Yes indeed! That's a great point! A big automotive publication (can't remember which one) did a study several years ago which concluded that a 10-year-old Lexus LS430 was more reliable than any NEW luxury competitor! AMAZING! Thank you for the feedback and have a wonderful day! Brock Frady Flow Lexus of Greensboro 36-217-5400
New Ford CEO admits to driving a Lexus LS - MotorAuthority www.motorauthority.com › News › Industry Sep 11, 2006 - Alan Mulally, who recently replaced Tom Ford as the CEO of the Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F], admitted to journalists that he drives a Lexus LS 430 because, "it's the finest car in the world." After studying all the cars on the market, he said he found the Lexus was the best.
Beautifully appointed luxury from a Japanese automaker. I say this because everyone always seems to associate the Germans with Luxury. While they are correct, None have the reliability factor.
and the reliability factor is HUGE when you need a vehicle that will go for years and years. Thanks for the feedback and for stopping by! Have a wonderful day! Brock
YungGBone124127134 they aren't that boring. Maybe on there older cars but Audi was also very boring back then same with Mercedes.... The new lexuses look very agressive and stylish.
Lexus was really amazing, glad they're making changes on the fly. I didn't like the 2014 Spindle design and I don't like the looks of the new RX 350 but I'll have to admit, dam is it ever fun to drive. Lexus needs to adjust the look for old stolid classy Lexus over power and we'll all go back. I'm about to sell a Lexus RX and buy an MDX Elite.
As a kid our family car was a 2001 LS430 and I loved it. It was a silver on black with the only option bring nav. Ever sense then I’ve been s Lexus fan. I got handed down my mom’s old 2004 GX470 and at 252k miles she still seems like new. When I’m done with college the two cars that I want are a pearl white tan interior GX470 with no nav and a LS430 pearl white tan interior with no nav. You just can’t beat these things.
The Lexus master mechanic at the local dealer has recommended me against buying a LS460. They are a lot more complex and use more computers. Not to mention their ride quality isn't like LS430. The 07-09 had major issues with break actuators and noise as well. LS430 is the pinnacle of automobile perfection.
I've heard that as well. The LS460 has had a long run now so I would hope the 2013-2017 facelift versions would be built pretty well. Still, they don't quite have the tank like feel of the LS430...
You certainly have a Lexus LS-430 fetish. All of us Lexus LS - 430 owners have a fetish. This car is the best automobile ever made. It is a tank riding on clouds. I have owned my LS for exactly four years and two days, and now that I am writing, it is at the dealer for a major service. The loaner I am driving is a 2016 GS 200t. It is such a nice car, but I can comfortably say my 2004 LS430 has better interior quality than the GS. LS-430 was my dream college car that I finally got my hands on it. It makes me special every time I sit in it. Who said dreams don't come true? I am living in my dream with this car.
See, that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about! I love the phrases you have for your LS430! A "tank riding on clouds", and how it makes you feel special when you get in it. I need your help with scripting my vids! EXCELLENT contribution, my friend! Thank you for the feedback! Brock
David McClain Hey Dave I was thinking about buying the LS460 but after hearing so many excellent reviews now I'm leaning towards the LS430 what do you think because u had both of them???
David is correct..I have owned both the 430 and 460..the 430 brings torque and quiet supremacy to the driver..my 460 felt bulky and sometimes quite boring.no offense an 06 gs430 or 09gs460 are also supreme
I was thinking to buy 2014 GX460, then two days ago I saw recommendation of the 2007 LS 460, and now I see you guys recommending more about the LS 430!!! I am confused! I wonder which one would be the best choice?
Have this exact car in this color combination. I have been in the car business for over 30 years and agree this is the best Lexus ever made. It is quite probably the best luxury sedan ever made when you consider luxury, reliability, and overall comfort. I have met several who have traded their 430s for the newer 460 model. They all wish they had their 430 back. With 130k on the odo, I have no plans of ever replacing mine.
* * The LS430 was the last Lexus that was PERFECT...you are CORRECT! I have the 2001 model with 158,000 miles on it original buyer and owner since...and still looks, drive and feels LIKE IN THE FIRST DAY! WILL NEVER SELL IT! * *
The backseat is sooo comfortable. Every now and then my wife will drive me around while I sit back there. It's her car but I think I have more love for it. We drove it on the Dragon's tail in the mountains of NC and holy smokes it handles itself well for such a large car! I could go on and on but I'll rein it in...
That's awesome! I LOVE the idea of being chauffeured in the back seat. I was just looking at the dragons tail online and thinking about going there to film a video of it. I LOVE your commentary and thank you for the contribution! Have a wonderful day! Brock
I am on my second LS430 and I concur. You can buy one for under $10K, and with a couple grand, bring it back to factory ride and reliability. MPG is a real 18 city, 24 highway.
