  • I didn't want to spend an arm and a Leg on a wheel loader just to wreck it snowplowing. Then I heard Volvo has a brand called the SDLG. I've been in the Volvo factory and I know there quality. So when I heard the SDLG was part of the Volvo family- I jumped on it.

Certainly depends on how it's being used, loading rock all day every day it probably wont have a long life but a few hours a week pushing snow it will probably hold up ok. The big issue to me is its underpowered, just slip it into neutral to pick up the bucket of snow?? What's going to happen in the summer when you're running the a/c and trying to load stone? I would have taken that 68k and bought a good used deere.

For the cost of the cheap one it can be scrapped at the end of its working life and still be quids in from parts, fuel economy etc etc in comparison to the pro machines. Better than buying the Case for example and using it for its working life and selling it for the price of a wheelbarrow. volvo definitely doesnt manufacture those things. but china as a country makes foreign companies partner with local ones if they want to operate there. so the "big" ones get cheap labor, and the local ones get the know how for free. and, when the designing company stops making one product. ofthen the chinese company will start making it with its own brand.
it happens with this things. it happens with motorcycles as well. i remember working on a friends CFMOTO 650nk, and the fking engine is the same 650 twin as the "old" kawasaki ER6N.

Their snow lease program is where it's at. It actually cost us less to have the machine for the year than to rent a skid for 5 months during the winter. We decided to try one of the exact same machines last year, this year we got two more with the 2 yard snow buckets and will probably get another one or two next year. What made us try them is the cost. We couldn't see spending twice the money on the premium brand loader that will only be used to push snow, load mulch and rack up only 200-300 hours a year. I can run two of these machines with metal Pless plow maxx 10-16 for the same price as a 3 yard loader with a 16 foot standard pusher. Me and the other operators love them, they may not have the bells and whistles like a premium loader but what do you need other than the camera which stays on at all times a plus, radio and heat, They push snow just as well as my cat 420e backhoe. Only things that we would add would be faster road speed so we could drive them from site to site more often they top out at 15mph and a little more hp (74 hp so you don't need def) for our long pushes when we get heavy wet snow. We couldn't not be happier with our machines so far and our local Volvo dealer has been great.

I thought the fuel filter was more inside the engine bay, but I don't remember and don't care to watch again lol, but I had a tractor where there was some electrical stuff that was sort of near the PTO at the back. I was tilling one day and a stick or something must have shot up and severed that line. Never have I used that feature that kicks the transmission into neutral when you hit the brakes, I never switch the machine into neutral while raising the bucket either. If you charge a flat fee for a wheel loader and that little thing shows up with a big boy price tag you will find yourself out of work pretty fast. Have two of these loaders that run everyday at a stone yard. For the money a good machine but you get what you pay for. Not as comfortable for the operator as a more expensive loader, but get the job done. Bulky machine but once you get used to it not bad. Not bad mechanically, have 2000 hrs on both machines only issue so far is that the brake pads wear out quick, and fall out of the machine when they are gone, causing a hydraulic oil leak. great if you aren't going to use everyday, as the comfort off the more expensive machine is noticeable, but great to get the job done plowing.

It's always a gamble, but generally in the long-run a well designed machine still outlasts. It's a gamble with main-brand stuff too because sometimes they just happen to have defects and end up being money pits unless you have a really good lawyer.
In fact, at one point in time, China bought some American made diesel-electric locomotives (6,250HP each!!!) instead of having some Chinese company make them. At least here in the states, with good maintenance procedures, there are thousands of 40+ year old diesel-electric locomotives still in operation. They don't have a mileage counter (some new ones do), so it's hard to know how many miles they've done, but I'd guess like 20 million or more!!!
I know one historic-trust railroad that has a diesel-electric locomotive made back in 1939. It's not much, only 600HP, but it still works. LOL. (It's an "SW-1" with a V6, 2-stroke diesel!)

How much do you bill out for a skidsteer? How much for the loader? Does this loader do as much work as the big one? Seems like there might be a potential for the customer to be getting a raw deal if this wouldn't be able to work as efficiently?
