    Thank you very much for the drone footage. It shows the real state of the place. It's not an island that the needs to be sold by the Meisters- it's the Treasure Cay Resort (which owns the marina and rights to the restaurants: CocoBar, Spinnacker, Tipsy) that needs to be sold. Residential properties are individually owned. C'mon Meisters..put a fair price and get on with the sale to a bona fide investor who will develop our little community! You don't need anymore money, and we need to have a marina and gathering places, that will bring in jobs, and stimulate the limping economy. Let your legacy be one of contribution, not of holding this community hostage to ab unreasonable pricetag.

      The issue is not the price. The issue is a certain buyer who does not want to take no for an answer

    You can't force someone to sell you something, I can't stand these foreigners who think they can just walk into someone country and buy anything and often the Government allows it. The island belongs to the Bahamian people. The Bahamas needs to invest in its people by making home and land ownership more affordable!

  • @Faithevangelism
    @Faithevangelism Рік тому +2

    Wow!! I am shocked. As a Bahamian I can say that there are a lot of private investors who purchase properties in the Bahamas and do nothing with it for years. I hope and pray that something is done to redevelop Treasure Cay,

    So very sad, watching these videos of a wonderful place we called home, for over 30 years. It may, one day, be properly developed....but it will never, ever be the Treasure Cay we, and so many other TC home owners, really knew. It will always remain our piece of paradise.

    so, for lack of sounding ignorant here , how can someone buy the islands that other people have already purchased land and homes on? I understand the more desolate islands but this one is more densly inhabited. Can you explain that process to me. i thought about moving to the Abacos in the future or Eleutheras, not sure which yet. maybe Grand Bahama because i do not know how to drive a boat yet that area is close to all supermarkets. Also, which Freight shipping company did you use to ship your furniture from Florida to the Bahamas where you are? What are the standard pricing for something like that. I'm in Florida as well so shouldn't be too hard.

      @@NickOlinde I hope so too. I'm retired now and living in Marblehead, Ma. I'd love to go visit my old stomping grounds again one of these days. I'm most shocked by the beach erosion. Remember, I started going there in 1970, and was last there in 1991. There were no beach barriers. It was miles of wide pink sand beach as far as you could see. I used to run on the beach, and often had a Ray follow me. If I stopped, it would also. Sometimes daily. Thanks for evoking these memories for me, Nick. Take care. David Howell.

      I would have loved to have gone to Treasure back in the early days! My family started going in the late 70s on their various when my mom was little. I am sure that y’all had to have run into each other at some point. That is awesome about the ray too. Mother Nature is absolutely unreal when left to her own devices.

    There are a lot of empty lots that have driveways and foundations. There are quite a few private docks not in use , which would probably cut into a marinas slip income. How many people left and didn’t return after the hurricane?

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  7 місяців тому

      Yea, there are some still some properties that have not been touched or just had the house demolished and left everything, but that is getting better. Things have even changed a lot since this video was posted. Treasure Cay always had a ton of canal lots and private docks so the marina never relied on homeowners on the canal for revenue. They relied on beachfront owners (who dont also own canal lots) and then people passing through who are not owners. Quite a few people left and have not come back, however their spots are filling up with new people. A lot of people are buying on Treasure right now.

    Hi, wow, how devastating. Is tourism encouraged or does it contribute to hardship? What entices folks to visit? What keeps them away?

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  10 місяців тому +1

      Tourism is absolutely encouraged!! It is easily one of the most peaceful relaxing places you will ever see in your life. What entices people to visit is the beach, the boating, the fishing, the nature, the weather, etc. several years ago Nat Geo named the Treasure Cay Beach the #3 most beautiful beach in the world. It is STUNNING!! And the areas main draw is definitely the boating. It is a hotspot for the Florida crowd to bring their boats over for a weekend or week and island hop. Many people buy boats to just keep over in the Abacos so when they fly on they have one to use.

    I just want to cry looking at this. This was my favorite place in the world. I can’t believe what’s going on! Are any of the restaurants planning to rebuild? Like coco beach or Treasure Sands? How about the grocery store? Is there a place to rent golf carts anymore? I want to support Treasure Cay by coming back but none of the amenities that I need seem to be there. Is Florence and her family back? This is horrible!!!

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  Рік тому

      Flo's bakery is open. The mini mart in the same shopping strip as Flo's is open. The liquor store is open. Bahama Beach Club bar and restaurant is open. Treasure Sands is slowly rebuilding, but who knows with them. The rest of the places are all under the ownership of Treasure Cay Limited so nothing is happening with them until something happens with the property.

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  Рік тому

      Treasure Cay has its little mini mart that has the basics. It is not a ton, but it does cover the basics. In depth grocery shopping has to be done in Marsh or Green Turtle. We usually just bring everything over on the boat or pick stuff up when we are already at Marsh or Green Turtle. Treasure Cay has a liquor store that is open and well stocked. Restaurant wise, the Bahama Beach Club and Flo's are your only options right now. Treasure Sands is reopening soon though.
