    Cap'n Steve, my MJX X103W arrived today. To say I'm impressed with this amazing drone is a huge understatement! Build quality is first class, ease of set up and use, great camera quality and rock steady GPS hold and return to home. At JUST under 250g, this HAS to be the best and perfect first time drone for beginners / intermediate flyers (even experienced flyers will enjoy this great product). 5***** + rating from me - thanks Cap'n for bringing this amazing low cost drone to my attention 👍👍😁😁 (ps. it's better than the MJX 104G model - and has the advantage of the tilting camera feature and the great tiny controller)

      Just about all MJX (Bugs series) are way under-priced. Their performance and reliability is quite remarkable. There are so many cheap drones out there and its a real treat to find one that really performs beyond your expectations. Hope MJX stays in the business!

    Hello, I just purchased this little drone and was able to apply the discount on you site, thank you Captain Drone for the review.
    As a rank drone beginner it seems like a good fit, at sub 250 grams I don't have to register it with the FAA and I know it's going to be fun to fly.
    At $95 delivered I can live with its limitations and wont lose my sanity if it flys off into the sunset or sinks beneath the waves into a watery drone grave.

    Very impressive Capt'n. I've handled several MJX brand quads in the past and found them quite amazing and reliable. Charge and fly - no surprises - the GPS is GLONAS and very accurate. Top end of the toy grade. I'm a little surprised they used brush motors on this but I half expect an intermediate to this before long! Great job!

    Cap'n - I ordered one of these on your recommendation to compare it with my recent purchase of the 'so far' excellent MJX 104G - (same App is an advantage) nice thing about owning these lower cost brushed MJX Drones is the lack of stress if you lose or destroy them whilst having lots of fun!! - Worst case scenario is 'beans on toast' for dinner for just a week or two and not for many months as with the DJI and other high end / priced alternatives 😎😎😁😁👍👍 - and they can supply JUST AS much weekend Drone flying fun! (also, not over the 250 gram Drone registration weight required - BIG advantage !!)

    Hi Captain Drone. I’m loving your videos so please keep them coming 😊 . In one of your videos, you mentioned not ordering too many batteries due to customs restrictions. I have noticed some Chinese sites like Geekbuying will sell you 2 batteries with a drone but say that 3 batteries cannot be shipped to Canada. Other sites seem perfectly happy to let you order 3 batteries. Perhaps one of these days you could talk about this subject in more detail in a video? Looks like a nice relatively inexpensive drone given all the features....So I like the price with your coupon but I'm hesitant to purchase any drone with brushed motors. I purchased a Hubsan X4 Desire Pro recently (w/Brushled "coreless" motors) and 1 of the engines burned out in just 8 flights.
    Is that what one should expect with Brushed motors? What has your experience been with brushed motors (e.g., how long do they last)? I realize that you can always replace the engines but who wants to do that every 8 flights. Maybe I got a lemon engine..but still. Thoughts?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798 5 років тому +1

      It depends. If you crash often then brushed motors may be a problem. If no crashes then they should last for a long time. Most appliances & tools in your home that have a motor have a brushed motor. The benefit to brushed motors is less weight, smaller battery.

      As soon as you land it and the motors shut off, that is the end of return to home. The return to home upon the takeoff will change to the new location.

    What would be your recommendation for a cheap(under $200) gps drone for a gopro?? Or perhaps a GPS drone with a camera and gimbal with close to gopro quality. Doesn't need any sensors or follow, just needs to hold a position and height. Im new to the channel, great stuff. I'm from the fpv freestyle world so if all else fails I'll go to inav maybe

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798 5 років тому +2

      When it comes to price, you will get nothing good for under $200 in the area of camera. You're up over $500 before things become acceptable, and up near $1000 before it becomes similar to a GoPro. You could strap a GoPro onto most large brushless drones. Obviously you won't get any video feed back from the GoPro to show you what your camera sees, unless you use the GoPro App and fly really close to yourself. Have a look at the 5W Drone: ua-cam.com/video/0BeZ8QNCr7I/v-deo.html

    Captain, went ahead and purchased the X103w from Banggood based on yours and other recommendations. To say that I am TOTALLY disappointed with the purchase is an understatement. I like the size/weight and the finish of the drone is nice but the drone can't seem to fly in the lightest of winds. I have not had a single successful flight in GPS mode. As in the RC Saylors and JD quad videos the drone is prone to a upset wobble and loss of control (not 100% sure why but suspect that the control algorithm for recovery after an disturbance/upset is incorrect. The controller gains have to be adjusted by MJX). Can break the unstable wobble by quickly switching out of GPS mode, manually regain control and putting back in GPS mode. Only successful flights have been hovering indoors either in GPS mode (zero satellites) or Gesture Mode (totally manual control). I would note that Yaw gain is very high and control is sensitive while the other control functions are dead or dampened. Have had outdoor flights where control input did not give any response.
    Video is poor (major jello effect - could be props or brushed motors with no camera stabilizer) but still pics are OK (high shutter speed). Tried Point of Interest mode with total failure. Drone started circling, wandered off, lost control and wobbled to the ground. RTH = Rise to High Altitude (not sure if this feature works as advertised return to home). Will play with it some more but based on my experience I would rate this drone as a ZERO out of five. I would not recommend to anyone and in my case, not worth returning to Banggood.
    Wonder if the SJRC Z5 has similar problems.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798 5 років тому +2

      Video quality is clearly as shown in every review on UA-cam. As for wobble and wandering off and point of interest, RTH not working for you.... Well, you either have a broken drone, a dud, or the worst cell phone on the planet. As we say in the drone world and RC plane world, the price reflects the level of technology and depending on where you are coming from (total beginner new to drones, or a DJI owner), your experience and expectations will remain unmanageable and dissimilar. Some will love this drone, as been clearly shown and others who unknowingly expect plenty for their $$ will not be as happy. For the price of this product you get plenty of technology, but if you want DJI quality, this will not cut it. It is amazing to look back one year ago on my channel and see what was being offered in the drone market for the same price, you'd be rather shocked. I have reviewed the MJX X103 and the JJRC model (both identical) and both of my reviews clearly show what a user should expect and not expect.

      @@steveb8670 I think this drone sold really well due to price/features. It is very much like the SJRC Z5 from months ago. Unfortunately low cost drones really don't come with support or warranties or 100% quality control. Coming from the DJI world, my review and others showing the video quality should have set your expectations on the correct path. For people new to drones, this MJX drone would seem incredible because they have no drone experience to compare it with. I dont recomend buying this drone it was $100 with two batteries. Luckily I bought it off Ebay and they have a 100% return policy.

      btw ..... SJRC has a very similar drone called X11 ....not the F11 ....the New one is the X11 and it looks to be like MJX Bugs 4W .....so there may be an interesting compare to see which one is better .... maybe the same drone with diff branding not sure.
