Guys stop bashing this bassist. Sometimes as a bassist you have to play what fits the song to make it heavy, especially in this type of metal. Also he threw in some nice harmonies with the guitar and some nice fills during the softer part of the song. Yea I agree in this song the bass line isn't something as awesome as Cliff Burton or Geddy Lee would play but it fits the song. Not to say if I played this I would have made it much more flashy instead of just playing the root notes.
the one person who disliked this was either a drummer, lead/rhythm guitarist or a vocalist, not a bassist :L I'm a vocalist and a bassist so I love it :D
The phrase less is more really comes into play here, the line is heavy groovy and not to busy,it really fits the song so the guitarists ring louder, but yet has a loud enough backing to really aid the sound, you don't need crazy bass solos to be a good bass player you need, timing, rhythm and the knowledge to understand what the song needs despite your skill, even rush knew that sometimes you want to give a little room to breathe, thats not to say that busy riffs dont work but loud crashing cymbols and snares dont exactly work if your for example playing a song that isn't in 16ths all of a sudden the drums block everything else out and your music is just Noise, with no structure
this was so helpful thank you man.only problem i have now is gettin my bass tuned right.i got it to cgc but i cant get the bottom string to an F anyone have any tips or tricks for it?
@Conor2694 Or the person may play bass and not like the fact that this is the kinda bassist that is idolized now days. They may not like the fact that true bass talent from bands such as Rush, Red Hot Chilllies, Metallica *Cliff Burton* and so on are not mentioned as much while this is. This is root notes basically. that is it. True bassists like to variate from the song a bit without making it drift away from the song as a whole. Thats why bassists and me a *bassist* may not like this song.
@postmortemspasm my tuner wouldnt pick it up but i finally got it to sound in tune with the other strings.yeah it was super floppy.im using earnie ball hybrid slinkys right now, what should i get?
@RideTheRainbowTV exactly. I found a tab that followed the guitar melodies, I taught myself that, so instead of this basic pattern I basically play what the rhythm guitar plays. Makes it a lot more fun and challenging!
@perfectdisasterband I've never played guitar in my life, only bass, and that's only been recently. In addition, don't bother using such language on a bassline for a song that a large amount of people like. You could've made it less taboo by saying something like "this bassline could have been better" or something like that. kthanksbye.
Good one, but it's wrong at some places. In the main riff, the bass basically follows the guitar with its fills. At the chorus again, the bass follows with the guitars.
Whoa, REALLY basic basslines, guess it does its' job well in the song, I personally play the guitar parts of the main riffs, not just the root notes, ah well guess I'm just melodic like that.
The bassist can only play what the band's style permits him/her to do. BFMV has a style is a little to simple with the chord progressions for him to do much... It's kinda sad really, if the bassist plays more complex things people call him/her a try-hard, if they play simple lines they are considered amateur .-.
@RideTheRainbowTV perhaps but can be boring as fuck. Especially if you can do better. The problem is: most do it because its the most basic and all its needed to 'support' the band, but there are also shittons of people that simply cant do any better either.
2:20 many bass cover see this part as nonexistent

It wasn't the bassist playing this.. It was the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter..

WOOW Is Beautiful .... This Is The Heaven
There's some serious groove going on during the bridge
i love these tracks :)
Badass!
Oh God !
@ZombieNOODLE64 that's why you can't hear bass in some metal songs because it's similar to the melody not something very awesome(but i love bfmv ^^)

Can I use this bass track for my cover of this song thanks.
@HarvestYourDead Hmmm, you make a very valid point, I never thought about it from that angle

this is great stuff, if only there were some sheet music notation to accompany it...that'd be nice
be nice if they included bpm as i want to jam drums to bass and guitars master tracks. it's not 128 as the internet said this song is
01:13 and the party begins
@hydrobassist Why can't you get it to F? Is it too floppy? If so then you need bigger strings
this part at 1:00 reminds me on Disturbed's ''Haunted'' riff. ^^

@BassPlayerofThe909 those arent that special either however this is really basic, but sometimes thats all you need to do as a bassplayer.

Power slinkies and tell the tech to set it up for Drop C
nice
I love Jason!
This isn't Jason.. It's Matt!
how so you get a track of just the drums and bass with no guitar so i can play the guitar lead in talent show at school

@ZombieNOODLE64 sing and play it then. that way its fun! thats why i do
@Conor2694 Or the person doesn't appreciate the bass. :)
Def sounds better in the mix
I can't figure this out, it's too complicated... :(
@rasmuss25 Very true :)

Sounds like its in the wrong tuning.... idk maybe it's just me.

i love the band but crapy bass line and crapy tone