Alan Ladd: Better Than That On Hwy.Mlg., If Plugs Are Changed to NGK Or Denso IRIDIUMS ,U Use A Good Syn.Oil + Either Blend Ur Fuel W/ Mid.+ Premium.or Run Straight Premium.I Did All These things to My 04 ES330, & Get 12-15% Better Mileage & POWER W/ My 3.3 V-6.
After all these years, that model is STILL so attractive and cool. I have a neighbor with that same exact exterior color and interior trim. Thanks for doing this review, Brock.
I just got one 2004........with 60,000 original miles....... the LS 430 drives way better than my E66 750Li!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing is in MINT condition I am absolutely in love with the car. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Now I'm thinking of getting rid of the 7 and getting a 2010 460 L or 2014 460 L. Thinking the 2010 would look better all JDM VIP'd out. Love Lexus !!!!!!!!!!
Gilly, the Packard and the Imperial were magnificent, quality, reliable autos, pretty much world best at the time. America is not producing great cars now, but we did many moons ago. Having said that, my next car will probably be a LS430.
Two weeks ago I bought an almost carbon copy of the car in this video, 2004 white. The only difference is I have the big screen (I prefer the set-up in this video) and chrome wheels. Other than that I'm looking at my car. She had 146K miles and meticulous maintenance records. At 19 years old the car is a dream to drive. New cars off the dealer's floor aren't as quiet and well-mannered as this one. I had to finally give up my 1991 LS400 with 500K on it because it was too expensive to repair. If I can get 15 years out of this one too, then I'll be good.
I'm so glad that somebody finally review that Lexus LS 430 that particular Year from 04 to 06 is the best one I ever left and also the V8 I'm thinking to buy something like that for myself
+kalmey schwartz Thank you for the feedback! This, as you can tell, is my favorite! If you can find a clean one the you should really get it. You would be in Love! Thanks again and have a wonderful day! Brock Frady Flow Lexus of Greensboro
Just got my 05 two weeks ago, moonlight pearl. I love the car. After wanting one for over a decade I finally was able to afford one, car is amazing in every way.
prob late but hows the reliability been I know the engine and trans are good but the extra power stuff might got a lot to charge. Like power seats and suspension.
Ya the 1 of many reasons I got this car is the engine and trans are so reliable. That being said this car does suffer some electronic issues that will cause u problems, mainly the electric telescoping/tilt steering wheel is the main one. Some people have the automatic movement disabled, the other issue is the power mirrors tend to have issues. Mine is not an Ultra Luxury which I heard can have some very expensive air shock problems.
My mother had a 2006 same color couple years ago was in a serious accident with went head on with a sonata who veered into her lane at 45mph , thank god she was driving that car really saved her life well constructed vehicle.
I own the 2005 lexus ls 430 with full packages at age 18 and i love it. This car handles so much better than my last two. Will continue to have her as long as I can.
Coolest 18 yr old ever! What an amazing car to have at any age, much less 18! By the way, as long as you take care of it, you'll have it pretty much forever! Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Got an 06 LS 430 black on black. Full loaded. Most reliable car I ever bought. I hope to get over 500,000 miles. Power polish the paint once every couple months with 3M since I had it shipped from Canada to Ghana, Africa
Thumbs up Frank. I got a 06 430 black on black too with the ultra luxury package. These cars make you feel like a king on the road. My 96 LS400 was nice, but the 430 keeps everything good about my 400 and then takes you to the next level of luxury. This should've been the successor to Mercedes W140, instead of their W220. But, it's not been cheap to maintain this car. In 3 years, I've spent almost $8K in work such as: Replaced power mirror switch Brakes Completely new A/C lines and compressor (all corroded underneath) 90K Service (belts, water pump, transmission fluid flush to fix rough shifting, and a number of other items) Some interior light bulbs on switches went out Automatic HVAC recirculation mode sometimes doesn't work Oh and I have to constantly lubricate the rubber seals along the top frames of the doors and sunroof because they dry up and annoyingly creak. If anyone has this problem, let me know and I'll get the name of the product I use (don't have it on me right now).
Hi Joe. I have had the Mirror switch replaced too (warranty). The brakes and timing belt are normal maintenance items, not failures. I bought mine 9 years ago with 34,000 miles. It now has 110,000 and is just now needing front brakes (but the brake reminder still hasn't come on). I don't know how to contact you re: the door seal lubricant. Can you post it here?
Hi Gene, yes I was well aware that brakes and timing are normal. I just wanted to inform people that while it is overall very reliable, it is certainly not a cheap car to own (such as your typical Corolla or Civic). But anyways, the lubricant I use is Sonus Total Eclipse. Amazon sells it and it truly kills the creaks, but only for a few weeks, then you have to reapply. My old LS400 had the same issue, but I only had to apply about once a month on that car. Remember to apply it on the seals on the door itself (the flat rubber lining that runs the entire top of the door frame).
