    Helped me a lot. Same issue with no power. I didn't have a thermal camera but I could feel the heat from a tiny part of the board. Tested a few pins and shorts all over. That kind of repair is out of my league. Time to take it into the shop. 😅

    • @wild8528
      @wild8528 4 роки тому +1

      if I'm not mistaken, the previous alloy was lead free so he mixed it with leaded solder to lower the solder temperature of the new alloy, in order to do the job with less heat.

    • @blagzster6255
      @blagzster6255 4 роки тому +1

      I agree with Carlos, It's to mix in leaded solder to the unleaded solder that's used on the board during manufacturing. Its makes it easier to clean and prep the board and reduces the melting temperature required to re flow the replacement components.

    HI, have You had a situation with XPS 9550 that connecting touchscreen cable to motherboard caused the laptop to turn dead. Power button flashes during power on, but the laptop remains dead. Affter disconnecting the touchscreen cable from MB, everything comes back to normabl, just without thouchscreen. Have You got any idea, whether its MB-defect, or touchscreen film on the display? Thanks, Janusz

    Any ideas how to detect origins of shorted/blown SMD components? They are legion and markings on them often does not have nothing common with their real model names in datasheets. Particularly now I'm trying to find 3.3V voltage regulator L0H (or LOH) in SOT23-6 package (burned by friend due to mismatched PSUs in rush).
