@@Lalaoceanne interesting. im not that much familiar with him but i would imagine it’s bc of how the movie villainizes men against woman and praises & makes woman the front and center. and some people, usually men, hate that. same thing that happened with birds of prey.
The girl who played Ellie (the lead) is in Taika Waititi's "JoJo Rabbit". If you haven't seen it yet, I'd highly recommend it. Don't worry its not a romantic comedy. Great reaction as usual.
everyone’s saying how they didn’t like the last third of the movie bc of them trying to gain sympathy for the bad guys or whatever. i felt like it was pretty clear right after ellie said “no” when they asked for her help. it’s a mystery movie, it’s gonna leave you confused but also, it’s gonna have some twists. throughout the whole movie, the characters were constantly changing, especially sandies’ from what we could see from our point of view. i feel like they did that really well so i don’t really understand why there’s such a big hoo ha about the ending.
Exactly! It’s interesting to me that some people can’t fathom why a woman who was repeatedly assaulted and traumatized might snap, hurting those who hurt her. Sandie going too far by trying to hurt Ellie and Josh out of survival instinct doesn’t at all redeem her rapists.
After a few rewatches I think Eloise is a vessel to show Sandie's inner innocent soul as she was abused. I think that was the whole point of the mirror and swapping scenes other than looking cool, when Jack drags Eloise into that nightclub she screams "Leave me alone" and the camera pans back to Sandie, it's like Sandie is screaming silently for help through Eloise's voice. In the same scene the police officer tells Sandie to look in the mirror so she can see that she's good enough to escape this, her reflection being the innocent Eloise that's acting like the good angel on her shoulders trying to pull her back from this traumatic life.
everything about this movie is so beautiful! the visuals, the lighting, the clothing, the symbolism. the way that Eloise probably has schizophrenia most likely like her mom. the debate on whether the mean girl drugged Eloise (drugs make schizophrenia worse and her episodes get worse after halloween part). the way the mom only shows up at the beginning and end of movie when Eloise is in better mental state but her grandma believes seeing her mom is a bad thing. so much more!
I didn't feel like she had schizophrenia so much as can communicate with the dead. That's why she sees her mother and she was the gateway for the spirits of those men to reach out
“I think they deserved to die.” Definitely me 😂 This movie was so good. It amazes me how you never know the life people had when they were younger. But it’s nice to see the reality of how women lived back in the 60s unfortunately, some of this still happens today. But her being a serial killer and who the old man was was a great twist. I should’ve known who he was when he said “do you now” to Ellie at the bar. But yeah the movie kind of reminds me of “Monster” the real life serial killer. Anyway Anya never fails. The music was incredible and it was visually satisfying as well. I’ve watched this movie so many times 🤍
I love this movie, one of my favs. I just really wish I would've known beforehand that it would have a lot of triggering scenes bc I ended up crying at the movie theater and later otw to home again but it's ok... I love love love anya taylor-joy, I'll watch any movie/show she ever does
This was a very stylish and visually interesting shot film which is very much Edgar wrights style and anya Taylor’s joys performance was great as usual like she is in everything and yeah Matt smith plays slimy villains so well kinda funny taht yeah he was the doctor he’s my favourite doctor as well great to hear robsyou watch doctor who a man of taste as I expected also love that we got a different movie genre this week love these reactions keep up the great work
I think the reason why Sandie didn't accept it is because she knows he's a cop but shes already killed multiple people at that time. Remember when Eloise was trying to find a report about Sandie being killed? Instead of finding it, a lot of report about missing people were there.
@@ChaChaaa Most of what Lindsey said to Ellie can be understood multiple ways He knew Sandie became Alexandra, he also probably knew she killed Jack and maybe he knew about her clients being murdered by her but made a deal with her to keep all her secrets
@@axlm.808 maybe but Sandie probably didn't know that Lindsey knows all of that too because why would she trust a cop if the person she loved betrayed her (atleast at that time)

YES!! My favorite psychological horror thriller film of 2021! I saw the trailer, and at first that it was going to involve vampires or zombies roaming through the streets of London, but learned it's about an aspiring fashion designer finds herself in 1960's London, where she uncovers the dark side behind the glitz and glamour.
Y’all should check out the behind the scenes of making this movie. So much went into it and I feel like it hasn’t gotten the recognition that is deserves. It was so well done. Love your videos ❤
FYI getting from south London to North London is a nightmare depending on where you are and need to get, so sometimes having a car makes sense rather than trying to find a tube.
