Love to see Reanimator! I've been working on a Jund list that ditches Crusher (along with discard outlets). It uses a suite of self-pitch creatures like Troll, Ent, Oliphaunt, and Street Wraith. Demonic Dread and Violent Outburst cascade into Exhume for better consistency. It can't exactly race the fastest starts with Dark Ritual / Lotus Petal / Dragon Breath, but it seems a bit more consistent and doesn't run out of gas so quickly.
I love this deck because it's a hoot, and I hope you can steal a trophy with it someday. So, I get that Crusher's efficacy drops off a cliff around turn 5, but all of the fast mana leaves zero ability to grind. To bolster resiliency, I would focus on crafting the perfect hand, hitting four land drops, protecting threats, and drawing cards. I would consider some of the following: * Ponder * Accumulated Knowledge/Frantic Inventory * Mizzium Skin * Looter Il-Kor * Radical Idea * Tolarian Winds
I think a version that uses Sneaky Snacker as an alt win con + sac fodder for flashback Dread Return would be worth exploring. I would make these changes: -4 Simian Spirit Guide -4 Rust Goliath -1 Dragon Breath +4 Sneaky Snacker +3 Striped Riverwinder +1 Fallaji Archaeologist +1 Contaminated Aquifer I could also see an argument for trying out a Gurmag Angler, since that's castable
Archaeologist could actually be pretty great here to dig for exhumes and fuel dread return. I think riverwinder could be ok but unsure. Idk if snacker makes that much sense as we can't recur it. I'll have to try some more!
I don't find Modern Age a very efficient card.. Maybe it would be better to try something that digs the deck more efficiently. It is possible that the Rakdos version, benefiting from more such effects and having better shell and side tech (looting/fling/siege smash), is actually more efficient. You might consider trying stinkweed imp for more gas. Nice try though.
I tried it a lot in testing and it was very underperforming. Seems like what you need is both dig and self discard so it didn't fix the cards in hand problem
also: i really believe not playing Putrid Imp in a reanimate shell is a mistake. Its just too good, especially with exhume and spellbomb effects on the stack

@kalikaiz TMA chapter 1 or 2 plus Riverwinder cycle gets you to 3 cards drawn in a turn, so the Snacker and Riverwinder are synergistic.

With dread return we absolutely need putrid imp (as a discard end to sacrifice)
And it’s nice also the serpent with cycling that has hexproof

Not necessarily faster, but more foil and deep analysis with modern age seems good. And analysis recovers the lost cards from the yard.
In round 3, first game, you can start by passing and going to discard.
Next turn, you Exhume via Dark Ritual.
we were on the play though so you're looking at turn 1 do nothing, turn 2 do nothing, turn 3 try to exhume which is kinda rough

There was a rakdos version of reamimator at Damnation fest in Pisa and it didn't do too bad but I cannot find the list
