    Hello how are you? Your channel is very interesting, it helped me a lot with my Aira equipment. Do you know how the sample rate drops from 96 to 44.1 in Roland TB3? Thank you so much.

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  11 місяців тому +3

      Hi @MartinPivettaMusic
      The Roland TB-3 is fixed at a 96khz sample rate when recording the unit via the USB connection. And as far as I know there hasn’t been any switches added via patch to allow this to be dropped to a lower sample rate.
      You need to compensate for this in the computer and software that you are recording with to ensure that the sample rates are matched between sending device (Roland TB-3) and receiving device. If you do not do this then you will get weirdness in the recording as items drop out or miss the sampling frequency loop points. Jon

    hello, thanks for the channel, I'm already registered ;)... my tb-3 decalibrated the screen... I already did the process steprec with realtimerec in option four, but it didn't work... do you have any suggestions on how to solve it? I already did the reset, but what seems to me is to be dealing with just a soft reset. Do you know any way to do a hard reset? thanks

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @Hadronic
      When you say you selected option 4 did you then undertake the 27 (I think) steps that recalibrate the screen. It is quiet an in-depth process and if you don’t do it correctly you have to start from the beginning again.
      If you have done a factory reset and a screen recalibration then I am afraid you might find that the screen interface is damaged and needs a service tech to move forward. It could be a simple fact that the connector between the screen and the logic board has become unseated. Or something more sinister like a failed screen membrane.
      Sorry I can’t be of more help. Jon

    Hey there! I finally got to dig into my TR-8 and I'm having a blast learning it hands-on. Not sure what took me so long, but your videos helped! The TB-3 is going to be my next one in the AIRA line that I'll learn to use. Is it true that patterns generated on the device can trigger sound on other external instruments? I'm intrigued by that possibility. Hope you are well and thanks again!

    Hi there, thx for the informative video. I bought my tb3 second hand and I’m very happy with it as it’s very user friendly. I have one very annoying issue however. When playing it it often goes to the user patch, there a 15 U patches that are all empty which then makes that the device falls still whilst playing in a certain bank. Any tips how to get rid of these empty U patches? It sometimes doesn’t allow me to play it and switch between patterns, pls help. Could you also elaborate on why you use the C1 setting as my midi cable also doesn’t communicate with my tr08. Thank you in advance

    • @Beathaviour-v4y
      @Beathaviour-v4y 2 місяці тому +1

      Could it be these patches were uploaded with external software and blocked on certain patterns? If I change the patch it plays the pattern but after changing between patterns it goes back to these U patches. I would preferably delete these keyboard options so it starts with A

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  Місяць тому +1

      Hi @Beathaviour-v4y
      Yes the user patches are there for you to store your custom patterns into. The concept is that you then string these together using the sequencer.
      Firstly have you tried a factory reset? ua-cam.com/video/N4DuLp7OG5s/v-deo.html. That will clear out any remaining entries in the sequencer.
      Are you running a MIDI setup that potentially is sending CC or program commands that could be telling the unit to swap pattern banks.
      Hope this gives some pointers. Jon

  • @5starstudiomedia

    Hi there thanks for posting this very helpful video. On my unit I'm unable to save, copy or delete any patterns. It seems as if it's in a 'locked' mode of some kind. For example I followed the instructions to a 't' in deleting a pattern (3-1) which did work. But as soon as I go to different pattern for example pattern '3-2' then return to the pattern I deleted '3-1' the original pattern returns. Maybe there is an issue with my unit, not sure. What do you make of this?

