep your nerves.
Snakes are not aggressive, they rather get away than bite!
But rapid movements will alert them and triggers their defensive instincts, even multiply bites are then not uncommon, depending on the specie.
    Ergo
Snakes are not out to bite you!
In Australia, 90% of snake bite victims are stupid idiots , that either tried to kill a snake, remove it from their property without proper training....or are drunks that thought to impress whoever was watching!
Respect snakes, keep your distance, and count yourself lucky if you encounter one of this great creatures.
A few little known facts about Australian deathly wildlife:
Deaths per year, on average for the past 20 years, due to,
    Snake bite....1-3
    Shark attacks....2-3
Marine life, such as sea snakes, deathly fish and in particular the very deathly jelly fish in the tropics.....1-3
    Crocodile attacks...1-3
    Spider and scorpions....zero!
    Well,
There you have it,....Australia might have some of the deathliest wildlife in the world, but in reality it is one of the safest countries on earth!
But, what native animal kills more people than all the rest combined, hundreds every year?
    The cute Kangaroo !!!
    How?
It is the cause of numerous, often fatal car accidents all over Australia.
Well, I've written enough....dinner is ready.
If anyone likes to know why that is....let me know and I will explain.
    Cheers
    from tropical Cairns

I would live here, I have two cobras so I don’t mind snakes.

But you know where your snakes are and how many there are. I don’t have an unnatural fear of these snakes but, the reality of you stepping on one or one crawling in your bed, toilet, couch etc over the years I would think is almost an eventuality in that close proximity. Am I wrong? (I don’t keep snakes). I don’t believe for one second that there hasn’t been a fatality from one of those cobras. They don’t report them because they revere the animal. I don’t blame them, or the cobras. I’d sure as hell bite anyone that stepped on me

@LEILA NABZ I think we did not have service there with our local card. But of course, maybe it works for local people :)

@@LivingZoology exactly. My point is a married man can live peacefully with snakes rather than wife 😂😂😂

When a society is always tied to some religious crap, things get interesting
