      even the cops knew and were investigating a lot of high powered people in government and the BBC, apparently MI6 came along and shut them down. basically told to stop investigating or else.
      So if the cops knew and could say nothing a guy like Johnny had no hope.

      I agree, Mr Lydon's services to the British dairy industry are unparalleled. Without him I would still be putting margarine on my crumpets, however knowing that a forthright, outspoken and principled man such as John Lydon would never kowtow to market pressures and become a capitalist shill, we can all rest, safe in the knowledge that the sales of churned bovine breastmilk are so important that a former punk legend really should abandon all of the values he so loudly professed to hold dear in order to make sure we're all buying more fucking butter.
      Obviously, as per this video, he plans that there would only be "about five" people left to buy that butter, and there's only so much butter a person can eat so it's not like he's after the money or anything.

      The UK daily mail is a mainstream paper for average intellingence "middle" class readers. the "sun" for example in a uk paper aimed at people of below average intelligence but who often have lofty asperations of "success"..and vote tory or conservative. the "daily mirror" is aimed at people a bit more intelligent in my opinion, like below average to average but who are also working class like the sun readers but who appear to be less ruthless and not so "success and to hell with who get sin my way" attitude. they are usually labour voters. both of the gutter press press papers I have just mentioned are very selective in their storylines, in my opinion both papers are not much more that political propaganda brainwashing tools. lastly, there are papers like the independent, the guardian, for example. read by intellingent and above intelligent people who are also a varied lot, ranging from treehugger save the dolphin and the world types to doctors, lawyers, etc. I am not sure of the political differences in leanings, they are there for sure but harder for me to identify yet!. golden rule in you're town seems to be don't catch the bus!

    I was in Jersey a few months ago, and in a Chinese restaurant a handful of people over 70, all speaking in crisp RP accents, were sat around a table. My family and I tried to listen without being noticed, once we heard one say something about John Cleese being the most obnoxious man they'd ever had to work with... and then they mentioned Jimmy Saville... "of course, a lot was said at the time" a man said, before a woman hushed him up and warned him that people might hear...
    A lot was known. The MPs were at it too. There was, and still is, a class of untouchable people who are above the law in this country: an establishment drenched in worse secrets than this, no doubt. And this is sickening.

      Onmysheet That's bullshit. Many of his victims were the only ones who spoke out. The parents of the girl who killed herself spoke out. They went to police. They made allegations. They asked for investigations to be launched but they were fobbed off. Condescended to. Ignored. Often abused again. Called liars and gold diggers and sluts.

    I am sure I speak for many other kids of my generation in the 70s who didnt know why, for all his charity, something didnt ring true about Saville. Then as I grew older I thought may be his persona was an ironic statement which was way over my head. But after his death the rumours that started echoed perhaps the instinct I had about him - or they didnt suprise me.
    Kids, always trust your instincts and walk or run away, or scream for help- whatever it takes to keep you safe, even when your instincts are wrong. We all have instincts for a reason, listen to them, because one abuse is all it takes.

I later found out - much much later - that my instinct was right.

    Continuing respect for Mr. Lydon

  • @CrossCuntryFranco

    Time to make this clear, for those that didn't know: John Lydon was _never_ banned from the BBC. In fact, year after this, he did the Peel Sessions with PiL, PiL appeared on _ToTP_ playing "Death Disco", and did other appearances there (including the famous _OGWT_ performance with "Poptones") right up until PiL's hiatus in '92 or so, and Lydon would do the _Dancing in the Streets_ and _Seven Ages of Rock_ documentaries, in particular, the episodes where they talked about punk. Safe to say that he was close to the mark with Savile, but he was _never_ banned from the BBC. (A search for "PiL BBC" confirms this.) Of course, however, the bit with Jagger and Savile was trimmed.

      You're right there. Lydon is a lying cunt and this interview was not broadcast . The part where he mentions Savile anyway.

    • @andysmith1996
      @andysmith1996 2 роки тому +4

      Yep, it's just Lydon cashing in on the whole sordid affair, and all these people are falling for it and going on about how wonderful Lydon is. He claimed girls who'd been on TOTP had told him at the time that Savile had sexually assaulted them, but all he did was make these vague comments. Even if they had been broadcast, people would have probably taken them to mean that he was accusing Savile of being gay, not of being a child molestor. But Lydon even undercut his comments by saying "ain't I a bitch, eh, don't ya fink?" and laughing about it. Lydon later said that reporting Savile would have been seen as "grassing" then. Let that sink in. Not being seen as a "grass" was more important than trying to get a predator off the streets. There's a reason why Steve Jones said Lydon is a "total dick".

    • @andysmith1996
      @andysmith1996 Рік тому +1

      @CH1 Yes, it was a different time and Savile used that to his full advantage. He knew that being famous and connected to other famous people meant that his victims would be mostly too intimidated to say anything and wouldn't be believed if they did. Also, there was a lot more misogyny then and less concern about child abuse - many people would have just blamed the girl he abused as being "sluts". But none of that changes the fact that Lydon did not expose Savile and he does not deserve any credit for making a few vague comments about rumours he'd heard.

    What's telling about this clip is Lydon merely hints that he'd heard rumors about Savile, and that made the BBC nervous enough to ban him and never air this bit.
