Matts. Never change. I love this throwback style video to your early days. You may not know how much, but your videos have gotten me through tough times and you just being a genuine guy out there sharing both success and sometimes no success is so refreshing and needed in this time where all you see is instant gratification on most social platforms. You are the real real and thats why I love your videos.
Good safety tips on rocks! I'll give you one in return. Get a short length of rope and tie it into the handle of your bucket. You can throw and retrieve the bucket and not have to go right to the edge of the water! Love the content!
The anchovy population in the bay and surrounding ocean is EXPLODING. My buddy at 26th and Balboa watched pelicans drop anchovies in the streets because their beaks were too full.
BROOOOO THAT SO GENIUS with the bubble box. flip your batteries when they are not in use to not accidentally drain the batteries low the best life/fishing hack
The bobber would work good off docks and piers here in Florida. Next time try tying a length of light anchor rope to the bucket handle; so you can retrieve the water. We even use a clip,so we can clip it on the handle and off.
Dude, I love your stuff!! I didn’t even know this existed a year ago. You inspired me to start my own channel! Thanks for all the killer fishing trips! 🔥👊🏻🎣
Just a tip: For walking on slippery rocks, buy a pair of felt soles for waders and glue them to a dedicated pair of shoes with shoe goo or similar. Can kinda literally be a life saver. You might need to grind the sole of the shoe down a little to get a good glue.
Totally happy you made another Jetty Episode, like your older videos! You make catching bait look like a ton of fun too haha. Gonna start catching them off the wharf in SC soon!
Interesting idea to soften the bones. Would be great to bread and deep fry too. Btw speaking of eating 'bait' does anyone eat Crangon bay shrimp up there in the Bay Area? In regions bordering the North Sea they're a delicacy, fry in butter, eat shell and all, cannot be beat
@@chir0pter If they exist there I'm sure someone eats them, unless they're protected. Back to eating bait... Most bait fishes' bones are edible even when fried. But in the pressure cooker the spine gets soft too, so you can get the extra calcium and nerve tissue nutrients. You can make them into cakes, sandwich fillings, or pizza toppings when bones aren't an issue.
@@moretimethanmoney8611 yeah I thought you lived there, I think people catch and buy them for bait so there might be a bit of a barrier to eating them. They really are one of the top 2 or 3 seafoods I've ever had tho, at least the species from Europe
Sweet a jetty video!!!! Love the shore fishing. I just got done fishing and filming at the south jetty of Morro Bay where no one goes but me. Landed 3 rock fish and a jack smelt for bait.
Was a little upset when you didn't help the dead seal. But then I realized: it's dead... Love your video, wish you and Taku make more videos together!!
I was just thinking about the weighted slip bobbers I have been making and how tired I was making them and wondering if someone was finely making them for casting. ( That was a long sentence)! 🤣. I like using them in the kelp as well. I should have known you would have them. Much love for you and the family.
Don't worry about it Matts and at least you got out for the day to relax by yourself. like the saying goes that's why it's called FISHING not CATCHING.
Another great video. @ 11:20 - Ocean may be unlimited rods but you were on a public jetty so I believe there's a 2 rod limit, the same as on a public pier. you may want to verify that.
Love the vids long time fan gathering bait fish can be very rewarding especially when you get huge hookups on the fresh bait you gathered its emotional.
Nice water/wind/wave conditions. Was there 2 weeks ago, over 3 days couldn't take the kayak out at all. My other 3 days spent north Pacifica, fishing in heavy morning surf. Again, seas too rough for me-kayak.
Hi, I've been watching your videos for years now and as always your videos are awesome. I'm new to Kayaking and just wondering if you could make a video on how to use the VHF radios and how to choose channels and how to call for help that would be very much appreciated. Thank you,
Maybe try to use a de-hooker and grab the weight when putting bait into your live well. You will remove less scales from bait and hurt it less. that will allow the bait to present itself better in the water
Good Video 📹 👍. Just a update, The Skagit area in Washington closed down shell fish harvesting because of (PSP) toxin Paralytic shellfish poisoning. No crabbing either.
**Theres a prime example of the scam profile and number in the reply under this post.** Great vid bro. Pro tip on the bubble box, use an 18650 or 2 of them if you have. EDIT* just gotta bend 1 prong side, not the spring side.* way better aeration, if you need. Keep up the great work brother! 🤙
There is a company that makes an aerator that runs off of 18650 recharble batteries that squirt out some hella nice air bubbles. You should check them out as rechargeable batteries will save hella money over the hella long haul.

