Buquets is one of the most underated players of this era. Was very important in the dominant barca days. Possibly the best passer in the world at his high. A twat tho...
The best analysis I heard by a Dutch pundit: "When you see Frenkie play, you half expect his mother to call him in because dinner is ready... He plays as carefree on a CL level as he did on the streets as a 10 year old"
This “carefree” playing style is admirable and may seem pleasant to watch however it is also very risky and dangerous as it almost costed them a goal when he got caught up holding the ball, deep in his own half (5:55). Had Benzema connected with Modric’s pass, it could’ve costed them the game.
Afnan Malik Afnan Malik See the thing is, why would you want to concede in the first place when your players are already scoring?(Referring to when he starts the season with Barcelona. I’m speaking hypothetically) Rakitic playing it safe is the best thing one could ask for, especially when you already have one of the best attackers in the world of whose name I don’t even have to mention. It may seem frustrating but it is a blessing in disguise. When effective attackers/forwards are playing, all they need is a very stable midfielder who can properly hold the ball in the middle by acting as a pivot point. Sure, sometimes situations require midfielders to drive forward with the ball but not always which is what FDJ tries to do most of the time and it gets pretty obvious at times, and not to mention unnecessary. Recall how effective the xavi, iniesta and Messi era was? Xavi held his ground and was very stable playing quick one two passes, Busquets would lay the ball off to Messi in such a way that it would be easier for him to dribble and drive forward. Iniesta, well he was basically like Zidane and Xavi mixed together. The point is, midfielders strive to make the jobs of attackers easier, not do their work all the time. Again, I emphasise that sometimes situations require them to do it by driving forward when there’s space. But if there isn’t and if you force into a crowd, you’ll heavily risk losing the ball.
I don't know but I feel something strong with this player. So much class and unique touch and positioning. He plays like a sweeper, defensive midfielder, number 10 all combined. I never saw Frenkie De Jong play a full game; but from the clips and the praise, WOW!! It seems like he defends like Van Dijk, retains possession like Pirlo and brings the ball forward like Iniesta. If you had told me it was 3 different players in this video, I might believe you. I really don't think anyone is playing like FDJ at the moment; and if he is 22 and going to the facilities/players of Barcelona I think he will be a world beater. Really wished LFC had the money and the pull to get this player, he would cancel out the need for Lallana, Henderson and Milner in one transfer window. Damn, Barcelona did it again!!