Big spoiler but full explanation of what happened since the dudes seemed unsure: Jack forced her to sleep with all those guys that became her victims later, Jack was legit trying to kill her before she fought him off. Then she decided to lure all her previous "clients" back to that room and do what she did.
i think you should watch ‘this is going to hurt’! it’s a british show, similar to fleabag, and it’s about junior doctors in the nhs and their mental health and it’s so eye opening :)
This movie was a mixed bag for me, on one hand they style and presentation of Edgar is without question but so many of the writing choices felt odd, especially with 2 twists and the moment where I almost believed they wanted the audience to side with the ghost rapists. For sure a weird and oddly sour film
I do think the last third could have been cleaned up a bit, but I don’t think they ever intended for us to side with the men. Sandie is a great representation of how one’s trauma can lead one to harm others, but she’s ultimately redeemed (at least to me). The men who harmed her are still the villains.
I wouldn't say they want us to side with the men Sandie killed. Death does not always equal redemption, and at no point were any of these men redeemed. They grew to fear Sandie in death, yes, but we're not given any indication that a single one of them has any remorse for how they treated her. I doubt they understood just why she wanted any of them dead. "She wanted this", after all.
Love that movie, and the twist at the end was a real surprise. Also the visuals are part of the magic of this movie, I will definitely be buying a copy on dvd.
Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Zuff! 👤 I was fortunate to see this one on the big-screen. And how lovely for this to be Diana Rigg's final film? #ReelTime #EdgarWright #LastNightInSoho
Well, this really is totally 180 from other Edgar Wright's movies but I really do like it. I know a lot of people don' like the last third of the movie and I agree it could be better but it is still so good. There is a moment of confusion as to which side are you on when the rapists ghosts ask for help but in the end, sorry, I am on Sandy's side even though her actions are questionable. Hm, could you maybe put in your polls Promising Young Woman? Another great and "stylistic" movie with a really heavy topic. And great reaction - as always.
The ghost asking for help wasn't there to make the men look like victims but rather to show their mindset even after death they still don't see their guilt
Love that you guys watched something with Matt smith! He’s also my favorite doctor alongside David Tennant. Would love to to see you guys react to house of dragon.
Lindsey was General Zod - you will bow down before me, both you, and then one day, your aires. He was brilliant in the Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon.
loved this movie for the most part but don’t love the direction they went in with the ending. it felt like they suddenly wanted us to sympathize with all the dead rapists for a minute and it was super weird to make sandie some villainous serial killer after making us sympathize with her the whole movie
I don’t think they ever actually wanted us to sympathize with those men, unlike Sandie. Her only wrong was trying to hurt Ellie and John, which only happened because she was so used to being treated like less than human and could therefore detach herself from caring about the harm of others.
I only got round to seeing this a few weeks ago and really liked it. Interesting that you guys thought of Soho as being in the US, whereas as a Londoner I automatically think of the location of this movie. I walked past the Toucan last night!
Random fact: despite the lights from the place next store being red, blue, and white, if something bad is about to happen it's flashing red. A warning. Like during the "Sandies death" scene with Jack "killing" her. Its flashing red right before and during it. Same with right before the bad parts of the dreams started. Edit: ELLIE IS SCHIZOPHRENIC.
I feel like a lot of people miss the fact that Ellie isn't psychic. She has Will Graham levels of empathy she inherited from her mother. She unalived herself because she couldn't handle it. Everyone has varying levels of empathy, but in an apartment like that where dark and ugly history is proven to be saturated into the walls, anyone can pick up on it. Think about how people describe their experiences going to Auschwitz. So many say they can't even finish because it's too much for them. Same basic idea.
Nope, Soho isn't "South Hollywood", it's an area in West London. "Soho" isn't short for anything, it's just Soho. There's also an area of New York City called Soho, but there isn't a Soho is California.
When I watched Don't Worry Darling last weekend, it reminded me of this movie: cinematography, score, acting and aesthetic on point and fantastic, but the plot is where the movie falls flat and disappointing. DWD's plot twist was more shocking to me than LNIS's but even with the plot twist, both movies' plots do not satisfy you and leave you with too many questions. Also, this plot is very ridiculous to me lmao
Yeah both have similar vibes and are kinda ridiculous but I feel like LNIS didn't leave as many questions unanswered, DWD had me questioning the logic of everything and the horror elements literally existed for the sake of being scary, being crushed against the glass, the black and white women, that girl banging her head against the glass...like alright it was eerie but why was it there lol. LNIS wasn't really scary mainly due to the fact that the ghosts were pretty cheap looking but at least it made sense with Eloise's spiralling insanity from being haunted.
probably, since she died at the ending. and throughout the movie Ellie was seeing ghosts but since she got more of an understanding of alexandra, she’s not confused or frightened