No shame! As they say, "a bad day of fishing 🎣 is better than a good day at work ". You got after it! Thanks for sharing!
but what if his work is fishing...
What Andrew said. Does this apply when you make you living from fishing 🤔 at least he shows the reality of fishing most of the time 😂
@@nintendude1988 lucky man to call that work! Posting videos of fishing 🎣.
@@fishduckdog I'm definitely jealous!!
Totally dude 👍
Maaan I gotta get back out on the jetty…

@@HungryHelpings You're welcome
wonder if its like that in oceanside
The walk of shame is the best way to learn. Keeps you invigorated about how to plan for the next time.

I like how Matts share skunk days too. Some just post big catches.
As a parent, grandparent and great grandparent I am glad you remind people to be careful especially when fishing alone.
As always your production quality is top notch bro. Thanks for taking us with you!
Always a good day when you put out a new video!

I know the feeling...😮💨
I really enjoyed your last video showing us the freezing trick for the bait!

Perfect video for my lunch break
Fish is just the icing on the cake in addition to the fun and chill while fishing :D

Now thats fishing right there! Putting in all that work and sometimes we just get skunked but it’s all about that journey my friend! 🐟👌🏼
That's the fisherman's life man.
That’s why they call it fishing. But I can’t complain about the peacefulness and relaxation that goes along with it
Totally happy you made another Jetty Episode, like your older videos! You make catching bait look like a ton of fun too haha. Gonna start catching them off the wharf in SC soon!
You could just fill up your bucket with bait fish. Pressure cook them so the bones are edible, then pan fry with butter, etc. Delicious!

Is this jetty in Half moon Bay in California?

I love your videos and wait eagerly for them even if you don't catch any fish. I miss the butter though.
"sometimes it just doesn't go your way."
Probably the last thing that seal thought. 😭

could you possibly do a video showing how to make fishing knots and why and when you should use those specific ones
That anime run! 🤣
It ain't called catchin! Love the determination!

Dude, I've done the Walk of shame on that jetty so many times 🤣
The walk of shame..lol. :) Been there. It takes a long time to get out that jetty. Its a long and difficult walk. Better luck next days my friend.
The bobber stopper should be above the bobber to set max depth of the hooks. Otherwise it will not pull the bobber when you have fish on.
Good job Einstein
I drove down part the Pacific Coast highway it's so freaking pretty. When I got to half moon bay I thought of you!
A little bit of rope on that bucket handle really helps to get water and keep your feet dry
Best bait fishing video on UA-cam 😆
I was watching you eating perch. We buy ocean perch in the stores and it's one of the best tasting fish. I just wondered if it's the same perch
How I miss the Bay Area. I can smell the video all the way from here. Maybe i'll come visit next year when covid maybe is gone.
Dang I miss your old school jetty fishing videos.
I just realize this now but sometimes Matt sounds like Hank Hill from King of the Hill. Anyone else can hear it?
awesome!!! need more anime parkour fishermans life though!
Even without catching anything, it's still great to mix things up
Now this I can relate to. Hahaha great info though, hope to check out the jetty someday.

would be dope to see another trout catch camp cook vid
No luck there yet for me. But have seen a monster halibut swimming along the jetty..
Try the beach with a drop shot rig with a white plastic. Halibut like the surf with all the sand fleas and small fish in the surf.
Love the jetty videos
If you ever do a trip to Australia we will have to do a calab !
Fisherman’s life, are you going out for salmon this weekend? I keep seeing charter boats limiting out by 8:30 am. I’ll be out there Monday July 4th.

I just read a news story this AM about it raining anchovies in SF.

Fish surf for Hali’s moving bait or shallow water with moving baits
Ditch the trailer hook or go lighter gauge for small baits.
Love your videos! Curious why the seagulls are disappearing into thin air at 4 minutes though
That bubble box would be great. How long do the batteries last in it?
They last about 48-72 hours
@@FishermansLife thanks man just ordered one. Will be great for keeping bait alive but also for my aquarium during power outages.
