The duet between Stef Bos and Miss Montréal was stunning.
I follow you quit a long time and this is definitely my favourite music reaction channel. I really feel the love you have for real, pure music (such as "De beste zangers")....love it ! ♥️. I totally agree with you that this season is great with all these singer-songwriters. I never thought that it would be possible to equal last year, but these singers AND BAND did! And I just want to say that to me you are " the real deal", because you know what you're talking about and you're not afraid to show the emotions that music brings to people. At least good music and not the stuff you hear for a few weeks and then disappears and you will never hear of it again......
I hope you will react to a lot more Beste Zangers-songs, especially Tabitha with "My land is you land", Milow with " Is dit nu later" and Stef Bos & Miss Montreal " Laat me"
And I like it very much that you are trying to learn some Dutch, because that seems to be a difficult language (although I manage to speak it for 64 years😁).
Thanks Valerie, Tabitha has been a surprise for me too, especially in how she opened her heart and let it flow very honestly in her performance and song telling. Your reaction touched on that very experience. ❤
A simple song is sung with heartfelt emotion, without any of the usual gratuitous vocal tricks, and gymnastics. As you say, ”real life, and real emotion”. Tabatha is far more impressive for being restrained when the song calls for it. Thanks for this one.
This was a far more emotional season than last year, last year was "over the top" (in a good way!) and a lot of people now take that as the measure (wrongfully so).
This season also had a lot of Dutch songs, way more than normal and that too might influence the experience of people i guess.
But for me personally, eventho i prefer English lyrics, i really enjoyed this season a lot, as always.. the show is more than just the music, the whole experience counts.
One of the duets i know will blow you away is the last duet, Miss Montreal and Stef Bos doing "Laat me" ("let me/leave me be").
"Laat me" is an icon of a song for Dutch people, to compare it to an American iconic song you have to think in the lines of "New York, New York" or "I did it my way", its that big a song here.
Now the style is completely different, its far from a crooner song, but it is of that caliber to us. (and i suggest getting translations for the lyrics, its a truly powerful song)
About this song, i already had a feeling this might touch you personally due to what you've told us about the painful loss of your son in law so i cannot give anything other than the biggest respect to you that you share such personal information with us and that you still uploaded this because it is that personal for you.
But that is a major reason why i, and many others, are a big fan of you and your work because you are so genuine, real and caring, that and your amazing smile keeps us coming back for more each and every time :D

Funny that you mention My way because the subject is more or less the same, even the title "(I did it) my way" and "Laat me (m'n eigen gang maar gaan)" : "Let me (go my own way)". Except that one is looking back and the other is looking back and continuing to do it his way :)

This song is one of my favorites this season, just like the duet from Tabitha with Suzan & Freek. Tabitha is really great. And this song from Tabitha is also the favorite one from my girlfriend. I totally agree with you
she sings 3 of the duets.those who wait for the full episode,working on it,translation almost done,but video quality is low,waiting for better version.i will translate season 218 also,some is already done,but is needs some more work.

There is an 8 hour time difference between Pacific Time used at the US West Coast and Central Europe Time used in the Netherlands and Belgium. I think many viewers will have a moment to chat in their evening. I'd plan it after 19:00 CET, which is after 11:00 your time, most people will have had dinner by then and will have a moment to sit behind their computers.
As an evening person I second this.
Singer songwriters can write songs in different genres though. So I do think they could have been all different singers. That being said, everyone you have reviewed here is very talented. Is it as exciting as last year? No, but there is very beautiful music being played, and if you can get yourself to be patient you can see the quality of the lyrics and the beautiful voices these people do have. The emotion demonstrated and their performances and in their eyes is also very apparent.
Have to disagree... they are from different genres. The only ones that I feel are "similar" are Milow and Wulf. The rest are really different imo.

Might I request you do the song Shadow Man by Helmut Lotti next? It's from the Belgian version of this show (called Liefde voor Muziek, which translates to Love of Music). The song is originally byy the band K's Choice and I absolutely love Helmut's range in this version
@Valerie, as ususal a great professional reaction. I liked this saison very much. So many beautiful songs. And most of these singers can also play an instrument. As Ronald Harreveld, in the reactions alsready said, the duet of of Steff and Sanne, "Laat me", was stunning and is seen bij a lot of people as the best of this year. They do a song together of Ramses Shaffy (passed away 11 years ago). He can be seen as our dutch Leonard Cohen. The meaning of Laat me in this song is 'Let me live my life in my own different way'. Don't interfere in my affairs. Don't worry about me'. This song had realy to do with the way of living of Ramses (to much booze).
Because of the high emotional intensity of this song, Steff didn't want to rehearse the song with Sanne. He wanted to let the real emotion speak spontaneously during the performance. And it did. The performance gave us goozebumps. Link: ua-cam.com/video/zfmAqZQz94E/v-deo.html

@@VocalSplendorStudios In that case some additional information. Ramses was born in Paris and raised in the netherlands by adoptive parents. During his study he met Liesbeth List. They became friends for life. They did many duets together. Ramses died in 2009, Liesbeth in march this year. Because of his fysical and mental problems Ramses lived the last years of his life in a nursing home. His body destructed by to much booze (let me live my own life).
Stef takes the role of Ramses, Sanne the role of Liesbeth.

If you like Tabitha's voice and emotional presence, you should really do a reaction of her version of 'My land is jou land' (a song by Stef Bos). The song itself has a beautiful meaning, which she delivers beautifully and you can really tell she feels the lyrics of the song. She also adds a little bit more melody when compared to Stef Bos' original version of the song.
