Haha, totally. It's a paradox of strategy games especially I think. But having said that, I prefer to know how to break the game and choose when not to.
I love the settlement buying and selling mechanic, it's the one true improvement WH3 has over other TW titles, and it sure is an amazing one. Coincidentally it's also the most reliable and functional way to conduct diplomacy with the AI, while also being hilariously exploitable. I hope the never get rid of these types of exploits. Funny enough: Because selling settlements is the most reliable way to conduct diplomacy, Skaven are the strongest race for Diplomatic gameplay.
TW Empire had this mechanic and i it was great. Best Scenario i ever had was that my Native American and my Indian Ally AI traded one of their settlements, so we had Indians in America and Natives in India just to proof Columbus right. Its great we finally have this mechanic back, its perfect for shenanigans
Hey Mercy, on the topic of cheese, had an idea for unkillable slayers. Ungrim's trait 'Journeys end' will be buffed to entities over 50% health cannot die instead of 75% If you were able to stack that with a life mage, (borrow allied army with immortal life Mage) healing them constantly to the cap so that they never die. Full damage output for all that time. Getting the life mage would be the tricky part. Can imagine going against vamps or khorne with slayers that refuse to die would be pretty hilarious. Maybe throw in some allied zoats for the extra healing.
I already liked doing this with the walled settlement next to Ahzag's territory to get around 7k free gold (results may vary by difficulty) when I was about to declare war on him anyways. Ungrim wasn't a huge fan of it, but he gets over it eventually with the immediate war declaration on Ahzag.
This race is one of the most annoying faction mechanics they could have ever thought up for Kislev. Ties your hands from attacking an entire faction where every other situation like it in other campaigns just heavily discourages it. Not to mention how the opposing faction will just randomly generate progress points no matter how well or poorly they're actually doing. I definitely appreciate this video a LOT because otherwise I would have never bothered with the starting two Kislev Legendary Lords again.
I don't see this being something tolerated in a multiplayer game, as it would make Turn 10 last at least 30 minutes. That being said, if this works for every faction to generate money, it could be done on a much smaller scale to get ahead early against factions you were going to destroy anyway. That's if you can set it up before those factions declare war on you first. I'll have to test if that garrison exploit only works with Kislev or other factions as well. Thanks for the tip.
@@ZZuluZi actually screwed up while doing this, if you conquer the Volksgrad province, Hell pit, etc. You should be able to do it with every neighbor in empire
@@ZZuluZ Just don't have any treaties with the factions you screw over. AFAIK, there is no reliability hit to declaring war on a faction that you've given gifts to or traded a settlement to. The problem happens if you have a treaty with said faction.
@@MercytheMad Thanks for the cheesy videos mate. I've played Katarin multiple times and was surprised that we had that many regions by turn 10 lol. See you in a live stream
If you understand what I was dong in the video - that strategy still works, but I think you will have to work out how to apply it yourself - you can't follow it step-by-step anymore as some of the settlements have been switched around in recent patches.
Not really a cheat. Barely even an exploit. More like a cheesy way to make intended mechanics of the game combine in a way that CA definitely didn't consider.
@@Monochromatic_Spider How do you have that many settlements at turn 10? There is no way without cheating. The exploit is fine, but the title is click bait because to actually accomplish it without mods isn't doable.
@gregchezick7757 You get that many settlements by doing this: ua-cam.com/video/BhG7-pV1-hY/v-deo.html (will be a slightly different trade order when the new patch comes out, but same idea)
I would be really impressed if this was a REAL 10 turn confederation but just the same old "I don´t want to play the game so I cheat" exploit...have you ever played and beated the game without cheating, I mean, cheesing?
This was actually a save that was sent to me. This is someone else's game, but I don't think there is anything wrong with sharing it. I thought it was quite clever!
"Given the opportunity the player will optimize the fun out of the game."
This never was more accurate.

Would be fantastic if this feature was patched into previous total war games

Could workfor a bit,! they would hit heal cap eventually though.
"do do" hehe
Not funny >:(

Sounds perfect with the trade any settlement mod.
For Science! You are the man Mercy
For almost any other Faction I'd try this but Kislev is a struggle to play for me. Anyways hope other people enjoy it and well done for the analysis.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention :D

You can do it, but you need 10 min turn timer
Think it's the same for all factions (same race = keep garrison and garrison gets healed, different race and garrison gets deleted)
Creativity FTW
This can't be worth it though? Being unreliable for the whole campaign seems really awful.
EDIT: Right, Mercy actually talks about it!
You can do it w/o being unreliable

wont this downgrade all the settlemets multiple times tho? Certainly interesting
Yeah don't do it with settlements you have built up
Wait how does he have 18 regions by 10 turns?? Surely can't be on legendary or very hard?

sounds like it will take just as long as playing normal, lol.

interesting.... I guess
