- Here’s how I plumbed my Honda pressure Pro 8 GPM to an IBC tote. I used mostly schedule 80 parts for the durability. Plumbing is 2 in to 1.5 in tubing. Most of these pieces are from my local hardware store. You may have to check Amazon for a few pieces. Use some good thread seal to prevent air from entering your water lines. Hope it is helpful. I wouldn’t run two pressure washers from the same feed line unless only one would be used at a time.

Have you ever considered getting a Hydrotek water recovery vacuum to filter out the water to 1 micron and pump it back into your water tank or secondary water tank to reuse?
No current use for it.

Great question. Use heavy duty stainless u bolts. It wraps perfectly around the round bottom frame of the IBC tote. Hope that makes sense. I may have covered it in one of my trailer videos.

Just a local hardware store. Had trouble finding them at Home Depot and Lowe’s. Also see if you have any plumbing stores.
Great video! I purchased an 300 gallon Ibc tote and have been looking at ways to plumb it. Do you have any trouble with the gravity flow? I have a 4 gpm pressure washer and am wondering if I need to install a pump to keep the pressure consistent.
No buffer is needed for a 4 GPM. Most commercial machines that are belt or gear will pull water so gravity feeding is not an issue. Most house hookups are 5-7 GPM of flow. If I had a 4 GPM, I personally wouldn’t plumb it unless it was a backup machine attached to a truck or trailer. Hope that helps.

No 1 in is more than enough for your 4 GPM machine. This plumbing was for a 8 GPM.
What connection do you have on the pump? is it like 1.5" male to barb that screws into the pump?
1.5” king nipple. Pressure Washer Products has them.
why didn't you glue the fitting on the first one? It seems to me that depending on friction is not the way to go, so now you have a large amount of water pouring out from your pipe. I do like the 2nd one, so as for me that's all I have to say.

I thought the filter should go before the tank not after. Does it make a difference?
All preference. I alway run my faucet for 10 seconds before hooking my hose up. This flushes any bugs and debris out.

I don’t have a parts list. That is one of our older plumbing videos. It is likely a 2” tee with reducing bushings.
I'm gonna be starting a mobile car wash business and wanna get a similar set up. No actual pump needed? I thought I'd need a pump to the pressure washer
You have to have a belt drive or gear drive pressure washer. A regular direct drive will give you problems
So I will not need a water pump , to have the force of the water to go to the pressure washer? I will be able to rely on leaving it on top of the bed and getting away with a gravity system method, I’m doing a neighborhood park and some fences, and do not have a water source so I got the tank, and waiting for the attachment so I do not know until Tuesday
Use a belt drive machine. It will suck water and not need gravity fed.
When plumbing … would it be better to use poly rather then brass fittings ?
Depends. For bypass poly and brass is fine.
Hey, I'm about to do the same. Start up on my pressure washing business. I was wondering if I can effectively use my IBC tote to gravity feed my pressure washer. I'll be using 3,200 PSI @ 2.4GPM.
You can but why not buy a used belt machine that will pull water. That machine is too small for commercial use. If it’s all you can afford, don’t use it longer than you have to.
Did you have to prime the feed hose? I’ve been having issues with getting my pump to prime. Any suggestions?
Not with a belt or gear drive machine. Wouldn’t recommend anything else
Hey man great video. What size barbs do you have on your banjo strainer?
Is that a 1 inch or an inch and a half size banjo strainer? Currently I have a 1 inch banjo strainer and can’t find any barbs that are 1 1/2 inch to 1 inch mpt
1.5 inch. If you are trying to use a 1 in y strainer and add 1.5 barbs, don’t do it. Just get a 1.5 y stainer. Your life will be much easier.

Not at all. Most use a smaller hose.

So how is it hooked up to the washer it's self? And is the flow of the water not need a pump in between the tank and the washer it's self?
Belt or gear drive will pull water if using the right pressure washer.

It doesn’t restrict it if using a good strainer filter. We run our hoses for a few seconds before connecting to run the bugs and debris out before hooking up.

yo my man, i have a 4gpm machine and building my trailer now, i have a big ibc tote, and i want to know if i have to put a pump in place to push the water, let me know and if gravity feed would work, how high would i need it to be?
Only a belt or gear drive will pull water. Wouldn’t recommend a direct drive running off a buffer tank.
Do you hook up directly to your pressure washer with just the inline filter? I thought you needed to run a water pump to help push the water from the tank to the pressure washer.
Belt and gear drive pressure washers actually suck water. That’s why you don’t see direct drive machines being professionally used in our industry. Hope that helps.

Also, an ibc tote will drain at around 40-60gpm through that 2" spout.
The restrictions are gravity and your pipe size. You can gravity feed. No need for a tank pump, imo.

What's the best way to run two 8gpm off one IBC tote?
I’d put in another bulkhead.
I have mine hooked up with 2" camlocks reduced down to 3/4 " faucet that is threaded.. Will that be enough pressure ? Because it seemed without the pressure washer hooked up to be a weak stream etc etc
This will vary depending on who you ask. I prefer 1.5 in for 8 GPM and at least 3/4 for a 4 GPM. Try to limit 90s and misc fittings as much as possible. Bigger is better. Hopefully you are using a belt or gear drive that can suck water. If not, make sure gravity is working in your favor.