I remember, years ago, I read one article (Motor Trend I think), comparing the serenity of the engine and the car in general, this one with...Rolls Royce! Good work Lexus!
When we first started driving our 2004, my wife and I both had trouble flying away from stops until we learned to go very light on the accelerator. So yeah that torque is very noticeable -- and fun.
Oh man, I need to buy one of these. I had a low mileage '99 SC300 for a couple years recently and it was awesome. I remember driving an LS430 10 years ago and even though the tires were terribly out of balance, I was stunned by the quality and smoothness
I've driven my 2006 Lexus LS430 for 1 year that has 16,300 miles on it. Super reliable and quiet, and not slow. The only bad thing I felt is the break is weak.
Truly lucked out and 4 years ago found this exact 430 model, 2004 with same pearlescent moon white color and with the ultra luxury package, and remarkably only 22.5k miles on it. Crazy right? The prior single owner had kept it garaged for 10 years and only sold it to make room for his new Tesla. Now its up to 34.5k miles and still pristine in and out. Ultra dark tint on back windshield and back side windows so it almost makes one think it must be a dragon mafia car. LOL! Love that air suspension, and for back seat passengers separate heater and cooling back seats, rear fridge and individual media consoles, and 2 speed massage system for each seat -- is ridiculous! I pwamise to baby Pearl all I can. Thanks Brock for making this video, and extolling those specs! It only reinforces feeling I'm a lucky bastard. Ok, now back to designing rocket ships that need to be as reliable as this girl!
Oh my gosh that IS crazy! It's amazing that there are still jewels out there like that and that you found one! I love the tint too, puts a cherry on top of that beauty. Thank you so much for telling us about it!
I have the 2001 LS 430 with black interior and the Ultra Package. I love this car. It rides quieter and smoother that any other car on the planet ! I have driven mine conservatively since purchased and it has only 124,000 miles on it. A 2001 model and only 124,000 MILES ! ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?....It is like new and I plan to keep it that way. Thanks for the great review.
Very nice review, I love the pearl white on the LS430. It's my dream car ever since the LS400 debut! Now that I finally own a 2005 Briarwood pearl and it's in mint condition even I am the 3rd owner of the LS. I've been looking for a pearl white and never have any luck in California, the one you just review actually pretty dawn good overall condition with almost 120k miles. I only use it on the weekend and garage kept!!! I also test drove the 2009 LS460 but it doesn't have that special Lexus level feel inside the cabin...and not mention that the LS430 is much better material built. Thanks again for reviewing the almost forgotten best Lexus ever made.
I LOVE Briarwood Pearl. I remember seeing that color for the first time in 2005 in a Custom Luxury Package LS430. It had the aged wood trim with Saddle Interior Leather. Stunning!
the LS460 is not as well built as the 430. I know because I owned a ls430 for 10 years and wish I hadn't traded it for my current LS460 which doesn't have the tight luxury feel.
@@miltonvoight3374 So you really prefer the LS430 over the LS460,can you tell me exactly why, because I'm leaning towards the LS460L mainly for the body style and much roomier in the back seat???
I've got a series 2 LS400, 1995 . 75km or close to 47k in miles, I'm only the second private owner. The quietest car I've ever been in and I've driven a Rolls Royce. Every drive is a pleasure. And I still get the occasional thumbs up. Don't see too many around these days. I'll get a 430 for my next car for sure. Shhhh, I'm talking too loud, the kids in the back might wake up ...
WOW and people talk about Mercedes and BMW !!! what the hell is Mercedes and BMW ?!!!! Special when it comes to reliability !! Lexus is my dream car and for real more is the older models then the new once
I did valet parking back i 2004 when I was 18 and first got my license. This is the only car that stood out to me. I hit the gas and it takes off like a jet with no sound or anything and tranmission so smooth I cant tell what gear I am in. I see why your obsessed with this car. Id rather have this then the new ls.
* * The LS430 was the last Lexus that was PERFECT! I have the 2001 model with 158,000 miles on it original buyer and owner since...and still looks, drive and feels LIKE IN THE FIRST DAY! WILL NEVER SELL IT! * *
It's so advanced for such a (sorry) old vehicle! Most luxury cars now may not even have some of the options this car has! In all honesty though, I own a 2010 Lexus LS 460 L and In my opinion the 2010 model is just a more refined version of this one.
