the one thing about this channel is , the reviews are so real. it`s much much better than the more famous channels on UA-cam. I almost have watched all of the reviews and I'm telling you guys @driving Sport TV you need to work on your advertising because you deserve like 10 times more subscriber.
I bought this car in September in NC. IT has exceeded my expectations, with plenty of acceleration when merging, and I haven’t gotten less than 40 mpg (usually 42+)in mixed driving, checked my my own calculations, including interstate at 75 mph. It’s comfortable and easy to “live” in. We test drove the RAV4 and found it much less comfortable, less drivable, and frankly, uglier. We have a Chevy Duramax 2500 for our farm work. The front wheel drive in this car is fine for most regular drivers.
Regarding mpg, any hybrid will have difficulty getting good mpg on a flat straight road. Going down hill helps a lot in charging and running on electric. Also, what mode was the car in? If kept in Sport mode on a straight flat road, mpg will drop significantly. Even normal mode loses some mpg. Also, was car in Grade Assist which also adds some mpg. Regarding 0-60, that can be affected by the amount of electric charge available. A fully charged battery will provide additional torque which you can observe in the right hand screen. Straight gasoline accelerations will take longer. When ordering an Escape, invest in the spare tire, engine cover, and cargo cover. FYI- I own a 2020 Escape Titanium hybrid which cost about another $4K (before discounts) from the above tested SE. When driving locally at or below 55 mph, I easily get 45 mpg+. Interstate driving drops it to @ 36-37 mpg.
Nice video. I had the same color w titanium trim 2020 AWD Escape Hybrid. I really really enjoyed it. I felt it was built extremely well for the price point and was very comfortable. I hated the glare from the HUD- the plastic trim piece around the display door was mirrored on the windshield to the point I’d say it’s a safety concern. I didn’t like the AWD not showing any indicator that it was working/engaged. My biggest gripe was the engine sound. It was really loud and no matter what, always sounded like it was stressing out. The mpg is excellent and even in the AWD I would regularly get mid-40s in Colorado’s higher elevations. This should have been fords all electric vehicle vs. the mustang. It has so much going for it and the RAV4 always overshadows this better product by Ford. I ended up selling mine after 9 months for a Model Y (which comes with its own flaws at nearly twice the price). Also the RAV4 Prime, their PHEV is avail in AWD whereas this Escape PHEV is only FWD. I don’t get it.
1:11 This is not a "mild hybrid". It's a "full hybrid", and usually just called hybrid. It is no different than the Prius. But because this is a larger, boxier vehicle, you can't get Prius fuel economy in it.... but you can get close! Otherwise, good review!
I heard there isn’t an AWD plug-in hybrid version of the Escape for 2021 or 2022. There is however an AWD version of the Lincoln Corsair Plug-in Hybrid which I hope gets a review.
I got the 2020 Ford scape AWD turbo It has a lot of space inside It starts with remote And Ford application It’s super fast i get 26 mpg (my is no hybrid) It’s really good on technology and has a lot of safety’s I drove Mazda C5 and I felt the Suspension Solid, and sound system was very good, but space inside was no as big as the Scape. Great channel.
Hi, I’ve owned an Escape SE Hybrid since December 2019. Yes, the 0-60 isn’t great. But, I’ve had a better experience than his (the reviewer’s) time test would indicate. The 0-40 time is great (especially in Sport mode) and the torque right off the line is, as he said, really good. In other words, I easily beat people to the next traffic light and merge in ahead of them with room to spare. I’m one of the city, stop n go buyers. I traded in my 2006 Escape Hybrid for the new model. Our off-roading days are over, but still got AWD, because of the New England winters. My wife doesn’t like SUV’s; wouldn’t drive my old Escape, but she likes this new model. So, this lifted Focus works well for us.
Pretty much exactly what I thought. The last model looked like the last Focus. This looks like what the European focus looks like. I did wonder if I'd bought my Niro a bit hastily but these newer hybrids, with their larger displacement engines don't offer the real world economy. I think the Sorento hybrid may make these home market designs look silly in that respect too.
I think this is a great vehicle but, I can’t see purchasing this over the rav4 hybrid. Especially when a base model rav4 LE has adaptive cruise control, as standard.
@@gondorian1006 10% is pretty much tax, plus I value adaptive cruise control for traffic much more then saving another mpg or two. For me comfort is key.
Is that a Merkur XR4Ti on your t-shirt? I had one of the bi-plane models in the late 1980s - it was a damn pocket rocket. Thanks for the useful review of the Escape Hybrid.
The much vaunted RAV4 is a more expensive unit all around AND there are oceans of complaints about the inability to fill the gas tank completely which severly limits range and the battery drain issue which also has not been solved. Nothing is a slam dunk buddy.
Currently looking hard at a Bronco Sport Badlands edition... I have heard rumors that the Bronco Sport would eventually get a hybrid option. Do you think this power train would work or port over to the Bronco Sport easily, (meaning available within a year or two), or would they have to look to a different hybrid engine which would take longer to implement/offer?
cynical dude is wrong. I own this car (except AWD instead of FWD) and it's an amazing car. Considered RAV4 but it doesn't have real AWD (it's an eAWD system) and the Subaru doesn't even come close to this one.
The plug in hybrid very little protection underneath and this type of driving.can damage components. A few comments from People on forums when a Rock come up and rips underneath
Prime and Escape Hybrid are different vehicles dude. The Ford Escape PHEV would be a better comparison. And even then the Prime may still be faster so you can get to Costco a light or two faster.
Sadly very few companies have made a profit catering to enthusiasts. Largely they sell tons of mediocre crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks to they have enough profits to throw us enthusiasts a bone every once-in-a-while.
pls sir pls do the tug of war between hyundai palisade or drag race between its all rivals, pls and u will get famous because only this is not happened in any YT channel, pls sir
Ford needs to work on improving its designs...way too basic, way too simple, way too old......time improve Ford, common now you been there before any of these companies ever existed, why does your designs show too squared, too simplistic, too bare boned, ? common Ford....you can do better

