in Estonia for us the winters arent that cold like the used to be 7 years and so ago. everyone in Estonia is lonely, keep to themselves and really dont talk to eachother, we like the loneliness in a good way because we like to be alone idk why. old people are racist but they dont show it to you, cause they have a wrong understanding are you a refugee or a normal person, becasue the refugees only ask for money from the goverment and make trouble. but younger people accept other races, age 13- 27. the racism is in our genes if i can say that because we dont like outsiders because of our peoples history, we Estonias were slaves for like 800 years
i wouldn't say we are lonely, it's not the right word to describe estonians. We just keep to ourselves and are not open. Also i've never heard that we've been slaves for 800 years.
I just got accepted to Tallinn University of Technology for Master's degree in Mechatronics. I wouldn't want to be looked down upon by racist old people, life already had been harsh for me.

I wish Estonians stopped justifying racism with ‘ we were under foreign rule for a long time and don’t trust outsiders’ It’s just ignorance, no excuse.
Some thoughts on renting. First of all we Estonians have more of an own your home mentality and as a result the rental market might be smaller than elsewhere in Europe. Renting to foreigners carries an extra risk. One might be able to track down a fellow Estonian if they damage the apartment or owe rent - ours is a small country. The odds of tracking down a foreigner with nothing tying them down are rather slim. (And to an extent the principle that people are less behaved when far from home applies.) A lot of the apartment rental happens off the books to avoid taxes. Might not be a subject one wants to approach with a foreigner. And the odds of getting caught would probably be higher too.
Nice video. I'm sad that people here judge on colour. If they are afraid, they should just do a background check. And it would be enough. I hope you found a good estonian community and are happy. As an estonian i think over half are actually lonely souls. Haven't even think about that before. Seemed like normal. But yeah weird people we are. Plus you forgot we have cold summers also sometimes 😂.
Renting issue came up again with Ukrainian war refigees as well. Same color as us. So its not skin but looks like landlords simply dont trust anyone but longtime residents.
problem with renting the apartment is the race actually, Estonians are afraid of immigrants because of the different culture, estonians are not afraid of white europeans but other race yes sadly
No, It's not. Western Europeans, both whites and blacks, are often trashing Estonians apartments and/or leaving without paying. But hiring lawyer and suing person to court in western European country is more expensive than few months rent plus cost of all your furniture together. Secondly, you can easily make background check for locals. Thirdly, locals are more convenient clients because they are not whining and will fix small problems like broken bulb by themselves; and they understand what things belong to homeowners associations responsibilities and address such problems directly.

Is it really that suprising that people do not want immigrants here? Considering what immigrants are doing in other places? The main thing here is you DO NOT force your customs or culture on estonians. Or expect Estonians to behave according to your customs. If you do that Estonians will hate you and rightfully so. If you want to live in Estonia then you do things the way they done here period. Estonian culture has barely survived after hundreds of years of opression. So you live here you learn the language and the customs you will be fine. Whatever you do in your own home is your buisness ofc. Also do not expect Estonians to respect your religion. Estonia is one of the least religious countries in the world so leave your god or whatever at home.

Instead of going to Estonia go to Poland. Poland is fun, you can never be bored at all. Poland is cold but even in the cold it is still fun. Nice winter resorts like zakopane. More importantly the polish economy is better than Estonian economy even though Poland does not use Euros. There are far more high tech jobs in Poland these days and unemployment is very low. Housing for immigrants s never a problem in Polish cities as long as you have your money to pay. Estonia has a tiny population which makes things even worse.
Yeah come here and make bald claims about Estonia and then advertise your contry and talk about how much better it is. This is insulting. If you havent lived and worked in Estonia then dont start talking about how Poland is better. What regards to Your comment about the difficulty of renting an apartment in Estonia, then I as a native Estonian can say that the issue is not specific to "blacks" or Africans. The core of the issue is that according to Estonian laws it is kind of difficult to expel tenants, who do not pay the rent. On top of that it is difficult to get foreigners to pay for damages that they have done to the apartment, because a foreigner can just leave the country and a court order is useless against them. Therefore, all boils down to TRUST. Estonians TRUST Japanese people and Western-European people. If a landlord is a native Estonian, then even builders, who are themselves native Estonians, and Estonian Russians might have difficulties becoming a tenant, despite the fact that Estonian courts are effective against them. The ONLY way an Estonian Russian can earn a trust of a native Estonian is TO LEARN THE ESTONIAN LANGUAGE. So native Estonians do not consider "blue collaar workers", who speak only Russian, as business wise trustworthy transaction partners. Now compare Arabic and African business culture with Estonian business culture and You should figure out quite quickly that TOTALLY INDEPENDENT OF YOUR SKIN COLOR anybody from "black Africa" or Arab states or even Southern European non-EU states will be DISQUALIFIED quite easily. What regards to the scene, where the real estate agent promises to show the real estate and refuses to collaborate at the last moment and stops answering calls, then that's weird. I haven't heard of such behaviour before, because any halve-decent native Estonian can come up with some diplomatic way to refuse business even if the core reason of the refusal is pure racism. I suspect that the real estate agency that hired a real-estate agent that lacked the IQ to come up with a diplomatic excuse for refusing business, independent of the actual reason for the refusal, must have been some bottom layer shoddy firm to start with. But, yes, I do believe that a German or a Japanese person will not have any trouble getting an apartment renting contract signed quite quickly. There is definitely that BUSINESS CULTURE TRUST aspect, id est whether the land lord or real estate agent trusts that the other side has a proper business culture so that the deal will go through without any issues, problems. Thank You for reading my comment.
