I remember when this was released. It was a favorite of mine. I was taking drum lessons at that time and I remember bringing this song to my teacher and we worked on it. Just a few weeks ago, my teacher, mentor and lifelong friend Chuck Frigon passed. This song means more to me now than ever. Thank you Chrissie. I think the world needs to rediscover this song.

Strangely (or maybe not), I have a similar story, inasmuch as I was learning to play the drums when this song was released.
I remember focusing on the drumkit shaking during the video.
It was a driving force behind the song.
      I was hooked!

It doesn’t get the notoriety that other more high profile deaths get, but James Honeyman Scott’s death was among the greatest tragedies to hit rock and roll. He is in a unique category along with guitarists like Randy Rhoads and Steve Gaines, of entirely gifted and talented young guitarists who were also very interesting and unique personalities that would have no doubt given us music that would be humming through our heads today on the regular. Iconic stuff. But they died entirely too soon.
And so instead we are sadly, but gratefully, left with a small sample of their formative genius, and a big gaping hole that asks “what if?”, along with the near-certainty that it would have been incredible. RIP

I saw The Pretenders at the Riv in Chicago 1980. They were great and I’ve always loved them but the band definitely changed after Pete and James died. Very sad that such talented musicians left at such an early age. Chrissy is one tough woman. Still going after so many challenges. Love the music.

The first two records, with the original lineup, are the best ones. In second place was "Learning to Crawl", which to me is also an essential '80's record. She got two new guys to fill in, but Chrissie's songwriting and the production are stellar and it has more great songs on it than the typical rock album.

The pretenders were a tight band, all of them virtuosos, before the tragic overdoses of James honeyman Scott and the bass player this is them showing off those skills, definitely one of my favorite pretenders songs.

    Now look at the people
In the streets, in the bars
We are all of us in the gutter
But some of us are looking at the stars
    I look round the room
    Life is unkind
We fall but we keep gettin' up
Over and over and over and over and over and over
