That was so much fun to see their reaction to Santa’s gifts! I so miss the days of getting everything ready on Christmas Eve setting it all up. My favorite part of my Santa prep was stuffing the stockings. It was so sweet to get to see children experience the thrill of seeing the tree Christmas morning. Thank you for sharing so excited for your little ones.
I have 4 kids and they are grown now. The oldest held onto belief until 10 in Santa, as we didn't want to spoil it for the younger kids. The next (now that she is grown) said she went along (after learning from a sunday school teacher about truth of Santa (which upset her) since about 8 years old) for the younger 2. The third child (now grown says) she didn't ever really believe (she is very logical and factual since birth practically and still is, said she didn't believe bc Santa's breath at the mall stunk like alchohol when she was about 3. She never said anything and played along. The 4th child believed until about 9, until I thought she was trying to look at the presents I had hidden in a closet I left open. I was upset and told her he wasn't real and she said I ruined her belief in Santa (as she wasn't trying to look like i had thought). I also was feeling guilty for lying bc it started bothering me that I had lied to them all , but I shouldn't have ruined it for her like that. If you want to keep the excitement of Santa, your kids still have a few years. I used to tell my kids when they wondered but still believed, "Santa only comes to those who believe". That is true if you think about it.
Santa only comes to the homes where the children believe. That was my story, and I stuck to it, actually, still do (even tho I'm 63 years young)!! As my children got a bit older and I could tell they were wondering if Santa was real, I told them, of course he is. BUT he only goes to the houses where children believe. Made perfect sense to my kids, and why Santa didn't visit some of their friends' homes any more. Magic is a wonderful thing, as is imagination. My husbands cousin and his wife had 11 children - my 2 mixed in the middle of theirs, age wise. All I had to say was, well, if you don't believe, Santa won't come - how can he, he has so many children to visit at Aunt J and Uncle M's house as there was always one more added, that if you don't believe, it left him time for all the new children. It was, actually, never has been, discussed to this day. And I'm way to sentimental to learn when they really figured it out. I always had an answer for their wonder. Now I have 3 young grandbabies, and the magic continues, through myself, and my daughter. It warms my heart when I hear her worry about the same things I used to worry about with her and her brother. In this crazy world, there is plenty of room for a bit of magic!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your beautiful family, from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada XO❤
When my oldest stopped believing in Santa, I told him Santa was real and that he could be Santa. I have him some money and he bought things for his sister's stocking and had so much fun.. He decided that Santa was real because of how much fun he had. I didn't have to worry about him telling her the truth.
The problem with "santa" came when I had to tell him that santa was a make believe person to make Christmas more magical for kids. My son at 10 said , how is it magical to lie to us. You have always said lying is bad and we should never do it. Then I saw the light bulb go off and he said so I guess the tooth fairy and Easter bunny are not real. If I could go back I would have been truthful from the start with my son.
When Santa is no longer believed in, he no longer leaves that child a gift. We are going through that in our family too! In our family Santa only leaves one gift everything else is from family, so one less gift isn't noticed!
Sometimes Santa leaves things to be assembled and late at night when santa drops off the gift some Moms and Dads stay up to put together so thier kids can play with them in the morning,
You’re going to have to work out the best way to break it to them that Santa isn’t real eventually guys… It’s heartbreaking 💔 I know, but leaving it too long makes them vulnerable to other kids telling them for you. I focused on the ‘original Santa’ Saint Nicholas with my children & the special role that all parents have to keep the magic alive. You can read lots of stories about St Nick & the true meaning of Christmas (Jesus’ birth) in the months leading up to next Christmas or in the months leading away from the Christmas we’ve just had. Good luck, you got this 🍀

Never take the magic of santa from a child.
