Stjepan, i came to this channel two years ago for your free Catalan Repertoire. you are fantastic. you have taught me so much. i dont care how big you get or how well you do in the IV Div Croatian League-(far better than i)-you will always be in my top 3 recommended channels. you have a subscriber forever. what you do is unmatched. i’ve beaten two 1900s as a 1000 with the Catalan exclusively.
This is a very instructive game for those who learn chess. During the play, we should never think about the bigger picture or anything else but the game. Not even winning, but playing the best move in the position. Otherwise, Bd1 happens, and it's not even the worst move. Nxc7. By far the worst move of the game. When all of your pieces are on the king-side, and all of his - on the queen-side, trading an attacking piece is a bad idea. In this case, it lifts the pressure a bit and does even more damage by helping the opponent to bring his Queen back into the game. As Ben Finegold would say after seeing Nxc7, "Ugh, I just ate". It's very simple. Just turn your brain off and look at the board. Look at where your pieces are, and where your opponent's pieces are. He will be losing tempi trying to get his pieces back to his king. Just attack, sacrifice, and follow all that by etcetera.
Your story tellingwas so refreshing and what a feeling you had seeing the person in board one loose ... After you were hopeless.... Congratulations uour channel is a germ to me .... Hope to meet you someday in person
Curious if you've ever thought of using the keres variation as a move order trap against dragon players if you were intending to play a close Sicilian. 1. e4 c5 2. Ne2 d6 3. g3 Nc6 4. Bg2 g6 5. c3 Bg7 6. d4 as an example variation, where white is strategically on the verge of winning. It's a move order trap because typically black would like to play D5 in one go, but since they played d6 players never push d5 since they will have effectively lost a tempo. If they don't play the dragon settup than you can simply play the closed Sicilian. This is something I used to do when I played the Closed Sicilian, but have since opted to go back and play more main lines.
I, too, have developed a preference for the Closed Sicilian, but Stjepan's aggressive kingside pawn moves in the opening have not been a part of my repertoire.
6:46 moves like this you dont have to worry about at all, no human would ever be able to calculate something like this ever even though it may be the best move by engine, its very impractical for a human
I'm thinking that after 6...Bd7 (the retreat), 0-0 may be necessary, since after 7. d3, Black could have played Qc8, lining up on the h-pawn and complicating a quick castling. 10:25 You need a way into the position to get at h7? Be4
10:34 The moment I saw this move I was like, oh Rxd5, what else? Then you get f7 as a penetration square and black is still playing with half their army.
I wonder if this set up is better than playing the Grand Prix. I haven’t studied this variation at all, but any quick thoughts on how it differs and why this set up is better?
It's safer, less forcing, leaves more material on and the center is closed. It's a setup, not really a variation, as you play the same thing against pretty much anything black does. And the attacking idea with h4, f4, g4, Ng3 is something you can do against g6 setups.
I think you should listen to your intuition more, after the bishop sac you knew there must be something there, but couldn't calculate it fully, but that should've been enough, especially with a perpetual as a last resort
Why dont you learn the open sicilians? Most principled way of playing + learning main lines early is always good. Gives good fighting chances for both sides.
HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FUNNY MEME BRO! AHAHAHAHA I LOVE READING THIS 94 TIMES A DAY! BBBAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IT LITERALLY NEVER GETS OLD!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉😂😅😂😂🎉

i really need to see this 1700 legend scalping the FM
I often play Grand Prix against Sicilian. Instead of Bb5 I play Bc4. It always helps to have the a2-g8 diagonal to yourselves. Great video!
congrats for winning, all the best stjepan ❤️
Congrats!!!
Thanks!
Congratulations ❤
Congratulations on winning your first tournament!
congrats and good luck in the final!
It's over already, but thanks! I was a bit late with uploading these.

congrats my friend..!!
I'd like to take up the Closed Sicilian, but 2...e6 idea 3...d5 puts me off. As your videos are good I'd appreciate it if you made a video about it.
I will be covering the Closed Sicilian in detail.
Do you recommend any particular resources for studying this opening?
We have a guy who lost on time on totally winning endgame (he had 30 minutes to think and he spent it all and didnt even do the move)
10:34 The moment I saw this move I was like, oh Rxd5, what else? Then you get f7 as a penetration square and black is still playing with half their army.
7:18 I Every time you say that I can see the pain in your face
Haha congrats!!

Maybe he was tired lmao. Good break

@@HangingPawns anyway congratz on the win now you have to win the croatia cup.
Always the worst feeling when you have your opponent by his balls and lose on time or blunder 😂😢