Some of the options available on this model are absolutely crazy, adaptive cruise control in a car that old? My 2016 Avalon hybrid limited has a pretty damn nice interior, but I feel like I would enjoy this car so much more haha, however 40mpg in the Avalon is kinda hard to beat
I'm not REALLY a fan of Lexus, but this really is their best car I would say. Design wise and of course they run forever. This and the 2001-2005 GS are the best ones in my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback! I think you are right on the money about the LS and the 01-05 GS. The 2JZ engine is BULLETPROOF! Thanks again for stopping by and come back soon! Brock Frady Flow Lexus of Greensboro
thanks for your review.when i retired in ,i purchased a 2006 3 years ago with 48 k on it from an estate.pearl white with a tan int..purpose was to check off an item on my bucket list, which was to get in a car and tour the united states.6800 miles and 29 days later mission accomplished..drove from connecticut to seattle and then down california coast and back thru the middle of the country..only an oil change in nevada..never had an issue...my back is shot with 3 pinched nerves, stenosis and arthritis..i could drive for 8 hrs straight and walk afterwards!.awesome cruiser...this is hands down the best car i ever owned or drove, and i have 45 years in the car biz...the best cars are the ones that are made in japan ,not just japanese. i still have it and will not part with it.i have 103 k on it now. lexus for life!
I have been binge watching various videos on your channel because you are so good at this. Ha! I know you are not working as a car salesman any longer, but I do hope you are loving your new career because you clearly loved what you did, and seemed to genuinely love Lexus. ;) More time with family IS the most important thing...and I know that was your motivation behind the career change. Just wanted to say that you are a natural in front of the camera, and relaxing to watch.
My goodness! I am blown away by your kindness! Thank you so much for your feedback - I am so very grateful that you liked my vids! I am working my way back to make content again. I am totally spoiled by having all this time with my family 😊 Again, thank you so much! Brock
Hey Brock, thanks for making such a great video, back in late January I used yours and other videos to make a decision on purchasing a 2004 LS 430 in Flint Mica, easily the best and most satisfying car I've ever owned. Looking forward to owning it for many, many years. Congrats on having more time for yourself! Cheers. @@HowToCarGuy
My Lexus ls430 2001 has 290000 miles. Orginal starter and alternator. Just replaced radiator. Basic maintenance. The ls430 is a bulletproof car. Best car l ever owned. I got a used Lexus ls460L 2007 and it is a beautiful car to drive. It has 155000 miles. I will always buy Toyota or lexus vehicles.
Best bang for buck car out there bar NONE right now. Incredible build quality, relatively low costs of ownership and extremely comfortable and more importantly, bulletproof reliability. Hope Lexus build something like this again. Can never forget how Lexus buried it's European rivals, nobody saw that coming...
Ls is the best thing this side of Bentley. I have a sport suspension and I love it. power , comfort, and reliability hard to match with most luxurious autos like bmw, benz, and audi. benz makes some beautiful cars though. ls400 430 are all the same but got better with each version. 460 is good but some folks liked the 430 over it early 460s, I wonder what this Ls500 gonna be like.
Excellent post! I am SUPER PUMPED about the LC500! It's going to be all the best of every LS rolled up into one vehicle and then multiplied by 1000. But that's just my opinion :)
I have a lexus ls430 2001. It has 300,000 miles and it has the original starter and alternator. I replaced the radiator at 250,000. I replaced the 290,000 valve gaskets. Every 100,000 miles timing belt water pump pulleys serpentine get changed. That is the biggest cost. Do regular maintenance brakes pads replace and replace fluids oil, transmission oil, and rear differential oil. Every mechanic that works on my engine says these are bulletproof engines and make sure you change the oil regularly. They say the engine will go over 500,000 if you take car of the engine. Best car ever totally agree that the 2004 model was the year to get.
I wonder how many miles it has done. It looks like it's never been on the road. A big TICK for who ever owned it and kept such a beautiful car in such amazing condition.I just hope the next owner does the same!
2001 - 2006 LS430's are legend's the... i'm currently living here in United Arab Emirates & believe me i have hardly seen any LS460's 99% you'll see the LS400's & LS430's & litrally every house hold here has to have an LS430!!! & the parts here are litrally as good as free of cost just the other day when i dropped by to my mechanic for oil change for 2002 LS430 i was asking him how much would it cost for all 4 stock air bags for LS430 & he's like 200 Dirhams which is like 73$ & that also orignal Lexus suspension & to mention i have owned my LS430 for 3 years now & its driven 350 KM + & yet drives smooth af no issues nothing these cars could never drop value. the other day i saw the very first LS500 here in UAE
Love the 3nd GEN LS...a true gentlemen's car that says Style and Power. That one is super clean. I had a 1st gen LS with 60K miles, excellent condition with all red interior and seats. They only improve as time progress. Currently, I still have my 2002 Lexus GS / Aristo which I purchased new after graduating college - 2JZ Power!! Great video BTW.
Whoa! Red interior! Pretty rare. I have a friend with a 2001 Custom Luxury that is Black Cherry Pearl outside and Bordeaux w/Semi Aniline Leather Seat Trim - it's the only one I've even seen. How many miles on the 02 GS? 2JZ is the best one ever made.
i had a drive in my friends ls 460 and even he said that the 430 felt more solid and so luxurious to drive it was hard to beat if not impossible. there is a chance that the 430 ls will be remembered as one of the most incredible cars ever made.
