Here’s a moody one… About a year before I left Japan 🇯🇵 we were turned down to rent a lovely home in Shizuoka. Our whole family was disappointed (heartbroken might be a better word), and I know that this event catalyzed our decision to leave #Japan. Ten years later, on a solitary walk through this same neighborhood (where Yumiko’s family lives) I found myself standing in front of this same house 🏡 upon which our fortunes did literally turn. I stood there in the dark before the home’s dim porch light, and I wonderful at that the life that might have been, if only the owners had said yes. (KB)
