I guess we all get to a point in life when open-tuned, non-distorted teles just hit the spot
we needed that back
The drummers face says it all. It's how I feel every time I hear this song.
My exact thought whenever I watch this
constipated?
@@ChadKingOfficial I was thinking more melancholic, but sure!
this is lowkey one of the best KEXP recordings ever
This and Silhouettes are top 5 for sure
everyone a gangster until the horns come in
that horn turns boys into men
@@eyvindur3000 yes and real men cry
Bro this shit made laugh too hard
That green Telecaster is beautiful. The color reminds me of the debut album cover as well.
Sage Green Metallic or Jade Pearl Metallic Telecaster.
Tears were cried whilst watching this. One of the most beautiful peices of music ever created
pablo binch calvo I’m literally in my car crying while listening to this haha
I was good until that transition into The One With The Wurlitzer, and then I started crying haha
Its not a phase mom
Lost Gems it wasn’t
@@GlennJimenez is that a good or bad thing? does it even matter?
this stuff just makes me feel whole, not just understood like it used to.
I miss my 20s. I miss 2013. I miss playing in rock bands and being young.
It’s so so short.
Aunque a veces te moleste nunca te abandonare

La Vida Boheme - Flamingo. Got that reference.
americ anfootball y la vida boheme?? es mucho
The guys in AF are in their 40s. No reason to stop tbh
Saw them in London for the first time in november 2019, before the lockdown. I was there with my girlfriend and one of my closest friends; one of the best concerts of my life. Atmosphere was so intimate and warm that i almost cried, my eyes were wet during the whole show. This band changed my life, taught me to connect with my inner and emotional part. Anytime i listen to them i feel i am part of the whole, i feel the flow of life and nature and i'm glad to be a grain of sand in it.
Exactly the same here, when they came to Argentina last year. There's something special about this band that no other could do for me. I feel you man.
everybody gangsta until 0:02
Seeing them vibe so much with the art they’ve created over 20 years ago is truly a magical thing. I wish i could be privileged to be apart of something similar. Truly fascinating.
it feels like there's an elephant on my chest
Best live recording for the best American Football song. Thanks KEXP people for the amazing sound and video, thanks American Football for the feels.
Love how happy the drummer looks
This is one of the most brilliant and artistic transitions I’ve ever heard.
They deliver sad song with an beautiful emotion. Love yall 🖤
This is perfect. From Chile , this band always makes me chills
This is truly one of the greatest songs ever. Maybe not the greatest but one of.
So many memories. This is the sound of being a teenager as the sun goes down in your town.
Got lost in this version, until Cheryl scared the shit out of me at the end...
love that they flow into the one with the wurlitzer like on the album
oh god this is even better than the original
Perfection. So happy to witness this.
this song is very beautiful
honestly yeah my favorite song off of this album real.
They are really makes me cry
just bawled my eyes out after this
My god Steve.... He is so good

Thank you for this track!! A true blessing to hear this
American Football. The band that makes long intros sound good
hey look its the drummer from capn jazz
Creo que Necesito una telecaster pero ya :'v
I don't know why fender does not endorses them.
Stay home
American Football were ready to make quarantine music since 1999 lmao

Alexander Supertramp Werid Fishes by Radiohead is the closest you’ll get to that bliss
What ab deathcore lol. I’m kidding. I love both genres dearly but 2 completely different styles
@Alexander Supertramp Two is best
Hehehe ❤️
@@llsspp all guitars in standard on that one! but yeah when the sampled guitar comes in at the end of the verse it hits
I was twenty years old in 1999, escaped from university, shut up at home destroyed by depression and vices and with this album in headphones, I've been listening to him for twenty years
Andrea Consonni how are you doing now doe?

madrubicon sad dads upvote
How do you have an ad in the middle of a song? How is that ethical ?
I didn't think it was possible for this song to get any sadder, but the echoing vocals makes it feel so distant, colder than the studio recording... I love it.
Didn't know it was that old
I think the entire album sounds way more distant and moody, this live is somehow warm and comforting
Im in a lockdown state because of Covid-19. Hope everyone in the same timeline is okay, we gonna survive this! I promise you that. 03/16/2020 #stayathome

Hope we survive period. Far worse things at play right now besides covid...

We'll make it through this. The longer this winter is the greater the celebration will be when it's all over. Take care of me because I might be you.
That intro is still one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard in my life
I have a theory that they realised when writing it how special the intro was. They almost daren’t interrupt it, and that’s why it’s so long.

why does every one but Mike look like the same person at different ages in their life? LOL
I would love a remake of the first álbum with this quality of sound
too late now isn't it? :(
The transition from stay home to the one with the wurlitzer is spot on
They are all so keyed in, all the collective sounds and energies they bring create a whole new dimension.
Such a great band. Americ always delivers.
anfootball
How did they write such amazing music when they were so young?
Angst, naivety, confidence and focus.
All of the greatest music by bands happens when they're young. I agree it's amazing.
Genius
There's no age that guarantees amazing music. It just happens to exist when they have to.

As the world is crumbling, AF is getting me thru these long days.
Why has no one described American Football as prog before? Prog Emo should be a thing. AF are heavily influenced by Tortoise which are influenced by CAN (a prog/psych band). First time I listened to AF I didn't think they sounded like an emo band. Something to consider while listening to them.
Math rock is the word you're looking for. Prog emo I feel is more along the lines of Chiodos or Coheed And Cambria or maybe even Angels And Airwaves
this does feel like tortoise quite a bit now that I think about it
genre Nazi spotted 🙄🙄
@@cocothesocialist3690
Well they're midwest emo, which basically is emo math rock
He didn't sing the last line "so stay home"!!!??
Finally!! I was looking for this comment. A really shame, but this version still a masterpiece
i listened them a lot in my teenage years on my mp3, feeling emo
Transition at 3:12 made me shed a tear. That was beautiful! 🥺
I listened to this song so many times before I moved my entire life to Europe. It was an amazing decision but gosh this song was hittin different during those times
I have been listening to metal for most of my life, and its just the most crushing and brutal stuff. But right before school comes along, this song comes back to me. I want to stay home. I dont want to ever leave. But, its necessary. If i could stay home, and listen to this permanently, I would.
Man, I wish they could play it again in the key of F
Dean Anderson I like it half a step down
i kinda liked it this way so the transition when they play the one with the wurlitzer is smooth and at the same key but i get that u mean
Thought they sing "that's life, it's so so short" :) but love this song!!!
I always thought that was it too, and I think that's a better lyric :(. Took me like 5 years to realize it was "social".

I´ve watched this everyday for months now. I love this performance so much, thank you for everything Americ anFootball
A comment doesn't really explain the way that their music makes you feel, especially at the end with the trumpet.... GAWDAMIT that was good.
side note: I'm playing skyrim, pause by a fire with crickets....let the song end like that and tell me you don't have feelings
Hello. I am stay home.
The extended bit at the end is a treat
That's the song "the one with the wurlitzer" one of my favorites by them :)
@@woeisdrew they do it without drums makes even better
I just turned 25 last week, listening to this song on my birthday just put my entire childhood memories flashing in my head. and by the good lord, that outro with xylophone and trumpet just made me cry even more.
The drummers technique is amazing
Is this 7/4?. I love the drums
Karl Dgo the intro: mike’s part does two measures in 4/4 and one measure is in 6/4 while Steve’s part is 7/4 throughout, then the rest of song, both are 7/4.
that’s math rock for you
dat xylophone tho
reminds me quite a bit bolero of maurice ravel, im enjoying this song so bad!!!
