For this shoot, I wanted to do something a little bit different. We went indoors to do some conceptual portraits with unique lighting, gels, etc. I chose this lens specifically for this shoot so I could focus on the concept and shooting at different focal lengths without constantly switching lenses. The beauty of the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Di III G2 Lens is the ability to zoom in and out and capture multiple different focal lengths without having to make your client move.
Even though we didn’t really take advantage of it on this particular shoot, my favorite feature of the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Di III G2 Lens is definitely the fast aperture. With the ability to go to 2.8, you can get some beautiful bokeh.
This lens feels so good in your hands; it’s really well constructed & sturdy. After being redesigned by Tamron from scratch, the image quality is so much more improved from the previous version of the 28-75.
The Tamron 28-75 is built with mirrorless in mind, with a fast, hybrid autofocus feature, eye autofocus, direct manual focus, in-camera lens corrections

Thanks, Eli! An old employee made this years ago and was happy to get to reuse it!

Hey I just got the R2 the second generation of this lens - and it does not respect the setting I input in your camera for AF track sensitivity & AF Drive Speed in video - if i set to slow on my 24-105 it gives me a slow smooth focus pull - on the tamron 28-75 G2 - it does the same sloppy low budget video camera looking focus stutter jumping in video no matter what the setting. Is the first generation 28-75 like this? Thanks!

May I ask you If you hear sometimes the motor trying to focus when you press it to the middle of the shutter button (especially when you are on 75mm)?

I owned that lens for a week and returned it and got the sigma 28-70 2.8 bec it’s much smaller and lighter (70grams) not sure if I noticed but travelling on a backpack size of gear matters.

Weight loss would be obvious since you literally returned a full Frame lens & brought an APSC lens (sigma 28-70 2.8). Unless you are using a crop sensor camera the lens is an handicap on full frame.
