A bottle of Jack, a Churchill length cigar, a torch and/or zippo lighter, a classic Game Boy with Tetris in it, and a pocket full of bass picks. That's what I want buried with me
The distillery makes their own sugar maple charcoal, you can buy whiskey in Moore County at the Distillery only, so if you visit the famous distillery you can by a bottle there. When they make their sugar maple charcoal they use distilled alcohol in its purest form to start the fire in order to produce the charcoal, so they don't get the petroleum taste. A bottle of Sinatra depending where you buy it is around 200.00. But yall did a good job for most part.
You guys should do better research. Nathan Nearest Green, Uncle Nearest around Lynchburg, made to whiskey. Because there are no pics of Nearest Green, the man sitting to the right of Jack in his official photo is George Green, Nearest Green's son. Nearest is mentioned almost 50 times in Jack Daniels official biography. Nearest Green was the 1st black master distiller in the US
Reggie, a sincere thank you for passing on this knowledge, and inspiring me to become better versed with this history. I should know this by now! Can’t wait to share with my pops!
Also Jack Daniel's cannot be classified as bourbon due to going through a charcoal filtering process prior to being barreled. It isn't that they want to, they plain can't.
Other things they got wrong the distillery can sell you Jack the catch is it has to be shipped to an address outside of the county. The distillery was registered in 1866 thus making it the oldest distillery in the USA not 1875 like they said. and while Jack did win gold in 1904 they also won in 1905, 1913, 1914, 1915 , 1954, and 1981!
Outside my hometown, here in VA, there's a man who was buried standing up. He wanted to look over the fame he worked and lived on and for. He's on top of a hill, which you can see his tomb?, from the road. It's said he was put to rest with a shotgun and a fifth of whiskey... Not sure what brand. The trees and brush have been cleared, so that it looks like a large wedge down the hillside, with his grave at the peak. He's been up there on that hill for decades. Maybe getting buried with your favorite booze, is more common than you'd first think!
Dec 2018- I took the tour of the JD distillery. According to the tour guide, Jack Daniel ran away from home when he was 7 years old... very cool tour!! Highly recommend. You can also buy bottles in their gift shop.
I took the tour of the Jack Daniels distillery last summer. They are now allowed to sell whiskey on the premises. I don’t know about in the rest of the county
I as an India National, was fortunate to have got an opportunity to visit the Jack Danial factory at Lynchburg TN in 2018. Bought two bottles from the factory. Lynchburg county though dry, one could buy the whisky from the factory.

1:00 wrong its a tennessee whiskey because the charcoal filtering is legally an additive since the whiskey gets alot of its color and flavour from that. keep in mind the filtering takes 3 days in total. bourbons cant have any additives. which is why it a tennessee not bourbon.
@@jamesdeshotel949 Yeah, it's a little wink wink, nod nod. It used to be you could only buy one souvenir bottle. But a few years ago they lifted that restriction.
Jack Daniels is NOT a bourbon because it's charcoal mellowed... So legally, it is NOT bourbon because of that... The same goes with George Dickel for example... Not a bourbon, because it's charcoal mellowed....
The sugar maple charcoal mellowing (filtering) is one of the things that sets Jack Daniel’s apart from Kentucky Bourbon. That and the fact that it’s made in Tennessee and sourced from the local limestone cave spring water.
I've been by the factory in Tennessee. You can private label it as your own for late 4 figures. Just don't sell alcohol in Alabama and Virginia as they are government controlled.
You can buy a "COMMEMORATIVE BOTTLE" at the distillery. It's a sales trick. Magically, there are "several" versions of COMMEMORATIVE BOTTLES. I have done it.
Take it from someone who lives in Lynchburg TN. Jack Dainels is not a bourbon. Its made drop by drop through 10 foot packed charcoal. Also is made from a mixture of grains such as wheat, rye, barley and corn. Bourbon is 51% corn and has not additional flavors such as the charcoal for it to be a real bourbon. Sorry just a rant cause the distillery is the main attraction around here.
Um...no. You're adding stipulations that don't exist under federal law. Adding charcoal filtering doesn't disqualify it as long as it's 51% corn. Jack Daniels insists it's not a bourbon because it's good for the brand to be distinct. But under federal classification it's a Bourbon. This is inarguable.
Jack Daniels and his master distiller Nearest Green fought hard to survive in the whiskey business. Nearest Green winning the Gold Medal for whiskey was an amazing feat. It takes a whole company of experts from those supplying the wood for the casks, making the casks, and all the work the whole company provides to make one of the worlds best production whiskey. No production whiskey, well ya don't get no whiskey then.
It’s time Nathan Green get his credit. He was the man who taught distilling techniques to Jack Daniel. Green was a master distiller. Yet this African American man, is not known by many. While jasper Daniel got all the credit, and fame.