I have a 2001 LS430 Ultra Luxury and man all I can say is that once you have owned one of these, you will NOT want anything else!! One cool thing Ive noticed with mine is it is easy to get in and out of no matter where you are sitting.. its amazing..plus all the other countless awesome features and things that it does..
I have this exact car, 232,500 miles. It’s beautiful and rides great. But the suspension appears to be shot as I scrape the front bumper when I go down a slight drop in the road. The acceleration is good but not as crisp when it had 50,000 miles. I’m debating weather to get a newer model or repair this one.
My Uncle bought my Grandfather a 2006 LS 430 for his 87th birthday in May 2006, he died in June 2006, it had only 1000 miles on it from him. My Uncle who was ill with CLL very rarely drove it as he was in the end stage of his 8 yr battle with CLL it was the showroom floor model so it was loaded, it had the 18 inch chrome Lexus wheels, the key fob keyless entry and navigation with excellent rear view camera, the Mark Levinson stereo system, it only has 35,000 miles on it today in 2018, about 3,000 miles a year with documented servicing by the Lexus dealer. Parking my 430 besides most 430's is always a trip, mine makes them look generic , my paint is a gold metallic color, it just has a brilliant paint job, the 18 inch factory chrome Lexus rims. My Father , Uncle and myself have had every kind of car from Audii's, BMW's to Mercedes, Jags, Rolls Royces,Lincoln, Cadillac,Bentley,(03 Azure turbo convertible), Rolls Royce, Corniche convertibles,Porsche's, and I can state the 06 Lexus has the solid tank like Mercedes stability and precision and the torque of their old 6.3, 6.9 litre V 8s and the V12's had, the cadillacs with the 500 cubic inch engines pre 1970, even though 72 to 75 models still had monster torque, the HP dropped from 400 to 230 but would still ignite the right rear tire into a ball of smoke if you floored it, especially turning right! The Lexus out does the Bentleys and Rolls cars in their modern bulletproof design, go 100 mph then panic brake the 430 Lexus compared to an 03 Bentley Azure, the British cars feel like they want to pull and change lanes as the Lexus is like driving an electric high speed rail car. The cars of every brand after 2006 began to do some dramatic styling with KIA coming out with cars that resembled high end cars and its hard to know what type of car you see going past you, they got uglier in mot cases of 4 door cars, The Lexus is dead reliable except for the battery going dead if not driven for long periods and the cost of parts if you need them, a rear window screen for example is $1,400, the leather shift knob is $400 but the cases you need them are rare. I read the starter is on top of the motor in the valley beneath the intake manifold and the starter is $600 alone in parts cost
As a passenger if you fall asleep in the back of this car , you will wake up feeling like you slept in a luxury hotel I'm never ever selling my Lexus I've had to convert it to lpg, because englands petrol prices are pure fuckry
No I paid somebody 1500 gbp which I think is about 1800 usd I had it converted by a specialist, car seems to run fine, engine had only done 60k for a 13 year old car, still runs silky smooth I run it on gas until engine warms up then I switch it over to lpg if it's a cold morning. Our petrol price is around 2 dollars per LITRE and lpg is 50pence a litre
Our petrol price is on average $1.50 per litre here in Australia and you are paying in England 1.25 Pounds per litre almost double and i thought ours was to high. I sympathise with you Cass. I shall never complain about our petrol prices again!
HowToCarGuy black on black, I had to take it, I've only seen two for sale in MN where I live so I had to jump on it! I will say though owning a black car is a pain to keep looking good! Silver is much easier to keep clean and hides scratches better
When I was a little wealthy back in 1998 I bought a 1991 LS400 with 37000miles genuine. Used to do 120 miles a day. The salesman said the type of journey I was doing the car would return 30mpg UK and it did just that. The car came with Dunlop D8 tyres. After a few years of body roll I was advised to change to Michlin premicy tyres what a fantastic improvement. Bought for 17500uk 1998 sold for 2500uk 2005 what a great car never forget the experience .
hey brock just want to say thank you as i bought my first lexus because of this video, i managed to find a '97 ls400 coach edition in diamond white pearl with 113k original miles. thank you so much for the great content as well!
My wife has an 06 SC 430 with 98k miles. I offered to buy her a new 911 when her stereo started acting up and she said, nope. So I put in a modern head unit with GPS and rear camera and a screen that is the size of the old head unit....plus replaced all the speakers and sub and added a 70 wat amp. $5200 beats $125k all day long. The car is really bulletproof. Same engine and tranny in a slightly lighter car.
I sold my 06 IS250 last year and that was a smooth ride, I can imagine the LS430 would be heaven. I've been driving my work van for nearly a year now and I don't enjoy driving like I used to. I gotta get extra work now because the LS430 is officially on the wish list. Great video.