You should not need a pump. Belt drive will suck. It’s better to have everything set up properly. Too much unnecessary things to break not to mention wiring, etc. Worst case scenario, if it’s direct drive, have your tank slightly raised so it can gravity feed to your pressure washer. There are easier ways to make it work besides a pump.

thanks for fast reply! hello from up here in seattle! I got the parts at good local hardware store, copying yours 1.5, except 1.5 bulkhead, 1.5 hose to banjo filter in/out, 1.5 to?? How did you connect 1.5 to pump? I've got 10.2 gpm general pump. That's my next problem to solve. I made a reducer setup to go 1.5 to 1 crush proof hose, but now I see you have 1.5 right to the pump, but please explain how you did this? thanks in adavance! nate
I used a king nipple fitting from Pressure Washer Products in Florida. Get a hold of Lori there. She will hook you up. Not sure the exact name or part number. They installed it when I ordered my pressure washer from them.

I saw their built 3500 8gpm great deal machine, 2 days after I ordered my new engine and pump and pulleys and skid etc to build mine. Get this , I told her I was thinking of canceling my honda motor and buying her machine, and sending back my other stuff that was being shipped already, and she said, "No, do not do that, you build your own." I said, what? I'm saying to her that I am thinking of buying her machine, and she literally tries to convince me to continue on my path and build my own. Tim, how can I take a 65 gallon tank and solely use it as a soaper?
I want to be able to get my gun, flip a switch and spray soap. I'm assuming I'll need a pump for it and idk.

Lions Gorrilla thanks for watching the video. As far as the 65 gallon tank, I’m assuming this will be a buffer tank for water to a pressure washer. You will also need a soap tank. I currently use a 15 gallon tank to draw straight SH through a downstream injector. I add some Elemonator soap to the tank. The best way to change from water to soap is to use a electronic ball valve. These can get a little complicated. There are products that solve that problem. Look up the Schwartz box on FB. This is currently the best option. You could also achieve this without a pressure washer and use a booster or 12 v pump but you would still need the box to switch from water to soap. What size of hose would you use from your plumb tank to a 4-5gpm Pressure washer? I used 1in and it wasn’t pulling enough water to my pressure washer
Direct drive machines will not pull water. Machine needs to be below the level of water. 1 in is plenty and should work. Probably overkill. You could use 3/4 with no problems. Sounds like you have a gravity feeding problem.
I started out w 1” for my 4 gpm direct. worked as long as hose ran down to the pump- that’s key. I had my 150 gallon tank elevated- gravity would push 12gpm
Seems it would just be easier to get a belt drive machine.
My 8gpm came with all 1” plumbing… it runs fine but do you think it would be better with 1.5”?
I have zero issues with the machine as is but curious, would I see a difference???
This is an older video. We have switched to 1 in with no issues. 1.5 is fine but a lot less bulky. Never had an issue with 1 in.

I think you could get away with 1 in. I did it with the recommendation of Pressure Washer Products. I’ve never had a problem with water. I’d rather push the most water I can to my 8 GPM.

I don’t have a link to the parts but you can pause the video and screen shot it. I sourced my parts from Amazon and Home Depot. The speciality part is the Banjo 2” Tee from Amazon. All threads are NPT. Hope this helps.

You sure it’s not a 2 in? Also check to see if it’s NPT or course threads. I prefer NPT. Most IBC totes are standard 2 in. You can always get a 2 in fitting from a hardware store to see if it fits. Let me know if I can help. Good luck

How much can you power wash with 250 gal tank and can you hook up 2 power washers to it 4gpm
That tank could definitely feed two 4 GPM pressure washers. That tank is a 275 gallon tank. I always have the garden hose running to it. It’s used as a buffer tank. If I had no water refilling while I’m washing, I could run approximately 30 mins with my 8 GPM pressure washer. Double that if running a 4 GPM pressure washer. Hope that helps. Your filter is upside down, how is the dirt supposed to drop in the filter
Check it about once a month. No problems. These filters don’t need to be turned a certain way. It comes down to personal preference. Also always let your garden faucet run for a second to blow out dirt and cobwebs before hooking up your water supply. I appreciate the comments.

What did you use to secure the tote to the trailer
U bolts around the bottom of the tote frame through the floor. Use stainless and big fender washers.

Honestly ones that will fit. Gauge the thickness of your trailer floor. I think I used 3/8 size threads
Your old setup looks like it just wasn’t glued up properly. I’m getting ready to plumb my leg tank the same way I’ll run a test piece see how it holds up to some abuse. Did you use the brass 3/4 mpt to 1/2 barb at the pump?
1 1/2 barb. Old plumbing set up was rough but it lasted all year and made money. No issues. Just wanted to clean it up before I had issues.
My IBC has a large thread coming off the valve! What fitting would you use? Rubber fernco?

Don’t need a buffer for 4 GPM unless there’s no water on-site. You want a belt or gear drive machine or it won’t properly pull water. Don’t rely on gravity feeding regardless of what you hear or people telling you. Use the right machine and you will be happy you did.

Ten trips to the hardware store. I started buying all my nuts and bolts by the box. Buy multiples of the most common stuff. Organize in a tote and label. I bought one of those bin organizers from Uline. It’s life changing.

How do you prime the pressure washer? I pull my trigger and no water comes out.
With mine, it pulls water itself. Most belt drives suck water. No need to pull the trigger. I start mine with the ball valve open. I’m sure it can be started closed with the bypass hose going back to the buffer tank.
Do you think there would be any problems with the water getting there with a 4gpm direct drive machine? I'm going to setup a trailer myself this year and was going to run 1 1/2 inch pipe all the way down from 2inch of course
Honestly, I wouldn’t run a buffer tank with a 4 GPM. If you are set on it, I’d make sure it’s level. A belt drive will suck the water better and worth the few extra bucks.

For? Pressure washer has a belt drive pump. I use a measuring cup for soap. I use a 12v for my dedicated roof pump. I use a transfer pump to transfer SH to the truck.
