- Another astonishing sample of progressive metal that was initially released in the demo tape of Aslan (1986), the early form of US progressive metal masters Psychotic Waltz.
Found this gem at a Salvation Army in Chula Vista, Ca. for .50 cents in mint condition signed by Norm over 10 years ago!
Whoa, score, man. I'm just having my listening intro to Aslan and digging' it!
Score!! I paid hundreds for the vinyl box set just to have these 4 tracks!!!
Gold!
Aslan and what became Psychotic Waltz are a true musical revelation. Glad having seen them live in 2017 again!
Fan of Psychotic Waltz since the first recording released in germany. This gem I discovered decedes after, and I`m still surprised by the early power of the best progressive metal band of all times.
truly gods of metal.
this music means a lot to me. thank you for sharing with us. lightnings are striking somewhere while listening to this.
Indeed

This song makes me want to chase the stars
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just best vocals ever...
People smiling, looking at our kind
They think we must have lost our way
And as they wonder what's gone wrong within our minds
They twist the words we have to say
Why look at me
O' I wish you had a mirror
That could show you your true self
All the people smiling still looking in our eyes
Wondering, are we for real
Well, to chase the stars is but a dream that's made of lies
Look at you, you're men of steel
And about this time they shake their heads and quickly walk away
But where they're going, do you want to be
They overfill a life with nothing to get by and by
And they're back again so faithfully
Not me
O' at least I hope not
I need to reach for more
We reach for the stars
We'll find a rainbow
We reach for the stars
We found our lives
Why look at me
When O' it's so plain to see
That you make what you are to be
And we reach for the stars
We'll find a rainbow
We reached for the stars
We found our lives
I knew that after the first three seconds this was something special.
@celestiall Totally agree with you, as well. Been fans of these guys since I first heard them playing (on stereo) at Trip West in El Cajon!!! Loved 'em so much I had make sure I started working with Buddy (aka Devon). Went to school w/Brian and Dan.

Beautiful music. I realize I'm still quite influenced by them in my own metal music today (see my channel). They were one of a kind. Saw them live once, that was pure magic
Does anyone else also hear some Queensryche influence in guitar work and vocals?