That's awesome! The LS430 is definitely a machine built to swaddle you in unrelenting luxury! Thank you for the feedback and I hope you can get that Lexus soon!
I'm 19 and I own a 2005 LS430. I've driven a lot of newer cars (Lexus included), and I'm always happy to return back to my outdated, old man's car. There aren't many cars that I can enjoy driving for hours and still feel happy to drive as long as the body can take. I still get looks despite it being 12 years old (not that I wanted it, but I notice a lot of things). But the best Lexus ever made? To other LS owners (90s to now), it's debated that the 98-00 LS400 is the best Lexus ever made. What I would say is that the 430 is the last proper Lexus that Lexus made.
We have a 2000 LS400 Platinum Edition in silver exterior and grey interior, its breaking our hearts its about to reach 100K miles. Its easily the most reliable car in our collection and we don't see a time when we would ever sell it. We bought it at 80k miles for 1/10th of its new price. The Audi dealership said it was traded in by a kid who received in a will from his grandfather. He said he didn't want an old man car and bought a new A4. Sold the most reliable car made to get one from the least reliable brand out there today.
+D W He didn't know what he had. They just wanted the latest gadget, forget the substance and quality. Doesn't matter now; you own the LS400 now. And don't be upset about it having 100k miles. Its got a lot more life in it as long as you keep up with it.
Yes indeed it does have much more life left. It drives like a new car and we are so happy it was ordered without nav. So many issues with those old nav systems and finding updates. Its just short of 300 horsepower and a sleeper with the hidden dual exhausts. The 430 is the same engine just bored out to 4.3 instead of our 4.0 in the 2000 LS. It has the same lines and cues as our low mileage 740i in the same silver color. The LS is dead reliable but the BMW is always on a battery tender and leaking from some new area. Lexus for the win!
YES! 2004, 2005, 2006 are the best, in my opinion. Now 2001 - 2003 are the same quality but I prefer the exterior styling of the 2004 - 2006. Just my opinion.
How is the exterior styling of the 2004-2006 different from the 2001 - 2003? There are slight interior differences but the exterior differences are microscopic.
The front fog lights are flat on the 2004-06, they are elliptical on 01-3. The headlight shape is slightly different as well. The 04-06 has backup camera, keyless entry and adaptive front light (the light angle curves right if the road curves right), these features were just not available for 01-03. I first bought an 02 LS 430 at 137k miles which is still driving like new at 192k. My next "upgrade" was an 01 LS 430 with Ultra Luxury (reclining rear seats, massager, air suspension, dynamic laser cruise control).
These cars are unbelievably well built. Almost every one I see on the road and the two my neighbor owns look like they're just a couple of years old when they're pushing 14 years already. In 20 years maybe 90% of these cars will still be around.
+TrollBuster I couldn't agree more. I see older Lexus at our dealership all the time with hundreds of thousands of miles and they're driving like new. Most I've seen is 512,000 miles.
Funny. I purchased a Lexas exactly like this one (except my interior is gray) and I was struck by how everything went silent when I closed the door. it was amazing! At 5100 pounds when you punch it from a standstill it feels like a linear-induction roller coaster. Barely any engine noise, just increasing wind noise. At 19 years old with an impeccable service record (from Lexus) no doubt this is the best vehicle purchase I've ever made.
Even at 13 yrs old, these cars are STILL more reliable than many newer cars on the road today.
Yes indeed! That's a great point!
A big automotive publication (can't remember which one) did a study several years ago which concluded that a 10-year-old Lexus LS430 was more reliable than any NEW luxury competitor! AMAZING!

New Ford CEO admits to driving a Lexus LS - MotorAuthority
www.motorauthority.com › News › Industry
Sep 11, 2006 - Alan Mulally, who recently replaced Tom Ford as the CEO of the Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F], admitted to journalists that he drives a Lexus LS 430 because, "it's the finest car in the world." After studying all the cars on the market, he said he found the Lexus was the best.
If Alan is smart he will use it as a benchmark for Ford. We could do with an American LS.
@@voyeur113 America did have an LS. It was called the Crown Victoria. But then Ford killed it...
This is NOT the best Lexus ever made. This is the best CAR ever made

The first statement still holds true tho...
lexus ls 430 (2001-2006) best models for real
2000-2004 Toyota Avalon was amazing to!
What about the 2008 GS 350? What makes the 2001-2004 LS better?

One year later how is it going?

Beautifully appointed luxury from a Japanese automaker. I say this because everyone always seems to associate the Germans with Luxury. While they are correct, None have the reliability factor.

YungGBone124127134 they aren't that boring. Maybe on there older cars but Audi was also very boring back then same with Mercedes.... The new lexuses look very agressive and stylish.
Lexus was really amazing, glad they're making changes on the fly.