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  Рік тому +2

      Hi @5 STAR STUDIO
      Firstly thanks for the feedback on the video.
      My advice would be to backup any patterns that you have and want to keep and then do a factory reset. I have experienced similar issues where the Aira or Boutique instrument just randomly doesn’t perform as described or expected. Performing a factory reset, normally fixes the the issue. Jon

    Great video, thanks for the tips, I'm having trouble sending midi from my TB-3 to my Behringer Poly-D synth, so I want the synth to play the acid style bassline from the midi but have a lot more control over the actual sound thats coming out, I have the synth audio out sorted just struggling to get the midi to play into the synth. Any clues? Thanks again

      There are two things that spring immediately to mind:
      1. The TB3 by default is not listerning on MIDI channel 1. So make sure that the Poly-D is transmitting on the same channel that the TB-3 is listening.
      2. Ensure that the Poly-D and the TB3 are synced to the same clock source.

    Okay, so how do I actually get the sounds it produces to go inside a DAW like FL-studio to then be able to record what I have been creating? I know I need a soundcard, but which cables do I need and how do I set it up in FL-studio? Can't seem to find this exact instruction anywhere.

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  4 роки тому +2

      To be honest it is probably not the DAW that might be your issue here. Personally I have never used FL Studio by Image-Line, but most DAW use the same style of interface.
      Once you have got the TB-3 drivers installed on the PC or MAC and plug the USB cable in, two channels of audio should be visible on the audio inputs.
      You should be able to route these audio inputs on the DAW and record them.
      Alternatively, you can plug the outputs into an audio interface and pick the audio up that way. Jon

    using tb 3 is it possible to change bass line pattern not from presets included but by writting the pattern by ourselves when playing live at the same time having variation in melody?

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  3 роки тому +1

      Hi @MarceaN
      The simple answer to your question is yes you can play a new pattern into the unit while it is in play mode. There are two ways to do it;
      1. Step mode
      2. Real Time mode
      Personally of the two step mode it the better way to do it. But both are to be hones rubbish. The unit plays best with presets and then using the preset banks to swap patterns and tones as required during the set. Jon

    Great video. Thanks
    Can anyone help me please.
    I’ve got my tb3 set up in logic and it’s synced so when I press play in logic it starts.
    However what I really what to do is to have the tb3 start only when it’s trigger my a midi note in logic. How is this done? It must be possible but I can’t work out how.
    I basically want a pattern to be triggered in the tb3 only when a particular note (say c1) is held down in logic. This is how software based step sequencers work
    Thanks

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  3 роки тому +1

      Have you subscribed? :-)
      I have to state that I am not a Logic user so can answer the specifics of your question. Maybe someone in the community can help you out.
      So the first thing that springs to mind is have you or can you stop logic sending the Start / Stop Control Change (CC) message. That will stop the TB-3 starting.
      The second part would be to assign the Start / Stop CC message to another function.
      Hope someone else can provide the specific steps for you. Jon

    Can I set the TB3 so that it only takes over the tempo in the midi channel and also sends it on? Without that the internal sequencer starts.

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  3 роки тому +1

      In the MIDI standard (1.0) the clock signal is independent to the channel that the instrument received note and other data on. This means that the instrument can receive data on any channel and still remain in sync with the MIDI implementation.
      Although on some older instruments seem to need the receiving channel to be correctly set to mach the send channel of the clock source.
      If the TB3 is set to external clock then the master clock will take precedence. If set to internal then anything connected to the out of the TB3 will receive the clock from the TB3.
      Hope this makes sense. Jon

      Thanks Jon. But my problem is that the sequencer always starts when I start the Beatstep Pro. The TB3 should only take the pace off him. Due to the fact that the sequencer always starts, I can hardly use the TB3 live.

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  3 роки тому +2

      Hi nadeharry.
      I have had a chat with a few people I know that use the AIRA equipment and neither can point me to a set of key pushes that disable the MIDI command for starting and stopping the internal sequencer.
      One also pointed out that there is no way to stop the Beat Step Pro sending these commands either. I though this was a little weird, but after a bit of googling there are many references to this also being an issue.
      One suggested that there use to be MIDI hardware devices that you could put into the MIDI streams that would allow you to stop these type of command, but none of us could find any in the quick searches we did.
      Sorry not a good news story on this configuration I am afraid. Jon
