- I heard this and had to learn it! I haven't seen many Goodman covers on UA-cam before. I believe this is from the 1937 recording of this song.
This is the closest I'll get to playing with a swing orchestra in 2020 - so I thought I'd dress appropriately!
I'm playing my 6 string fretless headless Carillion Single-Cut Prometheus bass, with Bartolini pickups. carillionguita...
Settings: Passive mode, 75% bridge pickup, single coils.
Sound is pure and recorded direct with no effects except panning - so Benny and I can duet in your ears!
I hope you enjoy!

You already know this is going to be great when you see your favourite metal bass player in suit! Much class 🔥 🤘
That's very kind of you - thanks!
@@ArranMcSporran Pleasure Arran! I was wondering if you could be my online teacher this summer 🙏
@@zubairhumza9308 sure! Just send me a message through my website, or other social media links on my channel
My dad played the "stand up bass" in college in the early 50s. He would so have loved today's fretless electric basses.
What a wonderful thought!
man that must be a CGI effect - no way he palys that good - yes; I know he does! Awesome!!!
🙏🏻
Amazing!!!!
Thanks!
This just always puts a smile on my face. Thanks for it, Arran!
Wow, that was really cool and a lot of fun too, so upbeat!
NGL, that bass looks mad comfortable to play. The angled pickups with a thumb rest and easy high access and a really nice mid focus jazz tone. Sounds great :)
That's very kind of you, thank you!
in a jacket and a tie. top class, great work
I grew up listening to that solo! You nailed it!
You are killing it brother! Great tone, great bass, great playing.
Beautiful all the way around
so fresh
That was so awesome
such a mellow tone!
Very impressive
Brilliant.
Stupendously good Arran!!!
On point!!
Love this, great playing and the suit is awesome!!
Nice!
My man
so inspiring
Thanks!
Love everything you do, man ! So disappointed the last Virvum show in Lyon was cancelled... What pickups are you using here ? Sounds so mellow !
Thanks! These are Bartolinis, which I have in pretty much all my basses. It's a shame about the shows situation at the moment, hopefully everything will be back to normal soon!
Let's hope so ! I'll be there when you're back on stage 🤘In the meantime, I'll be watching your vids !
Glad to know we both enjoy the Barts ! Got a pair on a Spector Legend, definitely my favourite bass
Some smooth grooves dude i like it!
Awesome brother!!!
great! nice fretless tone!
Nice sound
Thanks!
Good playing, good sound. If you want a hugh challenge tackle Arty Shaws Nightmare ! What are the strings ? I have a Steinberger small body w a 1 of a kind Moses Graphite neck w an Ebony fretless lined fingerboard . Bartolini pickup. Very acoustic sounding. The small body doesn't do the E string justice so I need a set like yours so A can be the low string. I've looked and looked , but never found six string flat wounds. Thanks.
Do the Clarinet Polka next!
good!!! touch!! oh woo... i m korean .. you nice!!!
WOW! I'm late to this party, but this bass cover is rare and outstanding! Question: I started learning bass 3-yrs ago on my own via books, etc. Is it too much to begin learning on a 6-string, since thats what I want to play? I started with 4-string P-Bass and it's a keeper. But as a keyboards player for decades (by ear), I'm drawn to the melody w/ improvisation & I want to learn on a fretless bass. Am I biting-off too much to start with? Thanks & be well. Peace.
I bought my first 6-string on ebay after I'd only been playing for a year, because many of my favourite players used 6ers. I figured I could just sell it on if I didn't get on with it, but it wasn't as hard as I thought and I never looked back 🙂
@@ArranMcSporran Many thanks my Brother for the response. I keep trying to find a systematic study system to learn 6-string and several teachers I contacted don’t do 6-string. So rather than getting bogged down further, I will buy a decent 6-string and approach it like I did with the keyboard-practice, learn it and most of all enjoy it. Thanks a million! 💯
@@powerforward1955 Great! I found learning all the notes on the neck and using non-bass exercise books was the best way to approach understanding the whole instrument.
I also do online video lessons if you want some lessons and exercises once you've got your 6-string!
@@ArranMcSporran Thanks a million. I’m looking forward to my journey with the 6-string bass.
Your right hand technique is incredible! What exactly are you doing? 🤔
Thank you! On this it's a combination of raking with some left hand legato. My hand is hopping around for my thumb to keep the strings muted. I recorded a video YEARS ago about it here, if you want to watch it: ua-cam.com/video/4robudUAdMc/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for sharing the video. Right hand technique for electric bass is so crucial.
@@billylikitsakosmusic6367 I agree!
Chad?
Lady Wilhelmina?
Fretless but still draw some marking on the fret 😒
Just like Jaco 😒
@@ArranMcSporran don't you have any other well-known example ?😵💫
