Is there anything you two can't do? I love how you come up with an idea, determine that it's beyond your current capabilities, then source the educational content required to figure it out, and then go and do it - all successfully! Simple Amazing!

“Ambition Strikes” is a perfect name for your channel. Most people start a project and realize they don’t have the skills for the job. You two seem to have a willingness to learn and gather information that surpasses most peoples “ambition”. Thank you for the superb content.

For the anti rotation you should spring load it to reduce the stress. Thats how they do on track kits on ATVs kits. If you needs pictures or ideas I can take pics of my kit I have.

A hydraulic shock absorber (regular ole suspension shock) mounted horizontally from somewhere around the lower control arm (front) or front leaf mount (rear) would prevent the track units from swingling around like a pendulum and could be configured as limit stops if sized correctly and mounted properly.
Gas charged shocks could be used to counteract the counteract the drive torque as well. (More complicated on the front end as the forces on the unit reverses when in 2wd and 4wd, but honestly, this this is probably only gonna move in 4wd. )

I cannot believe there is so talented motivated people out there. I been watching since barndominium project and was not shocked or anything since I am a builder but that was only your newly acquired skill sets. I am especially amazed at Courtney. I have not been around woman like her who get things done and are willing to do hard work including my own wife. Women here all just sit around in comfortable home wearing brand name clothes and luxury bag watching Netflix and gossip about break ups. My wife call me to bring laundry up to 2nd floor while I was working down in the crawl space fixing beams and joist of our patio in blazing 95 degrees.

Great content you two. A suggestion for Boone... When we go camping we set up a "run line" at camp. Between two trees tie off a rope or twine 50-100 feet or so at about 8 feet high. Attach a 10 foot lead to this with a carabiner and attach it to the pooch. When we do this, it allows our dog to essentially have the run of the camp while still being limited to the camp. It's a lot more freedom for her and allows her to run as well. Just a thought. Cheers from Arizona.

How freaking cool! I was debating on buying a CNC table and seeing this has conviced me it's the right thing to do.
2 things to know with your tracked Jeep. (1) Take extra gas. Your mileage will be worse than you expect, around 3 mpg. (2) Your power steering will need a super efficient cooler or you'll boil your power-steering fluid and have to muscle it.
Fantastic job. You'll have to refine your setup and sell your CNC file to people who want to replicate this awesomeness!

Nice build. Might I suggest putting the track on a moving dolly, then you can roll them in to place without lifting them. Of course you need a jack to lift it high enough. Take care.

  • @leonhart2452
    @leonhart2452 2 роки тому +3

For the rear wheels adding coil over shocks from the slider skis up to the frame. You want to have the shock set to lift the front of the track if they lift off the ground. This may require mounting the shocks to the rear of the tracks. Once you figure that out, the front will need more to allow the tracks to turn.
    Looking very good.

The Trax are interesting and the real question is will they work to well so that you really get stuck. Leave 2 pairs of snowshoes as well as a small shovel in the Cherokee during deep snow use. Spending a night in the snow and digging yourself out is no fun. (don't ask me how I know)

I love the snow tracks idea. I had been contemplating that idea for about 20yrs, but I couldn’t find any plans for them anywhere. All I could find was pictures of them. I’d really like to find some plans somewhere just to give me an idea of how tall and wide I could make them, or even implement them on an ATV for deer hunting season. Thank you for rekindling that idea. Feel free to message me anytime. I might be able to help you with a project that you’re stuck on completing. Thanks again.

    Here's a technical comment.
You might want to mount the drive sprocket to the car first so you can torque the nuts easier.
The ones I've seen all use that procedure for safety.
    Love the video.
