OH MY GOSH! I just have to say "Thank you so much" ladies! As I'm here taking out some old braids and prepping to do a headshot (and asking myself if I should get a headband wig for it as an actress/musician who does more edgy looks for my music performances).... this video comforted me and made me feel less alone in the process. I've had so many similar experiences as the ones shared here. Thank you deeply for this video. I laughed with y'all, got some good advice/ideas, and related. Saving it.
I absolutely LOVE this video! I've heard you briefly talk about how black actresses don't have the same experiences on set. But, this conversation is really beautiful to listen to. Hearing you guys share stories in a really honest and personal way - stories that you can look back and laugh at, while still bringing attention to the fact this is unacceptable, is really amazing. I can't even imagine the impact it would have on your self-esteem to know you have to advocate for yourself and try not to seem like you have a "bad attitude." ESPECIALLY when some of you started acting at such a young age! This video was really eye-opening. I love learning about the behind-the-scenes of how film & television are made. But, I've never stopped to consider this part of the experience. Thank you for making these conversations and these stories so accessible. No one wants to accept that they let race influence the way they see the world, but hearing these stories of make-up artists who sent black actresses to CVS with $50, black actresses who HAVE to bring their own products. It really makes me reflect on ways I've casually breezed through certain experiences and never considered how I was actively making it harder for others, even if I never intended too. I'm a huge Degrassi fan. But following all the work you've done outside of Hazel is incredible. You have a way of taking really hard conversations and making them casual. And, your entire brand is very positive and empowering. I admire that about you and I'm so eager to see your next video :)!
This was a great conversation and perfect timing! Needed this community of the highs and lows of beauty as a black actress. Welcome back! Congrats on getting married!!
as a curve model, whenever i walk onto a set where i’m the only person who is big, i feel that “oh you don’t know i’m pretty” feeling. and the styling is where i usually end up getting anxious. but like the expense of HMU not understanding black hair and makeup is just ridiculous, it’s been too long. they make it so hard to be a good artist, especially as a woman, especially as a black woman. i love this convo. y’all are soooo stunning!

Welcome back Andrea !!! Thank you for always bringing your personal touch on UA-cam. Love you 💕
Glad to have you back! Literally I come to set hair and makeup set. I ask in advance what the vision is and show up. I had came on set for a commercial and the makeup artist took off my makeup and I had a reaction. My entire face itched and was swollen. I had to be on set for an entirely different gig, a show, the next morning. I came looking so damn good and no one knew. When I got home I had to ice my face. This was 2020 and since then and before, if it ain’t me you can’t touch me lol.
Welcome back!!!! Congratulations on getting married.
Thank you ❤️❤️
Loved this...looking forward to the next

Damn! I’m sorry 😞 but you’re a beauty queen so I’m sure you’ll always do a better job than everyone else
Thanks for this conversation so relatable and felt like I was with my girls. Really needed this after a hard day!
Yaaaaay!
❤️❤️❤️
Long time no see 🙋🙋
I wish you would have introduced these woman, put their names somewhere!
Hey! From 1:00-1:05 you’ll see their names written in the lower third
That’s disappointing, Joy was on This is Us. I was hoping they would have had the right people in place to do black hair.
The experiences she’s sharing is from her other work, not necessarily This Is Us
Just here to say how pretty and ageless you are. 🥹💖
