Is it really hard to get food, especially meat, in your village during wintertime that there is a need to stock on them? I guess it is probably also the tradition/culture there, so nothing much to wonder. But since you have electric power in your house, why not invest on a refrigerator or freezer. En casa 1 o 2 veces al año, sacrificabamos 1 cerdo grande y lo preservamos en su propia grasa, después de pre cocinarlos , duraban así su carne y grasa muchos meses sin necesidad de refrigerarlos .
