Love your videos so much! This came at such a good time. I'm testing a rapeseed and coconut blend in a 20cl tin with a TB14 wick, 7-8% high quality fragrance oils and it burns absolutely beautiful, with a g/p/h average of about 4.5 for the entire duration of the candle (on track with the recommended burn rate from the supplier).
It doesn't burn too hot, and the hot throw is great.
My one issue is that a few burns in (typically the 3rd or 4th burn), the wick will start to curve even more into one side, and the flame will be much more dim and low than all of the previous burns. This leads to a 'tunneling' effect where only a small pool of wax is burned and it doesn't burn across close to the sides. The issue resolves itself on the next 4 hour burn but still, I don't think this is good enough to sell. I do get to the end of the candles with just the 'safety' wax left after all of my 4 hour test burns, so at least the issue does fix itself.
This has happened to me for a number of fragrance oil tests with this wick, 20cl candle tin, and the same wax.
Is this cratering, or is it related to the wick being self-trimming? I tried out Wade from Black Tie Barn's 'twisting' trick for self trimming wicks and unfortunately it didn't seem to make any difference for my latest candle tests. This issue is happening again.
So I'm not sure if it's a sinkhole issue, or a self trimming wick issue, or neither? I've been using this particular wax for over a year, and while others say it can have sinkhole issues, i haven't noticed it except when I use a tb14 or a stabillo 12 in this vessel with this wax.

Great question. From your description, if the candle is safe and throwing well then I’d look past it if you can.
But… if it’s dimming and sucks, think about using a larger wick. Other things that could impact that are the container shape (how well it allows oxygen to the flame) and wax (they’re not all perfect).
Keep trying new things and then consider bailing on it if you can’t get it to hit right.

Think about changing the wick series, the fragrance load, or the jar (nobody likes changing the jar though).
      I’m glad the videos help!

I once put a piece of paper towel in the wax... the awesome flame eventually ignited the whole wax... it couldn't be extinguished... luckily, it was outside and my lizard brain joined forces with my thinking brain... I placed my cheap hibachi grill over it to starve the flame... situation was neutralized. All this to say "candle tunneling" is the safe alternative to over wicking.

I've been using the same wicks and wax (Cargill c3) for 20 years. I always measure the width of the jar, sometimes go up a tad. (I have 10 different sizes of ECO wicks)
I'm panicking because I sold a bunch. The ones I didn't sell, I'm using and they are tunnling
I'm feeling really bad for my customers, and I hope they contact me for a refund! Dang it!! This is the first time I made them in warmer and more humid weather.
The wicks are bending over. It's really weird. Any it's why?
