Hear me out Ava, most Christmas traditions are nicked from European pagan holidays that the church nicked for their own purposes. Without the story we'd be celebrating Yule.
Myrrh is an embalming fluid. The three gifts represent three stages of Jesus' life; Gold for the working carpenter, Frankincense for the preacher and Myrrh for his death and preservation.
I’ve only watched the first 7 mins and I can’t believe that a school wouldn’t teach RE festivities like Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah and Diwali. I’m in my mid-20s, not religious and I went to a C of E primary school in the middle of rural midlands England - we celebrated all festivities including Eid and we were taught about all mainstream religions by local worshippers (dependant on which religion we were learning about) and our RE teacher. Like sure we had creative nativities where we’d sing and Joseph and Mary get monologues but like we didn’t have shrimps and that. I get they’re children but we’re teaching them people’s beliefs and human values you get out of faith. Like - let’s celebrate our diversity not hide from it. Also that C of E school had only one Sikh, one Muslim and two Hindu students out of 300 students. Like - our teachers could have just focused on C of E festivities but if anything they showed how committed our teachers were to educating us about our society and about how we should embrace each other as a community. Let’s embrace one another through the fables of faith not through fictional adaptations with unnecessary characters
I’ve been watching this podcast for over a year and this is the first time any of you have name dropped music I’ve heard of, shout out to Black Pumas tho
At the end of the day, Oli is Laura's boss. Employment contracts from HR at an organisation like PolJoe will likely have a clause for expected conduct outside of the workplace. If you're having a party that is likely to get a bit messy, there's no harm in inviting your colleagues that have no authority over you, namely Ed and Ava in this circumstance. However, inviting your boss, namely Oli, is ill advised. If Oli sees behaviour that doesn't fit in with conduct, he will be expected to do something about it after the fact, and if he doesn't, he himself can get in shit. It just makes more sense, given Oli's relationship to the others, that he isn't there. Of course, its possible that the reason has nothing to do with HR and conduct at all, and I'm just chatting pure shite. I'd say HR concerns is the most likely answer though.
@@Jasperyeahhh thanks for the explanation. I forget that Oli is the boss and the implications that that has because they sort of just seem like a group of mates.
I know it's only recently become a "trend" but we've been "splitting the G" or underlining the name (depending on who calls it) since they started printing the name of the pint on the glass, that redditor needs to keep their opinions to themselves or get out more
Regarding nativity. I find it inconsistent to be fine with folklore like Santa Claus being fine to change without us teaching kids about the stories it was originally based on like Sinterklaas or that he’s red cause of Coca Cola, yet you insist the nativity story should be treated as some static, dare I say historical accurate fact, to recount… Why draw the line there too and act like it was an original story, its not. It borrowed elements from various different older folklore stories from other cultures and the only reason its celebrated in December is because of the pagan traditions. This clearly reeks of ‘its my religion so do it my way’. I say its just how the folklore is evolving, let their be prawns there.
Ava going off about nativity pissed me right off. Sorry but keep telling the story that is the origin on the holiday. Christ wasn't the original story of the holiday, Christians have already erased the actual history of the holiday. Yule. It's Yule, the rebirth of the son god and the end of the darkest part of the year.
put ava in charge of finding parts for 100kids in a nativity play. then you'll see why prawns are involved....also, the prawns are just as authentic as the rest of it. its all a load of...also, stories evolve, the christmas story is a plagarisation of a lot of previous stories it was adapted from, what an odd position to take on this.
@scallamander4899 it's young people that make up the majority of UA-cam creators and young people tend to lean left. Most of us have not seen what happens when a Labour government gets into power (it's not good)
@@scallamander4899 I would rather libdem or ideally Reform because the Tories in fight to much. But Rishi did actually leave the economy in a good state! Sadly people were too angry about previous performance and voted for labour instead just to say f u to the Tories
Four pack of Madri and a single tube of Pringles. For Christmas. Everything alright over there?
😂
Very demure
In other news.. my daughter just opened the last window on her 'One Direction advent calendar, and Liam Payne fell out.
Merry Christmas.
Freddy Quinne is that you?
Already a month old 😅
@dh1380
Yet the Christmas day twist is totally original and top comment on the thread.
I believe you don't get out much.
Poor taste mate

Merry Christmas, everyone! And congratulations on your new flat, Laura!
Ed’s favorite Xl bully is Frank Sinatra.
Merry Christmas to all those who work at PoliticsJOE💙
Although I love Good King Wenceslas - you should have done ‘We Three Kings of PolJoe are…’

Merry Christmas Poljoe!
i cant believe Ava spilt her Madri all over the greenscreen. Shocking.

Three narrators makes so much sense.
Ollie taking cover when Ava spilt the Madri, good job he didn’t have to go to the Somme UWN
Madri and Pringles. This will be a good one
Day 85 of asking for a production team microphone.
This episode is desperate. Related, really enjoy what you do I think it's excellent.
Ava left Oli hanging for one minute, ten seconds, which has to some sort of record.

Not the Madris 🤣
Merry Joemas everyone.
Who is ‘who must not be named’?
Can I recommend fellow punters play back The Can Incident at 0.25 speed? Quite the most delightful experience I've had this Christmas Day.
Ollie and Ed are so good looking. Cheers from your friends in America!
Back in 1964 in Leeds, I was Joseph and Jane Vardy was Mary. I didn't believe in it then and haven't changed my mind.
Ava opening that can was pure ASMR - Audio Sensory Madri-dian Response
Why was Ollie not invited to the housewarming? Am I missing something
