    Hopefully you sort out that exactly is the issue for the L/R channels for being unevenly balanced. Hopefully its just the headshell wires or the tonearm wiring, but thanks for giving a teardown and peek on the inside of a QFO.
    18:14 I found the pitch lever on the edge of the platter's mechanism's engineering with the pulley/belt very impressive and always wondered how they managed to mechanically figure that out.

      yes it was the main issue of faulty head shell wires ...

    Won’t water cause corrosion? Even if you dry it. I wonder if contact cleaner is better for this

    • @CJScratch
      @CJScratch  3 роки тому

      you can use rubbing alcohol if that suits you better ... as long as you dry the fader you will not run into issues

    You should get a grounding bracelet when working on the internals. Some might say it's not necessary but I have bad luck with shit so I usually do it. Plus the material your working on looks like it'll build up static easy.

      Yeah an anti-static bracelet is a good precautionary step to use some find it necessary. In the 20 plus years I have worked on and repaired electronics I haven't once shorted out a board with static electricity. I do appreciate your suggestion and i might invest in one in the near future.

    Great video, i always wanted to open up my QFO but due to lack of resources i never found the courage to do it. I'm happy i discovered your channel.
    Have you thought of adding an output to the qfo straight from the needle for timecode use? Would you consider it to be an easy task?

      i have never come across an issue while i cleaned my faders using dish soap ,water and tooth brush as long as the fader is dried completely. of course you can use IPA but even that has a small percentage of water in it .. this to me is the best way to get all the grease and build up out of the faders … thanks for your comment

    So there are only two versions of qfo? Silver with asts and black ‘le’ with normal pdx 2000 mk2 tonearm?

  • @FunkyRob
    @FunkyRob 4 роки тому +1

    I noticed that when I played a normal (non scratch) record on mine, I could tell that the speed isn't consistent. Just enough to tell that it doesn't sound right. I wonder if the motor is bad, or if the belt could need replacing.
