Are we gonna talk about Pack on set pieces? Superb! And that assist for Lane’s first 👌🏻👌🏻
Pack is my choice for player of the season so far.
I would agree on first half performances, I am a Pompey fan since 1978 but Pack seems to get complacent in the second half, a lot of misplaced passes. Don't get me wrong, he is a class act here and if I could do what he does at my age, I would be singing from the rafters .
Wasn’t even a yellow let alone red, mental! Didn’t stop us tho, looking great PUP.
Yesterday at the game we were thinking there must have been something we missed that the officials have seen. But I just can't see how that's a red, even a free kick for that matter. Hopefully it gets rescinded as he looked really solid at the back.
I think the ref saw it as a two footed slide in with studs showing.
It was one of those 50/50 balls as Connor sold him short with his back pass so whoever was second in that race was going to be clattered.
Modern refs take the opinion that even if you win the ball, sliding in with studs up is dangerous play, hence the red card.
I think the lad wanted to really do well and show passion and desire rather than malicious intent.

I think the ref saw (in the blink of an eye) Tom slide in stopping on his arse with his studs showing and the Reading player rolling around clutching his shin and the ref made a decision rightly or wrongly doesn't matter. My honest opinion is that the FA will stand by the ref.
@@mark70rich I never understand that simping over the ref approach with "they saw it in the blink of an eye". It's literally their job and giving them an excuse of blink of an eye doesn't make mistakes acceptable. He has an assistant and they both make the decision. No studs up, won the ball, what decision was there to be made. They probably will side with the ref but that's only because the association will try to save face. I think it's a poor decision though tbh.

What a performance from the boys in blue on Saturday. 2 great goals from Paddy Lane and what a blinding bit of business from Pompey getting Callum Lang, a top class player who knows where the goal is. And let's give credit to Marlon as well for such a sublime assist for Paddy's first goal. But for me what was even more impressive was the 2 goals scored after going down to 10 men. A couple of weeks ago we would have struggled to hold on to the win with 10 but we are looking really good at the minute with the new January signings weve brought into the squad. Really do feel for Mckintyre though. Never a red card in a million years, I think their player made a meal of it really and I do think Mckintyre does get a bit of the ball. Referee got conned IMO, it might be worth appealing but that's up to John and the club to decide. Things are looking up now though and with the women riding high at the top of their league too hopefully we're in for a double promotion this year. We're Portsmouth City, we're on our way back. UP THE BLUES! 🔵 ⚪ 🔵

Bit concerning Bishop has missed 2 pens in consecutive home games now. Maybe Pack to have a go with the next one.

Best game i have watched this season for a couple of reasons, first we attacked them from the 1st minute and created more chances than any other game so far, secondly we never sat back and try and defend the single goal, its like finally we have a team that is capable of supporting Bishop in the one up front formation, the new lads have made a massive difference. Having ogilvie back is fantastic. this was against a top ten team so no push over but we simply made Northampton look ordinary. Quality performance, if we keep this up its automatic, but theres a long way to go yet! Oh and please appeal that stupid red, it wasnt even a foul.

Northampton manager claimed there was blood on the guys socks but no idea how that would’ve happened because McIntire didn’t make contact with his feet. Shocking decision. Ref and linesman were awful, no idea how we’ve been disallowed the goal for offside at 3 minutes when it came off the keeper.

Never a red, it’s a 50/50. McIntyre comes out on top with the ball and even turns his body so his studs aren’t facing the Northampton player. If anything it’s a yellow for the guy rolling round on the floor

Bishops pen awful exactly same as last mlss at fratton. Maybe take him. Off next one but great goals good football and great win but never a red card!!! Awful referee on that decision. Up the blues
Taking him off pens would be a massive mistake. Not going to do well for the relationship between Mous and Bishop and it’ll be worse for his confidence. He’s taken 8 pens this season and scored 6, we just need somebody in to work on penalties with him, restore confidence and get him to mix them up a bit, he shouldn’t be going bottom right every time. The red card though, shocking. I think the ref claimed there was blood on his sock but I’ve got no idea how that would’ve happened because their feet didn’t make contact with each other.

It's certainly up there isn't it? The Northampton goal was a beauty but, yet again, Norris stands still and watches it sail past him. That's half a dozen conceded this season where he has made no attempt to move.