I didn't like the 2014 Spindle design and I don't like the looks of the new RX 350 but I'll
have to admit, dam is it ever fun to drive.
Lexus needs to adjust the look for old stolid classy Lexus over power and we'll all

The greatest car ever made. I currently have 2 2004’s. One has 224k and drives like a car with 50K. Incredible. And BTW your reviews are the best.
I have this exact car and cannot convince myself that I need a new LS460 as this car is still amazing to drive
I second that notion...
I 3rd that notion...
The Lexus master mechanic at the local dealer has recommended me against buying a LS460. They are a lot more complex and use more computers. Not to mention their ride quality isn't like LS430. The 07-09 had major issues with break actuators and noise as well. LS430 is the pinnacle of automobile perfection.
im in virginia and my lexus service advisor said the same thing he said the ls460 was rushed into production to compete with the s550

Would you recommend the LS430 for a first car for someone going into college?
@@CrazedSniperBoy Most definitely, the RELIABILITY is INSANE...
Never ever in my life have I ever heard a car door sound so cool like that. I love this car

ohhhhh - Ultra Lux. LS430. NICE!!!!
David McClain Hey Dave I was thinking about buying the LS460 but after hearing so many excellent reviews now I'm leaning towards the LS430 what do you think because u had both of them???
David is correct..I have owned both the 430 and 460..the 430 brings torque and quiet supremacy to the driver..my 460 felt bulky and sometimes quite boring.no offense an 06 gs430 or 09gs460 are also supreme
.

I am on my second LS430 and I concur. You can buy one for under $10K, and with a couple grand, bring it back to factory ride and reliability. MPG is a real 18 city, 24 highway.
I couldn't have said it better myself! Now, the trick is to find one....
Alan Land Hey Al what really makes the LS430 so special, because I was thinking about buying an LS460???

Just got my 05 two weeks ago, moonlight pearl. I love the car. After wanting one for over a decade I finally was able to afford one, car is amazing in every way.
And the love affair begins..... :) CONGRATS! Such a beautiful machine!
prob late but hows the reliability been I know the engine and trans are good but the extra power stuff might got a lot to charge.
INCREMENTAL thanks. I don't think those years have air suspension
INCREMENTAL the power steering is an easy fix
My mother had a 2006 same color couple years ago was in a serious accident with went head on with a sonata who veered into her lane at 45mph , thank god she was driving that car really saved her life well constructed vehicle.
I am so glad to hear that! If they were both going 45 then that's an impact of 90 MPH! Thank you for contributing to the conversation!

Thank you, my friend! Gotta keep things interesting!
Got an 06 LS 430 black on black. Full loaded. Most reliable car I ever bought. I hope to get over 500,000 miles. Power polish the paint once every couple months with 3M since I had it shipped from Canada to Ghana, Africa
Keep it going, my friend!
In 3 years, I've spent almost $8K in work such as:
Replaced power mirror switch
Brakes
Completely new A/C lines and compressor (all corroded underneath)
90K Service (belts, water pump, transmission fluid flush to fix rough shifting, and a number of other items)
Some interior light bulbs on switches went out
Automatic HVAC recirculation mode sometimes doesn't work
Oh and I have to constantly lubricate the rubber seals along the top frames of the doors and sunroof because they dry up and annoyingly creak.
Thanks, Joe for the info. I don't have any creaks but I do want to preserve the rubber bits.
I remember, years ago, I read one article (Motor Trend I think), comparing the serenity of the engine and the car in general, this one with...Rolls Royce! Good work Lexus!

It’s amazing to see that this LS had so many advanced luxury features in 2004 that are still missing from modern cars today

The LS500 is an abomination...hideous. And a twin turbo V6??...puleeze!
My dream car

Reliability : that is the key word that ends the game
This and the 2002 BMW 7 Series are my all time favourite luxury cars
To be exact my first gen LS was the very first one made, 1990. GS has about 67K miles on her.
I got 2000 gs and 2005 ls we pretty much got the same cars, yea both have amazing engines
i had a drive in my friends ls 460 and even he said that the 430 felt more solid and so luxurious to drive it was hard to beat if not impossible. there is a chance that the 430 ls will be remembered as one of the most incredible cars ever made.
Very true !
Silver on brown full ultra ls430, 200k on the dash and still going strong
You have a beautiful car! I love the Ultra package!!!
Had any air suspension issues?
The hood pop sounded like a gunshot. Love
Mazda 929s back in 1988 did that cool vent trick.
This is the only time I’ve ever seen a Toyota or Lexus at a shop.
That engine.. one of the best. Don't U Z?
+Zachary Lukes I see what you did there.... best comment ever!!!!!
U R catching on..
I'LL KILL A PUNNER!!!