The unused space under the rear cargo area is for the optional spare tire

I'm hoping for a review of the AWD hybrid since I'm in the market for a crossover but still a great content.

Great review but shame on Ford for not providing you an Escape to put through your test on your own course.

*I mean, if they're getting rid of their sedans, wouldn't you think they would make their CUVs better?* 😍👍
They did
Wow I'm disappointed in the 0-60. It would be even slower here in Colorado. Great review!

I have a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD and it's awesome, when are you gonna get a AWD model to test? Ford's intelligent AWD works very well.
May be boring, but they'll sell more of these than any other trim so very applicable - appreciate you guys heading down to CA to do this review!
I dont understand why does I have deep snow and sand modes when it's a fwd the only mode it should have is normal and sport can someone explain
I hope your Outback XT w/ AT tires video is coming soon!

I enjoy your professional car review , very informative. Thank you sir.

Also the RAV4 hybrid significantly faster, more cargo space and much better reliability and resale value.
is there a chance that you'll be able to test the AWD Hybrid? Hopefully the AWD Hybrid drivetrain could exist on the Bronco Sport too.
A Focus Active is a lifted focus 😅
This is an ”Escape”. 🙃
The regular EcoBoost escape is very capable seeing as it shares bronco bits...
🤣
I still can't find one video on the AWD capabilities of the new Escape. I sure was hoping.. lol Thanks for this video anyways.
Yeah, we’re hoping to get a Bronco Sport soon, which is a very similar system. (It’s a rebadged Escape)

$33,085 It's cheap price.
If selling this car in Thailand, price will be $50,000 USD
Wish this was the AWD in the mountains
My daughter has a 2018 Grand Touring CX5, non all wheel drive. Lives in LA and clearly doesn't need it.
At 9.30 where is this road? Kinda wanna go there

Furtive glance at instruments..29.2 MPG..uh oh. I always add an expensive sunroof in all my new cars and then….never use it, not even once.
Were you out near Afton Cyn Rd with this vehicle on Saturday? I was behind an Escape just like this one heading towards I-15.
Nope. We filmed this piece about two months ago. Could be another journalist with the same car, however.
@@drivingsports oh darn. Was hoping it was. I watch your videos all the time. Love your reviews!

you are really right!...this is a leafted focus ;)
Hey are you calling my Forester slow? Lol
Yes. 😂
@@drivingsports but apparently faster than a Ford Escape Hybrid! Nope that doesn’t make it sound any better.
I like the inside actually nothing fancy but also nothing trying to be what it isn’t. But I Love me an traditional speedo call me old school...
Love your channel but once i heard fwd.. cvt.. i stop watching 😅 so sorry 😆 looking forward for your next review 👍😊
All good, thanks for stopping by.
You realize how many vehicles have and will have CVTs in the future?
@@iamhassan9943 not my current and future AMG at least..
😁😁 just kidding
Rather have wet-type DCT if not traditional torque converter auto

CVT is best for scooter tbh not for cars.. ✌😊
Rav4 Prime is way faster 🚙

Didn't need to hear that this vehicle may not be right for me. I think the Rav4 looks overdone. Like it's trying too hard to look macho and rugged.
Love the video, Hate the FF/Hybrid Ford.
Dude, you miss FOCUS
An ordinary car for ordinary people. That centre console looks so dated and so american. Totally unimaginative inside-out.

I hate panoramic sunroofs. Would not buy a car with one.
All the technology is in there . . but the day - night mirror is manual
And I prefer that. I've never had an auto dimming mirror work properly on any vehicle, ever lol
You have to step up to the Titanium trim.
Never buy Ford and GM. Holy crappy transmission die in 60K miles....
