    I just bought 2 crib sizes of 100% cotton no Skyrim and not pin punched. I didn't read reviews and many said it's easily torn. I can't find any videos about this type of batting. Most are pin punched cotton.
    Need it all 100% for microwave and oven mitt/pot holder projects.
    But since it's not pin punched I don't know how well it will work. Many reviews said it's loose and easily torn and put holes in it. Ugh

      My biggest advice would be to quilt it pretty densely, that way it’s less likely to tear in your finished products. Good luck!

    New to sewing thanks the info. I want to make a baby blanket. Is polyester batting a good choice for the blanket? I know I need to prewash the fabric. So I need to prewash the batting?

      Low loft poly would work well, but I’d recommend a cotton/poly blend for a baby quilt! I never prewash my batting but I do toss it in the dryer for about 20 minutes to get the wrinkles out. Good luck on your baby quilt!

    Which one is slightly stiff for pillow flanges?

      They all have some level of thickness to them, so I think any batting would be more stiff than going without it. I'd try a poly/cotton blend with scrim

    I had heard that quilters dream batting is a step above hobbs and warm and natural. I have not had the chance to try it yet. Do you feel the same way?

      I do think I prefer it over Warm & Natural, but I think it's about the same quality as Hobbs! :)

    Is the polyester batting warm? Is it durable for daily use? Can it be put in a home washer and dryer?

      Hi Autumn! Great questions! Poly is not as warm as some others like Wool or Cotton, but it is durable & can be washed & dried. I hope this helps!

    Do you wash your orient blend before using it?

      I don’t ever wash any of my batting before using it. I just put in the dryer to release wrinkles and then it’s ready to use!

    What does it stitch 8" apart means?

    • @HomemadeEmilyJane
      @HomemadeEmilyJane  2 роки тому

      That is referring to quilting density, you want your quilting stitching to be no more than 8” apart between them, otherwise the batting might not hold up over time. Generally speaking, the more densely the quilt is quilted, the more sturdy it will be.