Lol
My Father , Uncle and myself have had every kind of car from Audii's, BMW's to Mercedes, Jags, Rolls Royces,Lincoln, Cadillac,Bentley,(03 Azure turbo convertible), Rolls Royce, Corniche convertibles,Porsche's,
and I can state the 06 Lexus has the solid tank like Mercedes stability and precision and the torque of their old 6.3, 6.9 litre V 8s and the V12's had, the cadillacs with the 500 cubic inch engines pre 1970, even though 72 to 75 models still had monster torque, the HP dropped from 400 to 230 but would still ignite the right rear tire into a ball of smoke if you floored it, especially turning right!
The cars of every brand after 2006 began to do some dramatic styling with KIA coming out with cars that resembled high end cars and its hard to know what type of car you see going past you, they got uglier in mot cases of 4 door cars, The Lexus is dead reliable except for the battery going dead if not driven for long periods and the cost of parts if you need them, a rear window screen for example is $1,400, the leather shift knob is $400
but the cases you need them are rare.
+Cass Karo Never thought of the backseat as a luxury bed but I could absolutely see that! Did you do the conversion yourself?
No I paid somebody 1500 gbp which I think is about 1800 usd I had it converted by a specialist, car seems to run fine, engine had only done 60k for a 13 year old car, still runs silky smooth I run it on gas until engine warms up then I switch it over to lpg if it's a cold morning. Our petrol price is around 2 dollars per LITRE and lpg is 50pence a litre
For the conversion-challenged that is almost EIGHT DOLLARS a gallon, people! Fuckery indeed!
Our petrol price is on average $1.50 per litre here in Australia and you are paying in England 1.25 Pounds per litre almost double and i thought ours was to high. I sympathise with you Cass. I shall never complain about our petrol prices again!
Just bought a 2005 LS430, no nav, only 45k for 9500. It's like new. I don't get tired even I drive it whole day. I absolutely love this vehicle!
Needs the black interior, I almost bought a silver on black 04 LS430 before I found an 08 GS460, the newer tech and speed made me choose the GS.
Lukas ufff GS460...
The GS460 is probably my second fav. I LOVE that car! Is the GS Silver w/ Black interior?
HowToCarGuy black on black, I had to take it, I've only seen two for sale in MN where I live so I had to jump on it! I will say though owning a black car is a pain to keep looking good! Silver is much easier to keep clean and hides scratches better
Black won’t look as pretty once that leather starts cracking and you get scratches on the outside of your car.
Brian C I heard black dont crack brah
I just bought one exaclty like this only 50k miles its like brand new what a dream car!
How much did you pay?
the sexiest color ever on a lexus
is black
@@jdmnsxr6820 racist
Briarwood Pearl!
I Just love how the ac vents move!
LUXURY ALL THE WAAY!!!!
Better design than the new LS
hey brock just want to say thank you as i bought my first lexus because of this video, i managed to find a '97 ls400 coach edition in diamond white pearl with 113k original miles. thank you so much for the great content as well!
Big fan of yours
+CRAZY JUKEBOX Thanks for the feedback and for stopping by!!!!
This car is so calm inside! i feel this car got everything family members needs for comfortable drive.
love those swing ac vents.
+Navjot Singh Great insight! I like your terminology of it being calm inside.
I wish they made a wagon version of this amazing sedan!
J A. With enough money anything is possible.
J A. That will be hideous 🤦🏿♂️
My grandad had one EXACTLY like this. The seat buzzer or something always scared me when I was little. It used to ride so smooth.
well you've sold me...i'm looking at a 2006 now lol
That's AWESOME! If it's clean and has been maintained then you should get it!!!
Wats da miles and how much
My wife has an 06 SC 430 with 98k miles.
+Polybius Champion You, my friend, have one amazing wife!
HowToCarGuy I truly do.
You're a rare one, my friend. Not many would put a $5,200 sound system in a 10 year old car. But as they say, If Momma Ain't Happy Nobody's Happy.
i agree this is the best lexus ever. the newer ones arent as characteristic.
+mujjuman Old school has a timeless appeal and this one has it!
Characteristic? charismatic
What? This LS has some features that my LS460 doesn't have? Thanks for the great video.
+markus russell You're most welcome and thanks for stopping by!
Brock
Aki Kurose your a very matured 19 year old... kudos on making proper chocies in life
We have a 2000 LS400 Platinum Edition in silver exterior and grey interior, its breaking our hearts its about to reach 100K miles.
+D W
He didn't know what he had.
You are wise beyond your years, young Aki. The Force is strong with this one.
now i want one of these. damn. are the 2005 and 2006 good as well?
Dan Cunning
I get 19 - 20 in mixed urban driving...about 26 on a highway trip.
thank you this how its done
+Wesley Clouden You are most welcome! Thank YOU for stopping by and for the kind words!
Very nice! Amazing how the LS430 holds up. In my opinion, the best vehicle Lexus ever produced.
Looked like a limousine and not just a luxury sedan
