- She may have thought she was demonstrating how to make her favorite dish, but instead she showed what not to do in the event of a kitchen fire. Kelly Caron, 26, livestreamed making a steak on Twitch. Her cooking caused so much smoke, she set off the fire alarm in her apartment building. She ran out of her apartment screaming for help when there were flames in the kitchen. Kelly says she was in “panic mode.”

@@Akame4514 Oh god... You don't need a fire extinguisher to extinguish a cooking oil fire in a pan. Literallyall you have to do is put the lid on the pan or take anything else that covers the pan. That will take away the fires oxygen supply and the fire will immediately extinguish.

@Diana Mateo Your right, I fully agree. An important lesson to always remember.
This is a good lesson in 2 ways.
Lesson 1: What not to do when handling a grease fire
Lesson 2: In panic mode, even expert knowledge goes out the window. That's why you have to calm down when dealing with events like these.
She got lucky and I'm happy it turned out that way.
Facts! I had a similar thing happen in my early years of learning how to fry chicken. My gf tossed the kitchen towel at the fire and I am glad she missed. I just remained calmed, and turned the stove off, then got the flower and and poured it over the fire. After everything was good...then I proceeded to grill my girlfriend. Told her dont EVER try to put out a fire with a kitchen towel. Had it landed on the fire it would have been worse.
@@Mercenary-1914 actually a wet kitchen towel is great for putting out most fires other than grease fires, a wood or silicon spatula that you left on a burner that caught fire would be better extinguished with a damp kitchen towel than flour. Might want to clarify your "dont EVER try to put out a fire with a kitchen towel" to "a grease fire".
Expert knowledge that doesn't relate that much with the subject at hand. Yes, they get taught the overall idea that correlates to uncontrolled fires, but they don't train most engineers to fight them or at least how to react to them. A chemical engineer might've responded better.

In the Navy, I was at a firefighting school where they showed what happens when you handle a grease fire wrong. They had a big deep-fat fryer that was on fire. Then the instructor, in full gear while we were all like 40 feet back, threw a 3-gallon bucket of water on the fire. The fireball went up like 20 feet and there was actually a mushroom cloud from it, dead serious it was like a bomb going off. That made a big impression on me at age 18, I joined the Navy right out of high school.
We also learned that if you have a fire in the engine compartment of your car and a fire extinguisher, don't mess with unlatching the hood and all that, all you're going to accomplish is to burn your hands. Spray the extinguisher through the grill, works like a charm.

& what's even scarier is she never took it off the burner
Adrenaline is a heck of a drug.
She’s dumb
You’d be surprised what adrenaline does
@@mamawoo9383you're not supposed to touch it, the handle could be red hot causing you to drop it and put fire all over the floor, leave the pan where it is and chuck a very damp not soaking wet towel over it, it'll go out straight away.
Proof that just because you have a degree doesn't make you intelligent.
When you've never payed attention in school and you have to find out about oil and water the hard way.

She has a great future ahead of her.

Bruh eating the food my ex made was the worst, I would have to force dinner down while she watched me with this sinister smile on her face, when we were fighting she would make stuff like a pot roast in some Walgreens crock pot and I would have to come home after working in the Texas sun for 10 hours to chew raw potatoes just to clap cheeks. I was embarrassed when she would take pictures for her snap stories, I would always think “Who told you to keep pursuing this”
