They like people lil peep or anyone with lil in their name really--lil xan, lil pump, etc. They took the look not the culture. Everything is about the look nowadays.

honestly, it's always kinda been that way. Iron Maiden is called "The king of heavy metal" despite the fact that it's a lot closer to AC/DC then modern day heavy metal.
Sum 41 has the funnest riffs and solos in pop punk next to Bayside, shame they abandoned that signature sound and became all serious halfway through their career

There isn't a more fun, enjoyable, comradery-infused experience than that of a pop-punk gig. Nothing but love, without the need of any substance beyond the soundwaves. I love my core music, but pop-punk gigs are where it is at for a fun time. Then again, I am 35 at this point and am more interested in getting home uninjured to be ready for work the next week than worrying about McDojo karate masters in a pit or circle.
